Report: SANCTUARY To Close U.S. Operation - Apr. 4, 2007
Chris M. Walsh of Billboard.com reports that British independent music company Sanctuary Group Plc will shut down its U.S. label this summer, according to a source within the company.

U.K. execs arrived in New York last Thursday (March 29) and alerted staffers the operation would be closing June 30. The company will remain a front-line label in the U.K. with catalog, licensing and an online presence.

The ailing firm had admitted in November 2006 that it was looking to sell parts of its business, including its stake in the independent Rough Trade label.

Yeah..I mean they did it to themselves. Every label is trying to grow, and they were grasping at straws signing the older crop of bands. Not to say any of the bands aren't quality, just tough to market in todays time with is unfortunate it has to be that way

Had a big catalogue with tons of useless reissuses, but all the other major Metal independents always had more authentic and more convincing releases on the marketplace. I have a couple of this labels CD's when they had the imprint Metal-Is Records, after CMC and Noise Records Folded into Sanctuary

So it is no shock they had to close down it US operation.

Your going to have to get a import from CD Europe in Florida or the CD Cellar in Ohio.

All the Motorhead releases when they were released, but the next Motorhead CD will be a import purchase.

Just there not going to press any copies of Sancturay titles in the USA, you will have to buy the import version and; when things pick back up they will reopen a New York office or just get a licenesse like a KOCH records.

I doubt this label will close its doors completely ala, ala Music For Nations circa 2002 or Combat Records circa 1992. Just there will be no US presence in New York.

I sent them $35 for the Institute of Arts edition of Watchtower's 'Energetic Disassembly.' Eight years later, I still have not received it.

...I mostlly used to deal with them in the mid 1990's when I converted my vinyl over to CD.

Looks like you will have to go through for the Sanctuary UK pressings.

CD CELLAR IN OHIO, I have good results with them via, ebay.ca

Sorry to hear you get beat out of a pretty essential tech metal purchase.

I have all 3 different pressing of Energetic Disassembly.

1995 Rough Trade/ IOA
1997 Rough Trade/ 1OA...different artwork and back layout
200? Monster Records Remaster (Now called Rockadome Records)

Who knows maybe The End Records or Sentinel Steel will carry Santcuary UK releases Stateside.
