CHIMAIRA To Take Part In This Year's SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND
- Apr. 9, 2007
|
|
|
CHIMAIRA frontman Mark Hunter announced from the stage at the band's concert in Chicago Sunday night (April 8) that they will take part in the third annual Sounds of the Underground tour, set to take place this summer. As previously reported, GWAR has been confirmed as the headliner of this year's event, according to a posting on the group's web site. Other acts that are rumored to be playing the festival include SHADOWS FALL, JOB FOR A COWBOY and EVERY TIME I DIE. An official announcement regarding this summer's lineup is expected soon.
The second annual Sounds of the Underground tour featured performances by AS I LAY DYING, IN FLAMES, TRIVIUM, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GWAR, TERROR, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BEHEMOTH, THE CHARIOT and THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, among others.
The Sounds of the Underground organizers took a different approach to last summer's festival by keeping the number of bands on the bill down and extending the length of set times. In 2005 most bands got no more than 30 minutes to play.

Chimaira and GWAR alone make this tour worthy. Every other band is just filler.

Kickass lineup sofar I'm liking it better than Ozzfests cuz some of the bands on the bill of that tour are not the best even though there is a couple great bands that are going to be there I think SOTU might be a little bit better we'll have to see

First year had a better lineup. 2nd year had good bands but not good enough to drive over 100 miles like the first tour.

1st rule of life: Name calling gets you nowhere.
Next, I didn't know you were the ambassador of heavy music for all people, that you could make a bold statement such as:
'The majority of people do not follow hard music, therefore have never heard of Blabbermouth. The majority of people who read the text posted...' ---------------------------- RE: 'GWAR (it's an acronym, spell it right!)'
Get a grip, it's not important. ---------------------------- RE: Because we all follow "underground music." underground doesn't necessarily mean "unknown to all" It means something other pop, and relatively unknown. Now, if it was called the "Obscure Sounds of the Underground" you could try to be smart.
These bands have collectively sold over 1.5 million records combined, hardly 'relatively unknown'. And taking your great logic from before, if most people don't follow hard music and don't read Blabbermouth, etc., but yet you 'all follow underground music', then this 'UNDERGROUND' label they slap on should be completely laughable in your eyes, no? You follow it anyway so you should know, correct? Are you implying that this tour is attempting to cater to the outside market, to the so-called 'majority of people who don't listen to hard music'? ----------------------------- Quit acting so high and mighty like you're the bringer of some great knowledge.

I'm not impressed so far, with the exception of ETID. I wasn't impressed last year either with the exception of CC. I've heard rumors of Necro being on SOTU this year which just boggles my mind. I'm sure it will do well since they're moving this tour into small venues.

And you have to learn how to interpret sarcasm. And to comment on your second portion that is so enlightening, isn't that usually the case? Who goes to a show where they don't like the line-up? Who were you responding to anyway?

If that's the lineup it looks like SOTU is going more mainstream than Ozzfest with all those death metal bands. The lineup so far is decent, I'd much rather prefer GWAR to be a middle slot because their music is not good and they would have to come up with some new tricks to really entertain me for a full headlining show. I pray that B-job For A Cowboy and Every Time I Cry aren't on this tour.

GWAR and Chimaira suck. Chimaira is just lazy, midwest "metal". GWAR. No explanation needed. They're cool to watch, but no one's going to Sounds of the Underground to see them headline.
