ALICE IN CHAINS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE To Perform 'Tribute' Sets At 'VH1 Rock Honors' - Apr. 17, 2007
ALICE IN CHAINS and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE have been added to the list of artists who will take the stage for tribute performances at the second annual "VH1 Rock Honors". This year's celebration will honor the music and influence of OZZY OSBOURNE, GENESIS, HEART and ZZ TOP.

These honorees will perform live, along with additional tribute bands NICKELBACK, GRETCHEN WILSON and KEANE, on Saturday, May 12 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Hosted by Bam Margera ("Jackass", "Viva La Bam"), "VH1 Rock Honors" will air on VH1 Thursday, May 24 at 9 p.m Eastern. Presenters will include Billy Bob Thornton, Robin Williams, Criss Angel, Taylor Hawkins and more.

Last year, VH1's inaugural show honored KISS, QUEEN, DEF LEPPARD and JUDAS PRIEST and was hosted by Jaime Pressly with tribute performances by FOO FIGHTERS, GODSMACK, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, Paul Rodgers, Tommy Lee, Slash, Scott Ian, Gilby Clarke, Rob Zombie and surprise guest Ace Frehley. Making special appearances were Kiefer Sutherland, Gina Gershon, Jaime Kennedy, Natasha Henstridge, Brittany Snow, Jim Breuer and Penn Jillette.

How will this go considering the post yesterday, (I think) in regards to Sharons problem with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman????

That's a valid point. Someone will need to strip search Sharon for eggs.

Not me!

Queens of the Stone Age will honor ZZ Top since they are friends with Billy Gibbons, and he is on the upcoming and last album.

My guess is that Alice in Chains will honor Ozzy.

Gretchen Wilson and Keane will honor Heart.

Nickelback will honor Genesis.

Alice in Chains will honor Heart. Jerry Cantrell is a big fan of theirs and one of their singers guest starred on AIC's "Brother" from the Sap album.

Queens of the Stone Age will honor ZZ Top.

COMMENT | Yes I can see Alice in Chains honoring Heart

Since because of SAP and Mike Inez toured in Heart as well.

So let me change i......how about AIC with Gretchen Wilson on vocals honoring Heart.

Nickelback honoring Ozzy.

Keane honoring Genesis?

There are more tribute bands than honorees. But this is how it is:

ALICE IN CHAINS = OZZY
NICKELBACK + QUEENS = ZZ TOP
GRETCHEN WILSON = HEART
KEANE = GENESIS

COMMENT | i'll be watching for OZZY

I don't know if you call what he does special effects, magic, or other, but that show Mind Freak keeps me on the edge of my seat. Kickass intro music too.

Oh yea, Vh1 Rock Honors is gonna be the shit! Definitly watching.

Im sure AiC will tribute Ozzy, and probably jam with Hear too....

Jerry Cantrell is the Iommi of the 90s...

Both are masters of heavy crunchy riffs!

COMMENT | Genesis...

will be there and I think are also playing at the event. I doubt there will be a tribute to them. They'll tribute themselves.

Alice In Chains could easily cover both Heart and Ozzy. Ann sang on SAP. Alice In Chains played with them on their tour. Jerry and Ann's voices together are amazing. I'd like to know what Ozzy songs Alice In Chains would cover.

Can wait for the show.

This is simple what does AIC not have? Layne Stanly...

Gretchen Wilson Plus AIC = Heart
Nickelback = Ozzy
Keane = Genesis
QOTSA = ZZ Top

whoever thought it was a good idea to invite nickelback should be banned from making future decisions.
