METALLICA's HETFIELD, ULRICH Attend HEAVEN AND HELL / MEGADETH Gig In L.A. - Apr. 26, 2007
METALLICA members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich were reportedly sighted at the HEAVEN AND HELL / MEGADETH / MACHINE HEAD show at the Los Angeles Forum Wednesday night (April 25). According to one fan posting on the MEGADETH message board, Hetfield and Ulrich "were hanging out with Mike Inez from ALICE IN CHAINS in the sound area. Nobody even noticed 'em at first, but about 10 minutes after people started leaving, word got out and they were almost mobbed. Security had to go over and form a line across the sound area to prevent anybody getting in. They started a 'Metallica, Metallica' chant."

In a March 2007 interview with Eddie Trunk of the "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM, Lars Ulrich expressed his excitement over the prospect of seeing the reunited Dio-era lineup of BLACK SABBATH perform again. "It's awesome," he said. "I'm so psyched. I love, especially the first two records — 'The Mob Rules' and 'Heaven and Hell' — and I'm psyched that they're doing what they're doing. It was an awesome experience to be part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year [METALLICA inducted BLACK SABBATH in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006]. No disrespect to Ozzy, but certainly a bunch of the Dio stuff was great and, I think, still has aged really, really well. So I'm psyched that those guys are going out and doing their thing. I can't wait to hear the new songs and… I know they're gonna be over in Europe at the same time we are, so maybe we'll get a chance to catch them or maybe even… We're just starting to put the bills together for the shows we're playing, so maybe if there's a chance that we could have them play with us, that would be a huge thing."

HEAVEN AND HELL will be METALLICA's "special guests" on July 5 at Rotundenplatz in Vienna, Austria.

Don't get me wrong, Sabbath was the sh*t, but Tony still has to stare at his guitar when playing paranoid. And yes I know he has three plastic fingertips, and no I couldn't do that or play it as good even looking, but you would think by now he might glance up once or twice. Maybe he's stagefrightened? Good to see that Metallica's in LA working on the album rather than taking breaks from this process which I'm feeling has taken a shitload of time already.

As far as whatever happened according to Big Benny,if he is indeed talking about Lars Ulrich I can honestly tell you I think it's more respectable that he opens his mouth while in the same venue as Dave rather than to some magazine or interviewer for some stupid radio station or TV outlet which is more than I could say about Dave Mustaine but somehow I don't think Lars or even James for that matter said anything because the guy really hasn't elaborated on what he saw.

Yes Metallica stole all of Mustaines riffs, I wonder why Mustaine never thought to release any songs containing these riffs before Metallica had the chance.....Of course Mustaine must have come up with all Metallicas riffs and just decided not to use them because he preferred being number 2.

Dave wrote half the music on "Kill Em All" and co-wrote 2 songs on "Ride the Lightening". Metallica used his music against his will. This is a fact, people have to accept this (especially Metallica fans).

So who knows, maybe they were there for some new riffs? God knows Lars could use some drum pointers...

"Metallica chant, I dont think Dave would mind. I think he's old enough not to worry anymore with stupid childish envies like that."

LOL! Have you ever read a Mustaine interview?? He wrote a fucking song about his Blabbermouth detractors!

As for Metallica stealing Dave's riffs. Whatever. James wrote "Hit the Lights," the song that got them signed...before Dave was ever even in the band, the original recording was with Lloyd Grant and James on guitar. Mustaine and Hetfield co-wrote alot of the stuff on "Kill 'em All" but they wrote it as a band, therefore when Mustaine is out of the band, it still belongs to the band so he has no say. He was credited for two songs on "Ride the Lightning." After that, he has no influence. They wrote "Master of Puppets" and "...and Justice for All," arguably thier best two albums without any influence from him.

I agree that "Load" is better than "Kill 'em All."

Here are my rankings.
1. AJFA
2. RTL
3. MOP
4. Black Album
5. Load
6. KEA
7. ReLoad
8. St. Anger

not counting Garage Inc or S&M, obviously

Metallica have progressed as a band and let more and more of thier influences shine through over the years. Kirk grew up on alot of bluesy stuff like Thin Lizzy and Jimi Hendrix, James liked some Southern rock such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Lars was into the NWOBHM bands. With varied influences like that, they are definitely going to have albums like "Load." The band still hasn't made a bad album.

Good point. personally, having bought Kill em All way back when on cassette when it first came out and not knowing what the hell it was or what to think, I'm partial to it. And I haven't liked much of anything from that great band since Master, but if people want to listen to Load and all that other stuff then fine. I didn't buy anything since And Justice... and most likely never will.

Metallica still has a place in music because people are still buying it and going to the shows. None of us will ever reach that status, musically, but there are so many more bands out there (before and after Metallica) to explore.

I for one loved Walkyier era Skyclad which a lot of metalheads hate. So what? Duran Duran has some terrific song writing abilities (and a hell of a bass player!) but I know a lot of people hate them. So what?

I think B. Sabbath is terrific and was absolutely a foundation in metal music, but I have heard everything by them so many damn times I really get sort of sick of it. So what? They are still what they are...gods of doom and metal.

I personally lean toward Uriah Heep in that era. Though big in the scheme of things, yet so underated. So what?

But people are what they are...self-absorbed pea-brains with as much sense to lick the bladder of an electric elk if that was served up on a silver platter.

I gave up a long time ago trying to appeal to the masses. I think it was 1985 when I started growing my hair long and listening to metal when I started geting judged unfairly.

Funny thing about it is...now days (36 and still have long hair and love metal) I get judged more by metalheads for listening to awesome stuff like Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Frank Zappa (fucking awesome "and I can Blabbermouthally legally say the word "fucking awesome" when describing FZ! HA!), Duran Duran, Screaming Jay Hawkins, or any of the other weird stuff I like.

And yes I still love the metal: Sacred Oath (though an elderly band now) has a new album called Darkness Visible that I recommend to any true metalheads that love stuff like Slough Feg, Brokus Helm, or Twisted Tower Dire...with Queenshryche type vocals! Awesome stuff!

I saw H&H in San Jose the other night - they fuckin rocked heavier than ever - even if the songs are from two decades ago! Iommi was never the stage performer, he lets his sound perform, hence his lack of dramatic stage theatrics - although up close I could see an uncontrollable ear-to-ear grin expressed on his face when he looked over to Dio - that's about as theatrical as he's ever gonna be. I have a metal plate in my neck with fused vertebrae and a pinched nerve, disabling my right arm 35%, but I swear being up front on the rail for H&H was the best physical therapy I could ever have! The sonic vibrations massaged my nerves and I feel like a new man charged from the high energy of the fuckin heavy metal!

Now on to the little man Lars.... he's always been a clown, and has always had a sarcastic mouth...just ask my good friend Willie Lange (Laaz-Rocket & D.D.P) - hehehe inside joke! As much as I love Metallica's music, I'm not that fond of Lars' intelligence, but Megadeath did NOT put on a show worth my money - they played fantastic songs and riffed like a motha-fucka, but Mustaine's performance was okay, but somehow seemed to miss the punch I last saw them do. Since it wasn't their top bill, maybe they just wanted to "play" their songs, and leave the big performance for the headliner. It's not beyond Metallica to just "play" their songs, even when they've headlined... So why would Lars say anything at all? Because that is just Lars - self centered, self serving, and some times amusing if you take it as it is.... the whole world is a stage, and everyone loves a clown!

D.D.P. 4 LIFE!!!!
