NINE INCH NAILS Puts Songs On Popular File-Sharing Site - May 1, 2007
Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS has posted three songs from the band's new "Year Zero" album onto a file-sharing network based on the popular BitTorrent software, which has quickly become the most frequently used method of illegally sharing and downloading large files, especially music and movies. The tracks appeared on a Swedish torrent site called Pirate Bay, which bills itself as the world's largest BitTorrent tracker. The songs are available for fans to either listen to or remix. NINE INCH NAILS has also hinted that the entire "Year Zero" album will soon be available on torrent networks.

Since leaking songs has been part of the marketing campaign for "Year Zero", it seems likely that NINE INCH NAILS put the three tracks on Pirate Bay with the cooperation of the group's record label.

"Year Zero" debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart last week, selling 187,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous effort, 2005's "With Teeth", moved 272,000 copies.

The new CD's much-talked-about marketing campaign has involved cryptic voicemails and a maze of eerie web sites in addition to leaked music.

NINE INCH NAILS will visit Australia and Japan next month. North American tour plans are still to be announced.

Where did they move them??? The secondhand stores?

Yes, the government COULD stop file-sharing.
If China can control internet use, so can the USA- our government is just choosing not to, it seems.

Considering the only thing you've moved in your life is your right hand up and down on your dick.

Mad props to TR for manning up.

i would bet that freedom and liberty are not as big in china as they are in the united states...
as for nin, the new cd is average at best
the idea of giving people the song seems fine to me, its kinda like the evolution of radio, on a more personal level

Tim Infinity: "I still refuse to buy an mp3 player but thats only because i want to support the bands whose cds i purchase."

Dude, you can still have an mp3 player AND buy CDs/support bands. That's what I do...no need to fileshare. I think the iPod is the greatest thing since sliced bread...you're missing out, bro!!

The person who reported this is stupid.

Torrents are not a file-sharing network.
Torrents are Torrents.

File-sharing network is shit like Limewire, Winmx and Bearshare.
I've had this album about a month and a half, listened to one song maybe. Might check it out, but since the new Megadeth album just became availible last night on Demonoid i've been listening to it.

Megadeth Pwns Nine Inch Nails.

I don't download albums or own an Ipod. I buy my albums and support the bands that i like. And that makes me happy.

Also "Year Zero" is a great cd.

What the hell is everyone making a big deal out of this for? Lots of bands and record labels allow you to download a few mp3s straight from thier official website.
