CHEVELLE Gear Ripped Off

CHEVELLE has issued the following update via its MySpace page:
"We regret to inform you that we are unable to perform our scheduled tour dates (until further notice) due to the entire trailer full of pretty much ALL our gear we own getting STOLEN TODAY (May 9) from the Clarion Dallas Park Central hotel at approximately 11:00 a.m.
"If anyone has any information, or sees a light gray KZ Cargo trailer, with an Illinois plate 57002. Please call 911 or your local police authority.
"Most items are labeled 'Chevelle' and if you notice anything suspicious on eBay or other online resellers selling 'authentic' CHEVELLE items... Pete's guitars, Dean's basses, Sam's drums, amplifiers, risers, backdrops, tee shirts... please call the police ... or [send an] email [to]: thestolenchevellegear@hotmail.com.
"Any information would be greatly appreciated... and we hope to see you soon...but it will take some time to get all our items replaced.
"Thank you for your support and understanding. Lets catch these crooked &^*^%!!!"
CHEVELLE recently added a batch of new dates to its current headlining tour with FINGER ELEVEN and STRATA. CHEVELLE is supporting its fourth album, "Vena Sera", which debuted at Number 12 on the Billboard album chart and has sold 122,000 copies since its release.
The current single from "Vena Sera" is "Well Enough Alone".

Liked this band's second album and haven't heard the new stuff after that. If it helps, I am selling most of my gear and software cheap on eBay! hahaha

this happens in dallas a lot. i'm from houston and i've heard of it happening to smaller bands there from ever so often, plus i recall prong having their entire trailer of gear, merch & everything stolen in dallas the day after they played houston a couple years back. there must be some sort of ring there that's targeting musicians passing through town, face it even if you're not a musician it wouldn't take much research to figure out exactly what you'd want to look for in a target. and if the theives ARE musicians, then that's even lower. like fucking cannibals. either way it's really fucking sad though, whether you like them or not. wouldn't be surprised if it was uninsured too since the vast majority of musicians dont have insurance of any kind.

Of course this whole thing sucks for the Chevelle guys, I've had my car broken into, i know what it's like to be stolen from, so I feel for them.
But ultimately this could prevent them from playing a show or two, so that makes the world a better place.

I gaurantee that whoever stole their shit did it so they couldn't go around spreading their shitty music. I'm not one of these blabbermouth idiots who has to listen to everything brutally heavy and nothing else. I like tons of different types of music but these guys just flat out blow on every level. Hopefully those instruments are gone for good and they never get new ones.

I had the very same thing happen to me at this parking structure for the hotel while on tour. You just can't leave an equipment trailer unattended in this area. The crime rate is horrible down there. I hope they were insured.

Honestly, your gear being stolen sucks, but your getting stolen in broad daylight and you calling yourself a professional, with roadies, is a total joke. They should've jammed roadie Rufus or Cleetus in the back of the van to sleep off the hangover and they'd been safe.

Who in the hell is ripping off musicians in Dallas? A few years ago, the Mystick Krewe of Clearlight had all their gear stolen after playing Deep Ellum in Dallas.

My band had all of it's gear stolen for our supposedly secure practice area many, many years ago in the 1980's. We never recovered and some of us simply dropped out of music altogether. I had nearly $4k in equipment stolen (just my bass equipment)...and that was 1987 dollars.

The best news I have heard all day!! Kind of strange they could not get any record label support to rent gear while in Dallas. I'm sure Paul Reed Smiths and Triple Recs are easy to find oh but then there is the ever difficult to find drumset. Whatever they can cram it zero need for heavy emo. I would like to shake the hands of the bad ass guys who kept crap jam out of Texas.

Get a trailer boot for one of the wheels.
Yes it does suck and no I am not a Chevelle fan and yes, I don't wish this on any band...
Now if they played the Ridglea Theater last night in Fort Worth why would they drive 45 minutes east to stay in Dallas after the show. I can understand if the tour takes them that way but I would imagine the band would just stay in FW overnight and then hit the road from there.

I saw this band a few years ago and was not impressed by anymeans. I hear them on the radio and I switch the channel. Stock rock.
However, being in a band I can relate and feel bad for them. Hopefully they have endorsements to cover most of it (?). What a damn shame. When James Hetfield's Marshall's were stolen in the 80's, he wrote "Fade To Black" Maybe we'll get something outta these guys worth a toss now?

I don't care for Chevelle, but that sucks losing your stuff. Though it doesn't surprise me that it happened in Dallas. That city is such a shithole and everybody who lives there thinks they have the right to be an asshole. I'll never go back to Dallas to see a show! I don't care if they re-animate Dimebag and they only play Dallas, I'd still skip it!

One, fine if you don't like them, but don't say its cool that they got there fucking gear stolen dumbass what if it happened to you? Duh they can get it replaced easy but the guy said it so himself, its not that money is an issue its that its the stuff they recorded with. Two, the singer is great, and he may sound like maynard james keenan quit a bit on some songs but it doesn't seem like he's trying to imitate him, because i don't hear it on every song and my friends and bandmates agree. The drummer is very good also, and the guitar is not the most talented, but would they sound good doing dream theater or joe satriani shit? don't think so. Pete thinks up some damn good and original albeit simple melodies that really hit hard. The only way they sound like tool is the singer.
