SCORPIONS: New CD To Feature Guest Appearance By BILLY CORGAN - May 13, 2007
According to a posting at ScorpsNews.com, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker revealed in the latest issue of the French magazine Rock Hard that SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan makes an appearance on vocals in the new SCORPIONS song "The Cross", which is included on the band's new CD, "Humanity - Hour 1", due in Germany on May 25.

In other news, Schenker stated that the SCORPIONS invited both Rudolf's brother Michael and Uli Jon Roth to appear on the new CD, but that neither was able to guest on the album due to scheduling conflicts.

Also on the SCORPIONS front, professionally filmed video footage of the band's special performance at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany — dubbed "A Night to Remember - A Journey in Time" — is currently being edited for a possible fall DVD release. A clip of the SCORPIONS performing the song "Rock You Like a Hurricane" at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany on August 3, 2006 has been posted online at YouTube. SCORPIONS were joined by special guests and former bandmates Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker and Herman Rarebell during their appearance at the festival.

A new video interview with SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine and guitarist Rudolf Schenker is posted on the Nostalgie.fr web site. Click on the movie icon to start the interview. (NOTE: The interview is conducted in English but the rest of the report is in French.)

Audio samples of all 12 songs that are set to appear on the forthcoming SCORPIONS album, "Humanity - Hour 1", are now available at the website of the German online retailer Weltbild.de. The CD was produced by James Michael and co-produced by songwriter/producer Desmond Child, who has worked with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER.

SCORPIONS performed the new song "Humanity", on March 24 at a special concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of signing the Roman treaty, which became the basis for foundation of the European Union. Watch a video clip of SCORPIONS' performance at YouTube.

...this pairing is a train wreck. The responses here reflect the larger picture... Scorpions fans do not like the Smashing Pumpkins. To distinctly different bands that are both of their time.

Sounds like I better dust off my roller skates and get ready to rock. I hope there will be some good whistling in at least two of the songs!

He is a metalhead just like everyone here. I have seen him at concerts here in Chicago like Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, ANthrax, Maiden, etc.

How can Uli and Michael cite scheuling conflicts for not appearing on a Scorpions ALBUM. They better be pretty major, like a surgery. Albums last forever. Your trip to K Mart or your seminar booking can be postponed. Geez.

It may not be the "traditonal" guest on a Scorps album, but what the hell. I'm a BIG fan of the Pumpkins and am sure he will bring a new dimension to the sound of the song. Go Billy Go!!!!!!

"Zeitgiest" by the Pumpkins---July 10...Be there!!!!!!!!!!!! with or without Iha,it should be cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the US, the Scorpions usually put on a best of set with their classics from the late 70's and the 80's since they have to live up to what they got famous for. And that's a gift for their fans.

In their home country they have tried anything since the mid-90's to stay in the limelight; ballads, pseudo-Industrial,

Nobody here takes them seriously anymore, and there's a reason for that: Their Wacken proved that they have HARDLY any ties to Heavy Metal anymore.

I will always love their backcatalogue and their groundbreaking impact, but please wake up, they've not only lost their sting, they are merely FAKES that should call it a day.

N3L14-something or other: The Scorpions' debut album "Lonesome Crow" came out in 1972 and them, much like a lot of other bands from that era were a prime influence on Billy "Charlie Brown" Corgan. Try expanding your musical knowledge beyond from what was popular 10 years ago.
