MEGADETH's 'United Abominations' Lands In Top 10; LINKIN PARK Tops Chart

MEGADETH sold around 54,000 copies of its latest CD, "United Abominations", in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 8 of the Billboard chart. This is more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and is a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).

USA: #8
Norway: #21
UK: #23
Australia: #23
Italy: #24
Ireland: #31
Switzerland: #38
Netherlands: #49
In other news, LINKIN PARK's "Minutes to Midnight" sold 623,000 copies in its first week, making it by far the biggest first week of the year. Blue Note chanteuse NORAH JONES' "Not Too Late" was the previous topper, with 418,000 back in February.
Lastly, JOB FOR A COWBOY's long-awaited debut album, entitled "Genesis", shifted 13,000 copies to debut at No. 54.

Its good, but nothing tops 'The Blackening' so far at least. I think you are forgetting megadeth's 'United Abominations' has one of the shittiest remakes of a song ever. Had that not been on there, well then you can call it the best. MACHINE HEAD REIGNS SUPREME!

The new Megs rips!
The high point of the new Machine Head is definitely "Aesthetics of Hate" which is a "10", but then the rest of the album is around a "6".
I think Immolation should tour with Lily Allen. Still.

linkin parks newest is emo... yea even more than their previous... its not even nu-metal anymore.. its sort of hardrock.. well whatever, its sells good so good for them...
anyway machine head's 'the blackening' together with dark tranquillity's 'fiction' are the best releases so far I think.. and I dont think a lot of albums this year will change that.. except for Arch Enemy's newest later this year, I'm really excited about the things I hear about that album..

It didn't sell as well as TWNAH? The hell? But it charted much higher? Again, what the hell?
No, it isn't the best album of the year, but if you compare it to the likes of Machine Head, then yeah, it might as well be.
Maybe sales would've been better if it wasn't guaranteed that a "full" version is coming out through Roadrunner in less than six months with the complete tracklisting.

the best album of the year so far is the new Manowar but i have high hopes for Candlemass, King Diamond and of course priest. Machine Head pppppfffffffff rehashes of thrash bands i didn't care for, ok.
Also the last Iron Maiden album was awesome well better than the new megadeth

I'll admit EVERYTHING by Vio-Lence after "Eternal Nightmare" was pretty much a waste. BUT, that one album is & always will be a CLASSIC. A fifth-rate Exodus clone though? I don't think so. Not at all. Sean Killian is definitely an acquired taste vocalist (insert disgusting joke here.)
Oh yeah. And screw Stinkin Park.

yes, Machine Head's latest is still the best so far for 2007.
Pretty impressive for Job For a Cowboy, too! A death metal band on Metal Blade hitting #54!!! I saw these guys open up for Cannibal Corpse last month and they ruled! They had a lot of younger atypical metal fans (read: regular looking) though which seemed odd.

United Abominations is good, but there are better 2007 albums out there and more to come: Ziltoid The Omnisient (album of the year), The Blackening, In Sorte Diaboli, Dead Again, new Dream Theater, new Bad Religion, new Testament...
Linkin Park selling ten times more albums than Megadeth is still totally fucking pathetic. The human species sucks. Prepare your finest coffee...

'United Abominations' isnt good, needs to keep listening to it. Then, mix it it with the older stuff. It fits right in there and is one of their strongest albums to date. I will say that it feels over-produced though...im just sayin.
