ACE FREHLEY Records Ten New Songs, Seeks Label Home
- May 25, 2007

New York radio personality and VH1 Classic VJ/host Eddie Trunk has posted the following message in his blog:
"Stopped by and visited my old friend Ace Frehley last night [Thursday, May 24] at the [New York City] studio where he is now mixing his upcoming CD. Ace is doing so well, is totally healthy and just in a great place now. I am very proud of him. Ace has recorded 10 new songs so far and is completing three to use as a demo for now. I can tell you there is some strong label interest so he will no doubt have several options to release it. I heard two of the three new songs that are being finalized and I must say I was really impressed with them. It is classic-sounding Ace singing and playing. One track had a vocal from Ace that almost had a BEATLES-type vibe, but still rockin'. You will also be happy to know that Ace plays all guitar and sings all vocals. The recordings were made with a trio of Ace, Anton Fig on drums and new bassist Anthony Esposito (LYNCH MOB). The touring band will be Ace, Anthony and other players [to be announced]. Ace also told me he wrote all the songs just before going into the studio, so this is all fresh stuff. I'm really excited by the two songs I heard. It is by far the most 'KISS-like' music from any past or present member of the band's respective solo albums. We hung out for a couple hours, talked about the old days and had some Japanese food. Really fun night and was great to see him as always."

Could you POSSIBLY kiss his ass any harder? I would be shocked to hear anything much less anything good from Ace these days. Betcha it's just as good as Peter Criss' effort

That sounds great! I'll never be one of those KISS is nothing without Ace morons, but good for Ace. I'll buy his CD and maybe even see him on tour.
It makes me really happy to hear that Ace is still sober and doing well. When I saw him do the interviews for the VH1, "When KISS Ruled The World" show, it was AWESOME to see him finally coherant and truly with it.
KISS is better without Ace and now it sounds that, finally, Ace may be doing better without KISS.

have been friends since the mid 80s. And it has absolutely made my day to hear that Ace has new stuff recorded. Just been listening to several demos from his solo years. Awesome!

Ace is back and he told you so.
If the Devil wants to play his card game now,he'll have to play without an Ace in the deck.

Ace is back boys and girls. His solo stuff smoked the others by the guys. He's playing and looks better than ever.Without Ace there wouldn't have been Dimebag so show some respect. Ace is back cause he told ya so.

The first Frehley's Comet album was pretty good, but the second was weak. Trouble Walkin' was his best by far since the Kiss Solo Album. It's been a long time. I hope he still has something left.

I'm looking forward to this! And for us KISS fans this will probably be the closet thing to a new KISS album that we will hear for along time. And for the KISS and ACE haters don't buy or listen to it.

but this is the best news since the H&H tour. ACE is fu*king great, looking forward to the new material. I'd rather hear my 100-th generation copies of the Ace demos than anything KISS has done without him.

I was at Aces B-day bash in like 2002(?) and he was going off then that his solo album was almost done and it was the quintessential Ace Frehley album. Now 5 years later he is claiming this again. I hope nthis time its for real. Even though he was a jerk that day I'm still a fan of his music.

I will (without question) buy a new solo cd from Ace. I disagree that "Into The Void" was the best track on PC though. I find that tune overrated myself.
Now...if we can just get a new KISS cd before the world ends...

I like Howarth (going back to his days in the excellent AOR band 707) but I can't get into the SECOND SIGHTING album.
Outside of the leadoff track "Insane"...it's pretty lame IMO. I own it though.

And as I try to follow up on old news concerning Ace, I find this. Much to my amusement, I didn't even know he was working on a new album, and this is from May. Anyone hear anything new about this recently? Is this guy going to release another album, or what? It would be interesting to hear this, no doubt...
