IZZY STRADLIN Jamming With Former GN'R Bandmates: The Photographic Evidence

A small black-and-white photo of guitarist Izzy Stradlin jamming with his former GUNS N' ROSES bandmates Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), and Matt Sorum (drums) in their as-yet-unnamed new project has been posted online at this location ation. As previously reported, the group, which has reportedly written more than 40 songs since forming earlier in the year, is still on the lookout for a suitable lead vocalist, having previously auditioned ex- BUCKCHERRY frontman Joshua Todd and current NEUROTICA singer Kelly Shaefer (who was jamming with the group in Los Angeles as recently as last week), among others. Although Izzy is said to be involved in the writing process for the group's upcoming debut album, he will not be touring with the band, who have now officially recruited McKagan's LOADED bandmate Dave Kushner as a session guitarist for all live appearances in support of the CD. It takes Slash and the rest of the ex-GNR's less than half a year to make an albums worth of music. Axl's been working on his solo album for over 10 years, and he still doesn't have much to show for it.

Slash must be hurting for attention if his website/fanclub (snakepit.org) had to pass this story about a black & white photo of Izzy to Blabbermouth. Who the fuck really cares? This is the exact same story as last week, but WOW, a little photo! I hope the castoffs do well, but really... Slash's solo work wasn't great, Duff's solo work wasn't great, Izzy's was ok and he's a good songwriter, but I'm not expecting much. Axl took this long due to members changing and him being a perfectionist. Slash is ANYTHING BUT a perfectionist. This project is being rush out to cash in on the fact that Axl & GNR 2.0 are starting to tour. That's the only reason these guys are together - they saw GNR sell out MSG, Fleet Center, Philly, and decided there was money to be made. Much as I like these guys, it's true. And please not Bach, the stage star wannabe.

Haha its funny to see these people unite after Axl formed his new band, why didn't they do it earlier? my guess is that they dont want Axl to dominate the scene again.
Oh to the person who said Bach has no ego, Axl is the most modest man in the history of rock compared to Bach and if you dont know this your ignorant or 15 years old. Oh and the person who said Izzy wrote most GnR songs is wrong, the majority of songs were written by Axl with Izzy behind him, even though Izzy's lyrics are good the true masterpieces like N.Rain or Estranged were written by Axl so get your facts right. I hope both versions of GnR release killer albums but i truly think Axl's Chinese Democracy will be far better due to the quality of the songs already played , i hate Axl's ego but he is the greatest ever frontman period.
Axl Rose is the 'Mozart 'of Rock music confirmed by N.Rain , Estranged and that new song Madagascar which seems to me as the best ballad i've heard in the past 10 years.

Way to go Chastite. Axl is the Gnr core, the new band has proven they can capture the classic gnr sound but still have a new refreshing sound also. I will always have a place in my heart for Izzy, Slash, and Duff, but fuck em. They did not want to do anything before they saw Axl selling out stadiums around the world and the huge buzz he has created. Now all of a sudden they want in on the action, nope, fuck it. Buckethead can play guitar as good as anyone out there, he is a mix between Satriani, Van Halen, Slash, Stevie Ray, Steve Vai, Yangwi Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt?, and a little Dimebag and Dave Mustaine too. Buckethead will be the melodic and revolutionary freak on guitar just like Slash was 15 years ago. Slash will grow old and die playing AC/DC and Queen and Zeppelin covers in some LA dive. Fuck em, he had his chance to conform his will and talent to the genius and authority of Axl and he blew it. Slash is the best soloist of all time, not guitarist, but soloist. But he can't write songs and is shit on his own, he should of just kissed Axl's ass and continued writing beautiful solos for whatever Axl demanded. Axl reigns as Guns N Roses.

It was the strength of 14 Years and Dust And Bones that had me skipping to buy all of Izzy's solo stuff....All albums put together could not even wipe the ass of either one of the above songs. How about Shooter or that guy from New American Shame as a vocalist. I see that the guy from My Sisters Machine is jamming with ex-queensryche members -- maybe he would be up for it. Hell I can think of 100 singers that could be exiting.

Even though they say that izzy isn't gonna tour, I think Izzy and Duff could pull off the singing duties pretty well. They would do it on gnr records. You've heard "Double Talkin' Jive" "Dust n' Bones" and "14 years", those are great songs, and you don't really miss axl in them too much. And, on the spagetti incident, Duff did a good job singing a buncha punk toons. I'd go to the "Slash, Duff, Izzy, Matt" band gig any day. Just to see them all on stage together would bring a tear to my eye.

khandom you're in the denial stage of realizing that the old gnr is not going to get together with axl. Think all us Gnr fans wish it would happen, but it's not EVER GONNA HAPPEN. Those guys hate each other way too much. It's sorta like the Roger Waters - Pink Floyd thing, in fact this is alot like it.

you know what I love Slash and Duff and Matt and Izzy and it's great to see them doing shit together again...but as someone stated earlier, why now? I think they defenitely saw the chance of Axl coming back to bring some attention to them since its almost basically the original line up.And uhhh I'm sorry but if they already have forty songs I wonder if they actually took the time to make sure that it was some actual good shit and not stuff just thrown together cuz forty is a little high for them just getting together. I just don't know about this, it's all the guys back together again and I just don't know if I can see them again without Axl!Theres plenty of talented singers that could do it yes of course. but it's Slash and Duff and Matt and Izzy again not just two of them together again or something.It's just going to be really weird to have everyone but Axl up there basically.But, l honestly hope they make me put my foot in my mouth because that would defenitely kick all ass to have them jammin together again and rock the fuckin place!!!!!!Only time will tell.

i can`t read the shit some people are writing. surely SLASH can write songs. proved with his 2 solo projects. AXL can`t sing anymore ( VMA`s ). buckethead is just a good guitarist as there millions. to cover the old GN`R songs is for many guitarists not the problem but to write such songs is not that easy.
Ain`t Life Grand sounds like a hard GN`R record. i agree that AXL was is the best frontman on earth but fuck the other freaks in his project. i bet his new songs except for shit lije Chinese Democracy would be ten times better if Slash was playing the guitar. the old GN`R worked as a GROUP and they complemented one another.

Neurotica? Weren't they the band that the WWE signed to SmackDown records and then dumped in favour of Fozzy and Jeff Hardy! I mean, come on, this band is going to kick ass. this project sounds great. i would love to see this band, i personally think ian astbury is a very good call, as he and matt go back along way.
but the new line up of gnr is just as good. i saw them in london and they kicked ass, my brother said they were just as good as they were in 92. the crowd aslo had a very good vibe. there new songs were v.good aswell. and for the record, even though on welcome... on the vma's it did semm it, his voice is not going. it sounded great.
i would like them to reform with axl but i cant c it happening. so lets make the best of what weve got. 2 (hopefully) kick ars* bands!

He said the new songs they played were just album tracks i.e not singles and not the best (they played Mada.... chink demo & Blues)

Slash'n'co will not be AS good (i.e still good) - coz they don't have the song writing talent of Axl - unless they get a singer who can give them the skeleton on which to build great tunes, nuff said.

Im just sitting here, thought id refresh the page and "Travis is a fanny" comes up, haha. You sir are a moron. I never once said that I didnt like Axl. Axl has a great voice and his lyrics are awesome. However, I am more of a music fan than a vocal/lyrics fan. Meaning, if a song has mediocre vocals but great music I am happy, but if the vocals/lyrics are great but music is crappy then it just ruins the whole thing. Oh, about being Axls band, if all that great music wasnt behind his vocals then I dont think they would have got very far. Apart the band "can be" decent, but together they are great.

I agree that they were better together than ever will b apart but you missread my comment. You mentioned that axl should re-name the band and I said it has always been his band and so he can hire and fire who he wants.
Axl wrote the best songs, duff izzy wrote riffs, solos etc, Axl gave them structure, a direction, without melody and lyrics and structure music loses meaning. the music without the words would be nowhere near as good

It doesnt matter if its always been Axls band, Guns N' Roses will always be Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and matt. They all made GnR, they gave it life. So, yes, Axl should change the name because it is *not* GnR.
Axl did write great songs, no denying that. But the rest of the group added the great music to go along with it. And I enjoy very much music without words. I would like AFD with music only :) But like I said, its only great when they all come together.

First of all no one cares about what the crazy indians have to say. Second of all this new project group is looking for a singer but can't find any good ones. That's because Axl is the only one that qualifies.
No one should be talking about GNR unless they know anything about them. Axl Rose wrote most of their songs and they all rocked. OF the songs that Axl didn't sing how can anyone say he wasn't missed? Izzy was the one that would never tour and people still pay to see them because of Axl n' Slash.
IT would truly be a great day in rocknroll history if the real GNR got back together. AND all the pieces seem to be slowly falling into place.

Slash, Duff, and Izzy are all really talented, probably the greatest hard rock musicians of the last 20 years, but they did not evolve with rock. Axl has no genre or limitation. He is hard rock not by being like the 80's or recreating Appetite style stuff over and over again like Duff Slash and Izzy will do. I really think SDIM stuff will be very 80's/70's blues driven which without Axl will sound cliche and boring. They just want to stay loyal to hard rock and not enter the next level with Axl. Axl is writing music that is hard but melodic, it doesn't belong in any category, it transcends muscially genre. Kind of like Pink FLoyd, Stones. Jethro Tull, Sabbath, etc all the great bands. Who knows maybe Axl could start his own movement in rock. A movement back towards passionate vocals withe real range and the inclusion of complicated compositions instead of just "heavy raw and honest" guitar, bass, and drum garage rock. The stripped down "lets just jam" attitude in rock is out played itself and is boring. The rock world needs a refreshing change back to large scale masterpiece compostitions. My best wishes to Matt, Duff, Slash and Izzy. I personally think that they should all follow the vision and talent of Izzy and write some "country honky tonk jivin" material. Izzy always had a good ear for that bluesy swingin honky tonk sound, it was one of the best parts of the old Gnr. Long live Axl, Dirk is right, "Axl reigns as Gnr."

I bet Izzy, SLash and Duff are jealous and just want to fuck up Axl's new Gnr. I bet they don't give a shit about their gnr legacy or cutting edge rock anymore so they want to contaminate the gnr name. I bet they dress up in leapard spandex and put on make up and hairspay their hair real big and puffy just to embarrass Axl and the gnr name. If they can't be with Axl and have the new fame then no one can. They want to connect Gnr to "80's cheeze spandex hairspray cock rock" which of course they never were, but many people might not remember clearly and when they see the Slash and Izzy project purposely embarrassing themselves to destroy Axl and the gnr legacy people will assume that gnr are a clueless washed up 80's band. Fuck Slash, Izzy, and Duff. They want to destroy Axl because they realize they fucked up by leaving the greatest hard rock frontman and singer of all time. They fucked up and they know it. They are sellouts who are doing the project to jump on Axl's gnr buzz. Where were they when Axl was writing shit for 9 years and all the hard work he put into a world tour. He is the brains and the worker behind the gnr legacy, sure Izzy wrote some of their best songs but Axl helped. It was always Axl's rappy jivin raspy vocals that brought all their songs to the legendary rock stratosphere. They are the sellouts. They need money. If Axl needed money he would of put out some new album years ago. He is a real genius who is ready to show the world his music. Slash is the best soloist I have ever heard and to write the melodic masterpieces he did I will always be greatful, but he just writes straight forward rock songs which nobody gives a fuck about anymore. Its all been done. You can keep making the same shit over and over again "in the name of staying loyal to hard rock" or you can be a real rock musician like Axl Rose. Gnr Rule and I have got my ticket to tonights show in Vancouver long live Buckethead! Sorry Slash unless you beg for Axl's forgiveness your legacy as the greatest guitarist ever is in dire straits. You NEED Axl buddy, come on admit it to yourself. Axl is Lord and you must submit. Izzy is a prophet but not God himself, so go follow the false prophet and condemn yourself to rock n roll "where are they now" land. cowboy boots, blues scales, and leather are linked with "Clueless old people who wanna rock." If Izzy, Slash and Duff don't try theri hardest to get back with Axl, they risk becoming like Sammy Hagar instead of mysterious "larger than life" unapproachable rock legends like Ozzy and Robert Plant.

Its funny that you guys seem to think this new GnR is going to go somewhere. Yes, they are playing to sold out shows, but they are also playing lots of old GnR songs (Which is whats keeping the attention of the people). When (or IF) this Chinese Democracy album ever comes out it will either:
A - Not sell worth a shit
B - Sell good, but after hearing the new GnR and realizing it isnt the old GnR people will stray away.
Its also pathetic how you are all on Axl's nuts. I mean shit, any true fan of any band would know that one person doesnt make up the fucking band.

Once in awhile I do pick things apart (your responce for example). If you are referring to me picking apart GnR thats only cause retards are sucking Axl's nuts and seem to think he created any and everything pertaining to the GnR albums.
I laughed at this sentence. I love solos, they are fucking great. Flashy frontmen are cool, but the ones that piss me off are the ones whos egos go through the fucking roof once they make it big (David Lee Roth for example)

I saw them at docklands in august an' they proper rocked. New stuff rocks, cant wait for album.

I apologize Tavz for my angry comments. I was having a bad day. I see that you are an "orthodox" gnr fan. I have accepted the new gnr and I respect your opinion if you don't feel gnr can exist without Slash, Duff, and Izzy. They truly are great, but I have to stick with Axl's amazing and soulful vocals. It was his vocals and lyrics that touched my heart and lit my fuse of teenage angst and rage. He truly is one of rock's greatest frontmen and singers. I have to admit it would be great if the old band were back together, but I have given that hope up and moved on. It took my a long time to accept Axl's new band and now that I have finally come to not only accept but appreciate the talent of the new band I must follow Axl's vision. You sound like a calm and rational rock critic and I respect that. You don't cuss a lot, but you do call a lot of people idiot and retard. Oh well, gnr rule. Korn and Staind suck. David Lee Roth was fun to watch but was an arrogant asshole, but you have to admit he sang some of the greatest party anthems of all time. Eddie rules.

You said that it was Axls voice and lyrics that got you the most out of GnR. For me it was the guitars and catchy riffs, thats prolly why I stick with the rest of the band. Though, I will say it again, I do love Axls voice and lyrics, they are great.

Sebastian Bach, former frontman of Skid Row, would work. I think he learned a lesson with Skid Row, not to take all the credit or you'll get kicked out of a great band. We know he has talent and if he could get along with matt, slash and duff, things would work out. Maybe Bach's style is too heavy. I think Axl is going to have a run for his money if this band works out w/ or w/out Bach. It should rock.

I never claimed to know a lot about music, I only know about music I like. Im not buying into anything, I heard some of the news GnR songs and I dont like them, simple as that. Assuming these songs will be on the new album I can say that yes, if the rest are like this then I could give a shit about the new album. But maybe a few songs will stand out that I like and maybe it will be better than I expect, have to wait and see.
BTW, I wouldnt have said you suck cock if maybe you didnt come off as an asshole towards me.

Firstly Korn are shit and they dont deserve to be discussed on this page, secondly i think that Axls band is going to sound alot different to SIMD's band cos Axl wanted to do new things with GNR whereas SIMD where happy with what they where already doing and didnt want to change there style, but both bands are gonna kick ass so it doesnt really matter what has happened just as long as we dont have to put up with this nu-metal shit for any longer cos that really sucks and the music industry has been calling out for the return of GNR cos there hasnt been a band anywhere near as good since.

first off, slash's solo stuff was mediocre at best. izzy's solo stuff is decent, but he's lost his edge, he won't even tour!!! axl is a maniac i admit, but at least he wanted to grow as an artist, and not make new versions of music the band had already done. the ex-gunners were lazy, looking for quick cash. axl will come out with some good music that won't appeal to all beause most people dont understand real music anymore. who wrote estranged and coma?= Axl!!! while i understand the ex-gunners trying to cash in, it's not sincere, and should not be taken as much more than a bunch of guys with nothing better to do. even slash himself would like axl back!!! without axl, gnr would not have been anything. . . but axl very easily could have been something in another band. it's just too bad that the old crew won't get back together. . . butt that's what being lazy will get you exers. now cash in while you can!!!
