Former THE GATHERING Singer Launches AGUA DE ANNIQUE
- June 5, 2007
|
|
|
Former THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen has announced the formation of a brand new band called AGUA DE ANNIQUE.
"Over the last 10 years I have turned many dreams and experiences into songs," Anneke said in a statement. "I started recording a selection of the very personal ones during the past six months. We've laid down the basic tracks at the Waterfront Studios in Rotterdam and recorded overdubs at The Void in Eindhoven, as well as in the comfort of my own home studio. I'm excited to send these songs off into the world and share them with [everyone]!
"I have formed a band called AGUA DE ANNIQUE to help me voice these songs. We will release an album called 'Air' in the fall of 2007.
"Besides the wonderfully talented people in the band, a few of my friends will make appearances on this album. The lovely Kristin Fjellseth will sing additional vocals, Jeffrey Fayman has made a string arrangement for a song called 'Ice Water'. Heleen de Witte plays the flute and Timothy Conroy provided some killer trumpet work. The album is mixed by Jon Anders Narum."
AGUA DE ANNIQUE is:
Anneke van Giersbergen - Vocals/Piano Joris Dirks - Guitars/Vocals Jacques de Haard - Bass Rob Snijders - Drums
Anneke van Giersbergen's final appearance with THE GATHERING will take place on August 4 at the Ankkarock festival in Finland.

I thought the Gathering were touring with Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation.
I had no idea she was leaving The Gathering after this tour. I hadn't had a chance to see The Gathering yet and it looks as if I never will.
That sucks. Her boyfriend is in the band though so it may work out. It all worked out for Liv Kristine. I hope The Gathering don't disband.

Well that move doesn't seem premeditated.
It's fucked up for The Gathering, she had this whole thing set up beforehand.

I didn't really dig the last couple albums by The Gathering, but I got to see (and meet) them twice back in 2000. If_Then_Else and Nighttime Birds are still two albums I absolutely love to this day. That sucks to hear that Anneke's leaving. Was there a Blabbermouth posting on this awhile back or something? I don't remember seeing a thing about it and I visit the site pretty often...

Like when Bmouth mentioned a little while ago about "former Candlemass singer".
Wow!
Okay you guys I don't want to see any references to Paul Dianno or Al Atkins. I'll try to nip this in the bud before we get alot of hatin up here.

"Okay you guys I don't want to see any references to Paul Dianno or Al Atkins."
Just like Maiden and Di'Anno, The Gathering will suffer without Anneke van Giersbergen.
It had to be said; I was baited.

Man Alive, I was just thinking that today...Would I be a post-Kristin Fjellseth-era Pale Forest fan if Kristin Fjellseth ever left the Pale Forest fold, and would I be a post- Anneke Van Giersbergen The Gathering fan if Anneke ever left The Gathering???
I am a big fanatic of Kristin Fjellseth ( Crest of Darkness/ Pale Forest/ Kristin Fjellseth ( now as a solo artist) ). I listen to Kristin Fjellseth-era Crest of Darkness " The Ogress " Listenable Records POSH015 and Pale Forest's " Exit Mould" Listenable Records POSH034 everyday...!!!
Really Glad to see Kristin Fjellseth and Anneke Van Giersbergen working together again. If you have The Gathering's " Monsters" EP, where they share the same stage.... I consider " Monsters " More of A Kristin Fjellseth/ Pale Forest collectors item more than The Gathering one.
When I first heard The Gathering's classic/ must-have masterpiece; " Nighttime Birds" I was searching for a companion piece to that classic album. And Pale Forest's " Exit Mould" more than exceeded my expectations....something to go with those early The 3rd and the Mortal/ 1995 & 1997 The Gathering Recordings.
Honestly I would really be floored if Kristin Fjellseth was the successor to Anneke Van Gersbergen, every Crest of Darkness/ Pale Forest (Kristin Fjellseth) fanatic would love to see that happen.
Really looking forward to Agua De Annique's debut album and the debut album of Kristin Fjellseth.
My number 1 wantlist's item for 2007 is.
The new Pale Forest CD.
The Kristin Fjellseth debut CD.
The upcoming The Gathering DVD
Agua De Annique's debut album.
...Oh Century Media has reissuesed Asphyx "The Rack", Jag Panzer " Fourth Judgement" and Strapping Young Lad's "City". So run to the local metal shop now and get those, and lets hope Century Media Reissues " Nighttime Birds" like the current reissues and The Mandylion deluxe edition.
I will always support and purchase every item released by Anneke Van Giersbergen and Kristin Fjellseth; no matter what genre the music happens to be in. Because of the respect and admiration, earned... due to be a fan of the album's "The Ogress", " Exit Mould"-- Kristin Fjellseth and " Nighttime Birds "--Anneke Van Giersbergen. A fan of both artist for a decade, and I know... I will be a lifelong fanatic of both World Class Vocalist and World Class Artist.
Long Live The Gathering ...!!!!!!
Long Live Anneke Van Giersbergen ...!!!
Long Live Pale Forest...!!
Long Live Kristin Fjellseth ...!!!!!!

Well at the very least I hope this means that they will go heavier again, but i'm not holding my breath...seriously though, what kind of self-respecting guys reglegate themselves to playing bubblegum chick rock for the rest of their lives after awesome stuff like Always, Almost a Dance and Mandylion? I say bring back Jelmer and Hugo, get another singer and make another great album in the vein of the early stuff.
