QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: Entire New Album Available For Streaming - June 6, 2007
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's new album, "Era Vulgaris", is available for streaming in its entirety at MuchMusic.com. Due on June 12, the CD follows up 2005's "Lullabies to Paralyze".

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's video for their new track "Sick, Sick, Sick" has been posted at Yahoo! Music. The clip was shot in the Los Angeles area with director Brett Simon (SUM 41, LOSTPROPHETS). The song is the first single off "Era Vulgaris".

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will visit primarily small markets this summer on their Duluth tour, which begins July 22 in Costa Mesa, Calif. The 13-date trek in support of "Era Vulgaris" will run through Aug. 11 in Oklahoma City.

"We want to play to people who hardly ever get shows and just burn the house down," QUEENS frontman Josh Homme tells Billboard.com of the outing, which will precede a major market run in September. "I think we're too stoked to not go deeper than we have before. It feels like the right time to go, 'Hey, man, sorry I'm late, but here we are.'"

Jul. 24 - Chico, Calif. - Senator Theatre
Jul. 25 - Eugene, Ore. - McDonald Theatre

^ The world hates you. Just letting you know.

This album is good. It'll grow on me a little more hopefully, but for the time being it's good.

"Will somebody tell me what the hell Era Vulgaris means?"

era = mistress, lady
vulgaris = common, ordinary, usual

"Rarely, instead of 'CE', one finds the abbreviation 'e.v.' or 'EV', for 'Era Vulgaris' (Latin for 'Common Era')."

And no, "era" is not a "mistress/lady"...

Era Vulgaris means "Common Era", used to describe the period in time formerly known as Anno Domini (In the year of our Lord) - so that's everything in the last 2007 years. Its a secular way of saying AD.

Abby: I don't think Era ever means lady, at least not in Latin or English. Era means a period of time, usually used to denote a section of history.

is really trying way too hard for cult status.... That is, cult status on a single website. Sad really.

Are they even still around? Were they ever even relevant?

If you say so, man.

Anyone heard the QOTSA? They do have a couple good albums. maybe not as metal as Creed, sure...but I like 'em.

You are right. Josh was interviewed about it and said "common era" was the meaning, but he named the album Era Vulgaris because it sounded cool. Like we are living in a vulgar era. I think both the real meaning and Josh's really fit together

I was just curious about the title too, so I put both words into a latin translator. I was actually suprised that era came up mistress, as I always thought it referred to a period of time (which I know it does, just not in latin I guess).

I appreciate people telling me what "Era Vulgaris" means, but I'm referencing the "Bulby" cartoons that the band has been using to promote the album...

Go to YouTube and write in "Queens of the Stone Age Bulby", there will be two short cartoons. Then you'll get it ;)

Thanks, that made me laugh. (and yeah, I got the reference).

I'm going to buy this album just because of the cover. It helps that the music is kick ass too.
