It's Official: COREY TAYLOR Is Working With ANTHRAX On New Album

SLIPKNOT/ STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed that he has been working with ANTHRAX on material for their upcoming studio album. Speaking to Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Taylor said of the possibility that he will become the new ANTHRAX singer, "It's been bandied about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about. Obviously, I'm really good friends with those guys. It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands. We're just kind of taking baby steps right now. I know that we worked on about eight or nine songs together that I've written lyrics for, and there was a song that I had actually written for them that I was just gonna give them the music for, and once this kind of happened, I had to turn around and write lyrics for it myself. But there's nothing definite right now. It's one of those things where it's like we're just gonna kind of play it by ear and just see what happens. So there's nothing definite. It's something that we're talking about — it's something that we kind of wanna do. But I'm in two huge bands right now. So it's like I barely get enough time to sleep, let alone do another band. . . I'm gonna be busy, period. I'm just kind of honored that they would even consider me. These are people that I grew up listening to, these are guys that I had the privilege of getting to know on a real basis. To have them look at me and go, 'You know what? We would love to work with you,' it's such a huge compliment. It kind of makes me feel like I've come a long way in my life." A video clip of ANTHRAX performing its cover of the PUBLIC ENEMY classic "Bring the Noise" with Corey Taylor at the 2003 With Full Force festival in Germany is available for viewing at YouTube. ANTHRAX announced its split with vocalist Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after the group's classic lineup reunited for a "25th anniversary" tour. A replacement singer will officially be announced at the end of June, according to guitarist Scott Ian.

Sometimes bands have to make lineup changes to continue on, that doesn't necessarily ruin a band. I am going to give the new CD a listen before I decide whether I will continue to buy Anthrax CD's. To say it sucks before I even hear it is a little retarded.

to describe how crappy this is going to be. Not that Corey isn't a good singer but now S & C are going to try and write hits to cash in on this move and the music will suffer worse than ever. Believe me, it will happen. Those guys have been dying to become relevant again and have tried just about everything to get there (just listen to the inconsistent last few records), and in their eyes this has to be a huge chance for them. In reality it really will probably suck because there is little to no way that it can work out from a logistical standpoint. This is a bad move, fellas.

This is my first post ever. Ive never signed in at all. just read news. But Anthrax is one of my favorite bands of all time. With Joey or John.
But fucking Corey Taylor man. I hope this is some crule joke.
I know Charlie and Scott are the biggest duche bags in the industry but shit man the reunion and now this.
I wanna hear em say that this, Like the reunion, Is NOT about the money.

I'll listen to it, but I just don't like the idea of corey taylor being in the band.
He's a great vocalist
...Just not for anthrax. I know what it'll sound like... It's not that hard to picture what the two sound like together. Everyong knows what Taylor is capable of, and he's good... But I don't see him fitting in.

So sad to see a once great band die such a cruel & miserable death. John Bush was the PERFECT voice for the band & TSOWN & WCFYA albums are some of the best metal records of all time. But now it's all too late thanks to Charlie & Scott doing that cash-cow reunion thing with Joey.
I'll miss you guys. Thanks for some great music & memories.

Some of you guys WILL NEVER be happy. I remember when some people wanted the reunion with Belladonna, when that happened everyone freaked out and said bring back Bush.
Now they bring in Corey (perhaps) and he can add to thier sound and make it different.
Anthrax IMO have not released a solid record since "The Sound of White Noise". That album sounded nothing like the classic "Persistance of Time" Also note that Anthrax helped pioneer the Rap/rock genre in its infantile stages of development. Many of you guys hate NU metal and Anthrax didnt exactly invent it but thier collaborations with Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys didnt hurt it either!
Anthrax have become so irrellavent that change now would be a good thing as they do not even know who they are anymore.

no matter what singer they have it matters not when the music is soooooo fucking bad. S & C have not been able to write a decent tune in 15 years. That is why they haven't sold records not because of all the "label issues" they claim. This is a prime example of a band who has made wrong move after wrong move trying desperately to become relevant in the modern era. That motivation comes form the wrong place and they will never be worth a shit until they realize that no matter who the fuck is singing.

That's not hard to believe since the time I watch them perform while on tour ....I think it was Corey Taylor that said he does give a shit or something along those lines to me....the words might be mixed up but that was the comment from him. I was just like ok.....I felt like saying I'm just here to see the show... growl. This is why I'm not surprised to see the subject brought up.....if he does then good going for him...although I think it's better with the normal vocalist ....he will not be able to replace the hair man.

they were ok nothing impressive but the kids (which the audience did mostly consist of) went mental for corey taylor they didnt shout stone sour they shouted corey
this will increase their record sales 400%

I used to have the utmost respect for Anthrax. They were one of the few bands left with integrity. Now their new album will sound like nu-metal garbage whether it is or not. First Metallica and now this. At least Mustaine is still going strong, and Risk is not as bad as everyone says. Testament, Overkill, Nevermore, Death Angel, Armored Saint AC/DC , Sabbath, Maiden, Priest are A few bands who know what it's about and give their fans what they want. Ian, like Hetfield, Slayer (nu-metal style songs on a Slayer cd?????) and Vinnie Paul (respect, but he should be drumming for a metal band) have totally lost the plot.

They had the opportunity to bow out gracefully in '98, but no...... they just want to run the name of a once classic band into the ground. A nu singer isn't gonna help a band that hasn't written any good music since 1992.... Scott and Charlie will do anything to revive the dead horse that is Anthrax. I quit caring when they fucked over Joey the first time, jumped back on board when they got him back, and then refused to ever listen again once Joey left again.

It's very profitable for Anthrax to have Corey in the band. If it will work or not depends on the quality of the songs. I doubt that Corey has the time to juggle between three bands. I'm not a fan of Slipknot but I believe Corey is not a bad singer. If it works great. I know many people will have a problem with these news.

I'm one of the biggest ANTHRAX FANS
I love all the BELLADONA STUFF and the BUSH STUFF
saw them with both lineups, and own all their albums
BUT COME ON!!!!!!
REcently this band is becoming a JOKE.
And to put COREY TAYLOR from slipnot...a band most anthrax fans don't like, is DUMB. I hope its not true......sure slipnot fans will show up to the gigs,.....but a lot less of their oRIG. fans that made them big will not show up

First let me say...I hate Slipknot and Stone Sour is so-so
But, I am not one of those ppl that jump on the nu-metal bandwagon but after hearing Stone Sours latest single "Made Of Scars" I can see this union coming alive. Corey sounds like John when he hols those notes and he also has the high "pitchy" sound that Joey had. I am willing to give this version a shot due to the fact I firmly believe Corey embodies both Anthrax vocalists. Just because Corey is from the nu-generation doesn't mean he can't sing old style aas a matter of fact he more than ANY current nu-metal vocalist can actually sing! Put the right music behind him and he will shine above the rest. The one comment that I 100% agree with is that if Corey does indeed join Anthrax, he needs to be fully commited to Anthrax and Anthrax alone.
Don't think for a minute Anthrax will go nu-metal but rather convert Corey to classic thrash metal.
I for one will fully support this version and all you naysayers will be pleasantly suprised by the outcome. I know, I know, it's easier to bash Corey for being born 10 years late and not around during Anthrax's heyday. So go on, and continue to do so because after the dust settles it'll be you retracting all the negative thing you said. Anthrax are just looking for the best man to cover John's songs which isn't an easy task but if anyone can pull it off it's Corey. Practically any singer can imitate Joey to an extent but not just anyone can imitate John.
Great choice IMO.

Without Taylor then Slipknot will devolve into 2nd or 3rd tier status within metal. Theyll be like Kittie is...have a hardcore following but not big enough to play anything bigger than major clubs.

If it ain't obvious these two are trying to ride on this guy's coat tails. Corey should take some advice, he's in two fairly successful bands right now (whether I like the music is besides the point) and to join the Anthrax train to miedocrity hell is a baaaaaaad move.. The only ones that stand to benefit from this are Charlie boy and $cott. Fuck em and send them on their way.
Anthrax is now an absolute joke...

Blah. Corey Taylor's lyrics were maybe the one thing that could've made Anthrax lamer.
What do you call it when a once-decent-now-mediocre band sells out in every possible way and manage to be mediocre even at that? Anthrax.
They might be a little better if Scott Ian spent all that time he spends douching around on VH1 writing decent songs. That aren't retreads.

At least for me.
I got into Anthrax in 1987 with Among The Living, I accepted the lineup change after Persistence Of Time, enjoyed Sound Of White Noise with John Bush and liked at least parts of the later Bush-era albums. I was surprised and confused by the "classic reunion" and even more so by the sudden end of the "reunion" lineup.
At this point, I expected Anthrax to bring back John Bush or to call it quits and start under another moniker. But with that overrated Slipknot guy, it's not Anthrax anymore. Musically, the results may be OK, but to call this lineup Anthrax would be a big mistake. Mark my words...

What is considered good or bad singing? either way I support this, I think it sounds kind of cool...than again I'm an in the closet Slipknot fan...anyway, this will draw more attention to them and the dude is a fan and they are all kind of helping each other out so its all cool...but man, I still wish Anthrax could get a singer and have them stick...anyway, this should be cool unless it isn't

I'll be honest I dont like Stone sour or Slipknot , never have probaboly never will , but im not gonna say they suck or anything cause its just a matter of opinion , but Corey singing for Anthrax is a nightmare to me . It cant be any worse then john bush but Anthrax is an old school thrash band that needs an old school singer in my opinion .
Joey was the best singer they ever had I think and Neil kicked ass too , its just so sad that they cant get along with Joey .
