RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE: Alpine Valley Show Officially Announced
- June 11, 2007
|
|
|
After weeks of rumors and speculation, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has officially confirmed its only Midwest date on August 24 the Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin. Support at the show will come from QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. Tickets go on sale June 16.
Following the band's first performance in seven years at the Coachella Festival in April, its only other confirmed gigs are four dates on the Rock The Bells tour, in late July in New York City and in mid-August in California.
RAGE guitarist Tom Morello recently told Launch that the initial impetus to reactivate the band was not financial but political. "People never stopped offering RAGE shows throughout the whole seven years while the band was gone," he said. "But we got together, and taking a look at the dire times that we live in and, you know, RAGE was certainly the most outspoken political voice in rock music throughout the Nineties, I mean, I think it's long overdue that RAGE comes back and has a say."
(Thanks: Rev)

It's too Rage was always more worried about their political views than about the music.
The boo-hooing they have done about all the "injustices" of the world is sickening given their musical talent.
Focus on the music, not about how "bad" life is, pussies.

LOL to your response. The world doesn't "need" any rock band for political reasons. What tangible political and social changes has Rage Against the Machine made as a rock band? The band serves as an entertainment platform by which 4 males "voice" their opinions. I don't see them making any real changes in the world. Like System of a Down, Rage profits like hell from the very "evil" system and "empire" that they criticize and claim to disagree with. It wouldn't surprise me if Mr. de la Rocha and Dubbya play golf together.

I agree... Isn't it SO EASY yo voice your opinion, and be extremely "against the grain", when you are rich, well known, your back catalogue still sells swiftly, (on a major label) and you have nothing to lose. I am not saying they are a good or bad band... It is their schtick, though, it's what they do, oh well... QOTSA should be headlining anyhow, their gonna smokiame Rage.
Off the subject again, Why is everyone hip on the rap rock again anyhow???

Alpine Valley, what a great place to see a show. The acoustics are phenomenal in the valley. I saw Rage along time ago and to tell you the truth, were ready for them to shut the hell up and just play. All their political crap got stale after the first break between songs.

I am being sarcastic however, I wish there were a forum to rightly condemns errors without going to SS type forum groups.
Firstly, how have Americans never seen certain persons before, when these persons, both those that travelled to Spain after Rome, and persons from, well you get the idea, both these groups went to Ireland among other places.
I would type more, but its fatiguing

for all their political crap but alot of you beat me to it. glad to see a few independent thinkers out there! congratulations!
but i'd love to mention how bad they suck ass at trying to make music! rap -metal is a bad enough cop-out for haks trying to squeek by in the music business but these collage-boy idiots are at the top of the heap of suck-ass, tone-deaf, teen-age angst and rebellion exploiting capitalists in the FREE market!

Your argument that Rage's lyrics cause political and social change is fruitless. Second, your presumption that no one here except you 'knows what they're talking about' is unfounded and pointless. Lastly, you try to argue that Rage is a political force that brings about political and social change. So prove your argument. It says nothing to claim that their lyrics improve the world unless you can demonstrate that it does. So where is your proof?

1. Bush has been in office for 7 years, yet no Rage. 2. The Iraq War has been slagging on for darn near 5 years, yet no Rage. 3. Genocide in Darfur, no Rage. 4. Live 8, no Rage 5. Global Warming, no Rage 6. PATRIOT Act, wire taps, no Rage 7. Guantanomo Bay detainment center, no Rage 8. Immigration Reform, no Rage 9. Paris Hilton goes to jail, no Rage
YET!!!!
10. Chris Cornell breaks up Audioslave and the accountants discover that the cash flows from the Rage catalog + Nightwatchman live gigs < Business Expenses and...TA, DA!!!! All of a sudden there's plenty of Rage.
Personally, I think their political views are bunk but they have every right to voice their opinions. What is really sad, though, is that they think we came down with the last drop of rain and can't see the real rationale for this "reunion".
Like the tunes; would love new music as well. If you're hoping to sway politics with your music, though you should be playing to lemmings...not the free-thinking individuals that you purport to cater to.

they preach anti u.s., pro socialist/communist views like they're opening the eyes of american youths, yet they are free to thrive and get rich in the very same system they choose to bash, meanwhile socialism(venezuala) and communism (russia, n.korea) are doing to people what they want everyone to "wake up" to, not really pointing out where the true human rights violaters are.
let them spread whatever "message" they want, and kudos for whatever help they tried to give, i'm sure it helps them sleep better at night......BUT......
they're short-sighted, hypocritical, tone-deaf, AND rich!

You have to closed of a mind to actually grasp the concept of rage if you have nothing else to say about them but how they leech off this society. Bands like these are to far and few between. They have lyrics with actual meaning wich stimulate actual thought about the goings on in our society. Yes, the lyrics do single out American ignorance, but you must understand that as a world power our society is extremely uninvolved with how we conduct our Foreign Policies as well as some domestic. Ya we bitch, but we do nothing and just let the wrong doings glaze our vision because we are to close minded, and hang ourselves on minor detail. What can one man do?.....A Lot! **whines**Ooohhh RATM is profiting off there messages, they're hypocrites. And you've done nothing but single out the very worst in everything in life and thats your contribution to our society. Thanks, but No Thanks. Quit your whinning. So what they are rich, if they are, I fell better giving them my hard earned money than I do this current political administration. I just wish I could have paid for the tx as a before tax deduction on my paycheck. HAH
