KORN frontman
Jonathan Davis has revealed to
AOL's
PopEater music blog that he has begun writing an opera entitled
"Oblivion" with
Richard Gibbs and
Clive Barker.
Davis says the "dark opera" will be "way different" from
KORN's style and is about the end of the world. He has just started writing the music for it, but he will not be starring in it.
In other
Jonathan Davis news, the singer is putting out a coffee table book of 12 of his favorite horror stories illustrated by 12 of his favorite artists. More information will be revealed in
Jonathan Davis'
AIM interview, which will be live on Friday, June 22.
As
BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on Monday,
KORN will film a video for the first single,
"Evolution", off its upcoming untitled album, on Friday, June 15 in the Los Angeles area. Since the band will be on the road in Europe during this time, it is believed that they will not appear in the actual clip. Directing the video will be
Dave Meyers, who previously worked with
KORN on the clip for
"Twisted Transistor".
According to the
"Evolution" casting call sheet, the video will be "filled with political satire and humor."
The production team is seeking mostly male actors to play such characters as "hero scientists," religious politicians, doctors, green peace guys, anthropologists, military men and "government types."
On the topic of the
"Evolution" single,
KORN frontan
Jonathan Davis recently said, "
'Evolution' is about us as a human race. We have not evolved since monkeys. Animals and humans are pretty much the same. Look at this war we're fighting; we're the bullies — same shit in the monkey world."
KORN's eighth studio album is scheduled for release on July 31 via
Virgin Records. The CD was produced by
KORN's
"See You On The Other Side" producer
Atticus Ross (
Ross is also known for his revolutionary work with
NIN).
