KORN Frontman Writes Opera, Plans Coffee Table Book - June 13, 2007
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has revealed to AOL's PopEater music blog that he has begun writing an opera entitled "Oblivion" with Richard Gibbs and Clive Barker.

Davis says the "dark opera" will be "way different" from KORN's style and is about the end of the world. He has just started writing the music for it, but he will not be starring in it.

In other Jonathan Davis news, the singer is putting out a coffee table book of 12 of his favorite horror stories illustrated by 12 of his favorite artists. More information will be revealed in Jonathan Davis' AIM interview, which will be live on Friday, June 22.

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on Monday, KORN will film a video for the first single, "Evolution", off its upcoming untitled album, on Friday, June 15 in the Los Angeles area. Since the band will be on the road in Europe during this time, it is believed that they will not appear in the actual clip. Directing the video will be Dave Meyers, who previously worked with KORN on the clip for "Twisted Transistor".

According to the "Evolution" casting call sheet, the video will be "filled with political satire and humor."

The production team is seeking mostly male actors to play such characters as "hero scientists," religious politicians, doctors, green peace guys, anthropologists, military men and "government types."

On the topic of the "Evolution" single, KORN frontan Jonathan Davis recently said, "'Evolution' is about us as a human race. We have not evolved since monkeys. Animals and humans are pretty much the same. Look at this war we're fighting; we're the bullies — same shit in the monkey world."

KORN's eighth studio album is scheduled for release on July 31 via Virgin Records. The CD was produced by KORN's "See You On The Other Side" producer Atticus Ross (Ross is also known for his revolutionary work with NIN).

An "opera" about the end of the world? Didn't Trent Reznor pretty much just do this with Year Zero?

That has been a project for nearly 10 years now. I was wondering what ever became of it.

Can't Davis just admit that he prefers the company of men?

If Jonathan Davis can't even write something as simple as a decent Alt. Rock song........ how the hell is he going to write something as elaborate as an Opera?

I think it's great that he is writting something for Opera since he helped with the music of Queen of the damned... the sound track of the movie is well liked be me and if he can give that kind of feel for Opera that will be an Opera worth going to see. I see where he going with his comment about monkeys and people being bullies.....that is understandable by any person that has seen the way the world sometimes works if it's his comment anyway...seems like he's keeping himself busy while touring.

This guy just ratcheted a few notches higher on my enemies list. What a complete fucking tool.
If humans haven't evolved since the monkey (which is complete bull shit because where is the evidence that we are still evolving and evolving into something else?), that lumps DAVIS into that category too!
His "Dark Opera" is very monkeyesque because it is beyond primitive that a guy like him would attempt to tag "opera" to anything that comes out of his primate, mother fucking head!

Ron Maiden lol hes your "enemy" because of a personal opinion? you are a fuckin tool. You more than likely have never met jon and you call him an enemy lol you are pathetic. "daddy?!" who said korn was metal anyway? Get your facts straight. Hardcoor, maybe clive barker has an open mind, unlike most people on this website who bashes a band mearly because of the fact that are popular/main stream when im sure 8 - 10 years ago you had korn posters on your walls and all their albums. Jon Davis is doing what he wants, at least he has the balls to expand his talent and not bitch an moan about everything like dave mustaine and bruce dickenson.
