LED ZEPPELIN To Reunite In Honor Of Late ATLANTIC Founder? - June 25, 2007
According to World Entertainment News Network, rock legends LED ZEPPELIN will reportedly reunite for a one-off memorial concert in honor of their late record boss before embarking on a world tour.

ZEPPELIN has only performed a handful of concerts, including Live Aid in 1985, since its split in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham.

But, if the reports are to be believed, singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will re-group alongside Bonham's son Jason for a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London.

A source says, "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date.

"And no one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out.

"It has been hoped for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year."

Ertegun died in December 2006 after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a ROLLING STONES concert.

there have been (many) rumors of a reunion before, including for a major anniversary of the msg arena in nyc, but none of them have panned out, so i'll believe it when i see it...

would love it to happen, though!

They might as well just to please the millions upon millions of fans who would love to see this but I've always fealt they were an overrated and boring band. As a business decision it would mean a massive spike in their paychecks I'm sure.

long overdue.

Jonesy wrote the bulk of the last 3 records.
As Page was getting more fucked up, Jones
was contributing and saving the band from decay.

It wouldn't be zep without him

I don't it will happen. Any who saw Page/Plant may have been the last time they will play together. Plant has always said it won't happen. If it does he still has the chops, not so sure about Page though. He only played a partial tour with the Black Crowes before having to cancel because of his bad back.

in all honesty it will be a nostalgia only concert. I can't imagine them being able to pull of any of the classic Zeppelin songs in concert without majorly reworking them (sort of like they did with Unplugged). Robert just doesn't have the voice to hit those notes anymore.

Let's see.... a couple shows.... shoot some footage and a DVD.

With age being the obvious thing here....... I don't think anyone can expect the magic of 30 years ago. If you go into this thinking "oh yeah, this is the best" you are only fooling yourself. I think that the 3 of them with Jason would be great to see but you can't expect Plant to hit some of those notes anymore.

Clapton and Co. can pull off tours cause they never stopped and re-tooled themselves.

I guess in a perfect world, the three of them would first get together with Junior to see if they all still had the chops, drive and desire. And if (as Dio and Sabbath did last year) that turned into a few new tunes or better yet, a full length new album and tour that could be the sucess-story reunion of 2008. How freakin' cool would that be?

I agree with the person that they should have done it ten years ago. But if they were to tour, they'd rehearse their ass off. They arrre too proud of guys to put a second rate show on. And they said a tour next year, not this year. Bonham can always take a break from Foreigner. Sure it wouldn't be the Zep of the 70's but just to hear the original 3 playing those songs together again would be cool.

They should do it for charity instead. Everybody here who is trashing Page and Plant don't know dick. I saw them in '98 and they were fantastic.

It needs to happen. Page and Jones (the main songwriting duo through Physical Graffiti before Page became a junkie) have been clear they would do it. Plant has been the hold out and rightfully so. He's the reason the legend is as big as it is, because he's the one who kept Zeppelin from reuniting after Bonham died.

Now let's face it, Jason doesn't have the talent his dad had, but he's improved a lot working with bands like UFO. He's not the weak drummer he was in his 80s buttrock days. He wasn't ready then, but he is now.

Led Zeppelin should reform. It will be the biggest box office smash since the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac reformed. It will make The Police reunion look like a garage band.

Led Zeppelin was the greatest rock band to ever walk this earth, bar none. The sad fact, however, is that Led Zeppelin ceased to exist on 9-25-1980, the day that rock's greatest drummer died. Part of what made Zep so great was the unique chemisty that only those four individuals possessed. Without Bonzo it can never truly be Led Zeppelin, though I'm sure many will ignorantly label them so. Led Zeppelin's engine room, RIP Bonzo.
