METALLICA Frontman Temporarily Detained At British Airport

According to British newspaper The Times, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was temporarily detained by security officials at a British airport. Hetfield jetted into Luton airport ahead of Saturday's (July 7) Live Earth London gig — where his band is performing — but was stopped by officials before he could leave the terminal. The Times claims Hetfield's friends blame his "Taliban-like beard" for the interrogation. METALLICA will join the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, FOO FIGHTERS and others at London's Live Earth concert on July 7 before headlining Wembley Stadium on July 8.

Temporarily detained could mean keeping him an extra 15 minutes while they search his bags for plant material or asking him why he ticked yes on his passenger card on a particular question.
I know it's crazy but sometimes at International airports the security people stop you and either ask you questions or want to search your luggage... ITS MADNESS I KNOW!!! - why would security ever do such a thing??!!..
For Fuck Sake: BLABBERMOUTH are fuckheads for putting a story like this on here anyway - anything to feed the plethora of simpletons here.

The complaint was made by an old-school fan who refuses to be a part of a legion of fans living in the past who keep expecting a thrash album as if it was the second coming. This new horde of fanatics can easily be called the new Kiss Army.
Hetfield used the same defense he's been using since the mid-nineties: He performed a couple of old songs in front of people who were standing at the airport (not waiting for a delayed thrash album, but for a delayed flight) and convinced the authorities that he still "has it" and promised to back his case up with the next album, which he described as being "heavier than anything Metallica ever recorded."

The UK is at severe threat level following the recent failed terrorist activity, so, airport security officials have to take extra precautions and make more than usual random checks. Hetfield was unfortuanately one of those to be stopped.
Learn to fucking read and you will realise it was his friends who made the Taliban beard comment and NOT the security staff.
Oh, and for the record, you call Brits stupid... at least we can foil terrorist plots before they go on to kill thousands, can anyone say "9/11".

This is what happened:*
James walks off plane.
Goes through customs.
As he walks through customs with his friends, a guard asks him a few questions as usually happens or happens quite often to me anyway.
They exchange a few words, ask where you are going, and youre on your way.
While this is occuring, someone from the media goes 'hey thats james hetfield' and approaches his mates while james gets questioned
James' friends say to the reporter as a JOKE 'hey, maybe they think hes from the taliban ha ha hardy har harrr'
and then James finishes off with the security guard and continues walking.
The end!
How retarded are people on here, it was a JOKE BY HIS MATES which is clearly stated in the article, that is NOT WHY HE WAS PULLED OUT BY SECURITY.
If anything, he was detained for 5 minutes MAX and this story is pointless.
I can see it now: 'James Hetfield left only 1 square of toilet paper for some poor guy next in the toilet line on a plane, then the guy joked about how he must have done a huge crap' and then all of a sudden after reading that everyone on here starts saying how huge James Hetfields craps are...

This is truly funny. But British immigration's policy about admitting Americans is mostly subjective and problematic. Getting into that country depends largely on how the immigration officer is feeling the day of your arrival. I've been through immigration with no problems at all, to being detained and to being denied entry--for no legitimate reason. Ridiculous.

The US needs to face up to the fact that it happened because of their hyper-aggressive foreign policy and their internal security services failed to do anything about it - apart from possibly shooting down that plane in Pennsylvania.
