BRENT MUSCAT Drops Legal Battle Over FASTER PUSSYCAT Name
- July 5, 2007

|
According to Todd Kerns, who played guitar in Brent Muscat's recent version of FASTER PUSSYCAT, Muscat has dropped the legal battle over the band's name, effectively allowing Taime Downe to continue with his version of the group.
Said Kerns: "Brent Muscat has decided to forego the entire headache of the legalities involved in fighting for the name FASTER PUSSYCAT. After much soul-searching he decided after the European tour and the couple dates this summer that he's decided to let the other parties carry on with the name.
"I respect Brent's decision. After all he's been through with cancer, he has decided that fighting for it at this juncture in his life is not worth it. He has a family and owns some houses so he's doing just fine.
"Brent will explain in his own words when he's ready.
"We did a kick-ass tour and the reviews were stellar. The FASTER PUSSYCAT that carries on from here has a lot to live up to.
"I am not bummed. I was the fill-in guitar guy. I got to go to Europe and do a bunch of fun stuff. It was my hope that a more thorough 'reunion' would come to fruition out of all this but I don't know about that. If THE POLICE can reunite I think FP should try someday. It would be great for the fans.
"That said, we will not be at Rocklahoma in July. A FASTER PUSSYCAT will be there, just not this one. Haha. Not sure what the future holds for the five guys in our FASTER PUSSYCAT, but only time will tell."

While I agree completely with your statement that they could have been bigger (and should have in my opinion), I disagree with the point that it hurt that it came out the same day as Appetite. Appetite did basically nothing for almost a year before it exploded.
I loved the old Faster Pussycat and was VERY nervous about the new material after hearing the remix album (Between The Valley Of The Ultra Pussy), but after listening to The Power and the Glory Hole a couple of times, I loved it too. It IS different but if you open your minds a little bit, its easy to notice there are some kickass songs on there.

There was a big buzz in the netal community about G'N'R's CD, and the bangers brought it to platinum plus before "Sweet Child" took it to the rest of the ignorant world. Therefore, I wouldn't say it didn't do anything for a year

I liked what Brent was doing with the name recently versus what Taime was doing.
Now Taime will go around in interviews bragging and being an asshole about how he "won" over Brent.

What I hate about Glam/Sleaze bands, is how most fail to stay relevant today. L.A. Guns did it with Waking The Dead, but then went a bit downhill after that.
I find it sad how these 2 versions of FP were fighting over the name, when neither are putting out music of similar quality to their earlier music. Though that's just my opinion of course.
