As the song is right now, I don't like it at all.

I long ago got used to the idea that the Metallica I once raged and thrashed about to is a thing of the past. I am still hoping the new record will have some good stuff within, but I'm not holding out too much hope for such. Nothing to do but wait and see.

Meanwhile, the band is putting on some good shows featuring older material for the most part - and that is cool.

Its a big middle finger to all the fake people who like Metallica, like moms and dads, teachers grandparents, that record was just weed out all the fake poser listeners who liked the Black Album so much. I'm a huge Metallica fan and it seems like this song has the potential to be really good but the whoa-oh stuff has got to go and there needs to be new lyrics. I like the riff a lot and the fact that James was trying to scream again, just needs to work on that a bit though. I'm definately looking forward to the new album though

Are you stupid? Wait, don't tell me. You're one of those people who thinks everything bad that happens is "god testing us". They're JUST A BAND. Ironically all the people you listed as "posers" are the only people who can claim to be original fans. St. Anger was an absolutely shit album. Black Album was a decent rock album. Not a metal album. All the "moms and dads, teachers and grandparents" I'VE ever met who like Metallica like Ride the Lightning. Which WAS their most unique, creative, aggressive and INTERESTING album. What Metallica NEEDS to do is "weed out" all the people who overrate Master of Puppets.

i still do, I watched that RTL clip from 86 and I was all about this band then. I still am and I hope (like Andy Dufresne in Shawshank) that they will put out a kick ass album.

I can honestly say the best concert I have seen by any band thus far in my life was in 88 on the Justice tour, I think the only concert that could of topped it was the Puppets tour, but i was too young then.

I can also say Kirk and Trujillo need some backing Vocal training, Newsted is irreplaceable int hat category and it needs to be addressed, in concert they are now weak in that category. Can you still here Jason screaming on Creeping Death and Blackened? I can.

I am ready for a Metallica album that I can say "Kicks ass" I hope I have it in my hand in early 2008.

I hear ya' metalideth - Jason Nestead is a killer vocalist and a monster bassist - he brought so much to the table. Trujillo, although a solid player, just pales in comparison.

Sad but true, I think Metallica's best days are far behind them.

Recently, seven new wonders of the world were announced. I think 'they' should have waited for Metallica's new record, because if it actually is good, that will be one of the...seven wonders of the world!

Dude I thought this would be a sweet year. New Megadeth and New Metallica. Its kinda funny how I can put the new Megadeth on repeat and still be happy with it while I actually have no hope for the new Metallica record.

Also anyone who defends this song (and/or Metallica for that matter) after hearing it has definitely got some serious blinders on. I'm glad I don't care too much about this band anymore cuz it looks like they're headed for a craptacular album. I heard they're calling it Re-St. Anger.

If you listen to the other songs from this same show they're all mixed properly, this song is the only one of the 20 something tracks where the vocals are hardly audible.

I still think they did this song to please fans in Bilbao who asked for a "New Song"

Metallica's got talent, the potential is there to make a GREAT album,They're practicing more often now and James' voice is getting better with Kirk & James both being VERY gifted guitarist and Rob's awesome ability as a bass player this band could gel together and bring out it's most kickass album in 20 years

A. "The Memory Remains" was replaced with "Dyers Eve"

B. The set was 20 songs & "Trapped Under Ice" was thrown in
for good measure!

C. "Hit The Lights", "motorbreath" , "Metal Militia" were a 3 song medly instead of the other new song because they know we have heard that song in it's unfinished state on the internet!!

D.Complete the album & then mix the new songs into the set.

Just my opinion! Pleases don't beat me up for not liking anything past the Black Album so far.

Newsted is severely missed from this band!!! He brought the fire & heart to the band. Once Jason left the band lost that fire. Newsted's live presence, backing vocals & chops can NEVER be replaced! Especially by some crab-jumping bass player like Rob. Rob's a solid bass player, BUT he doesn't fit in Metallica!!!

James & crew need to take their collective heads out of their asses & apologize to Jason & get him back ASAP!!!

As of yesterday there are still 413 Metallica fans (per a post on here about fans complaining about a short set), so for their sake I hope that Metallica puts out a great record.

Its work in progress, give it chance. As mentioned above, Hetfield did the same thing on the Black Album demos, ive got all of them on the singles from that album and he does the wooooa wooooa thing in pretty much every song. Its usually how singers will come up with a melody and then add the lyrics after to fit with the melody.

In terms of this recording it was very sloppy, Lars' timing on some of it was way out and Hets vocals just died pretty much from the word go.

I liked St Anger, if it was produced better and they had taken more time with vocals it would have been much better but it had some good stuff on it.

I'm looking forward to the new album. After seeing them at Wembley on Sunday i have no doubt that they still have what it takes to deliver the goods.

it's "ok".....I mean, I do agree with some that it sounds kinda like Garage Inc. I like it better than St. Anger, but that's not saying much. It has a lot of punk sound to it. I just hope that the entire album doesn't follow this precedent, or I will be VERY disappointed. They're still my fav band, mainly because the Black Album is the album that I first bought when I was like 10, and the album that got me started in the metal direction. Before that, I was into Phil Collins and shit like that. LOL. I do thank Metallica for that! Guys, don't let us down! There's still some hope left for you guys!

Enough about Hetfields vocals. They are not that bad, especialy lately. Listen to AJFA on this tour. And Lars has rediscovered TECNIQUE on drums! He's tight and fast.

But as far as vox go, I'll take James over the other three Titans: Aria NEVER sounded good live (but he's still a legend), Belladonna is gifted but not my cup of tea; I'm no where near alone there. Mustaine sings through his nasal. So yea, I'll take James on his WORST night, thankyou.

But about the article, I am bummed that this is all they have done of ''new'' stuff this year. I know they have some brutal classics left in them. Even if you hate everything after Justice they (almost) always write very good songs. Fixxer, Wolf and Man, Better than You. Great stuff we wouldnt know about if they tried to force brutal stuff when thier hearts werent in it. And it's better to have 'haters' than "I can take it or leave it"
