IRON MAIDEN, DRAGONFORCE Songs Added To 'Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock'

IRON MAIDEN's "The Number of the Beast" and DRAGONFORCE's "Through the Fire and Flames" are among the latest confirmed tracks for the upcoming Activision title Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
According to GameSpy, since the release of the first Guitar Hero game, DRAGONFORCE has consistently been one of the most requested bands from hardcore players, and will likely be the toughest song in the Guitar Hero series to date; thankfully, including it as a bonus song means it won't prevent anyone from completing the normal campaign.
As previously reported, former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash will provide an original track for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, as well as make an appearance in-game as a boss battle character. The legendary guitarist will not, however, be easy to get to: In order to "unlock" Slash (who donned a motion-capture suit so game makers could track his every pluck), players will have to face him in a one-on-one shredding duel after completing all the songs in the game.

These games are cool...they will teach one about theory and warm you up to a real guitar. Ill be buying it because the number of the beast is on it. Nuff said.

the solos in that dragonforce song are going to be near impossible on that game!
nice to see so many original versions on there... not that the covers haven't been dead on...

I think a change of title is in order. "Legends of Rock" does not suit a game that contains groups like the Beastie Boys, Priestess, Dragonforce, and Tenacious D. The Beastie Boys are a rap group.... and Dragonforce, Priestess, and Tenacious D have not left a big enough impact on rock music to be considered "legends" (one of them hardly qualifies as rock). That said, i was hoping the track list would be an improvement over part 2, but this looks like more of a step back.

why are the beastie boys there?? and why hasn't anyone requested the fucking guitar god JOHN 5 on there. he is WAY better than weezer or dragonforce. lets start emailing them to put JOHN 5 on there.

It's a mix of covers and originals (guessing, depends on publishing / copyright). Have no clue who the "cover band" is at this point. There's a video available of the "making of" but I haven't "bought" it yet.
Just got GH II for the XBox 360 about a week ago, and I haven't been able to keep my hands off it. The Buckethead song "Jordan" is practically impossible for me at this point, and I see Dragonforce shaping up the same way.
Initially, I thought this would fuck up any aspirations I had of ever learning the real instrument but it actually makes you want to learn. In that respect, great for metal...and good exposure for some bands the "mainstream" would never touch.
Plus, where else would I get to see my thirtysomething wife listening intently to Lamb of God?? THAT, my friends, is worth the purchase price...LOL!!

And pls no comments like......REAL GUITAR IS BETTER, or anything comparing real guitar playing and this

There are two types of assholes in this thread:
1 - People complaining about the Beastie Boys because the whole tracklist doesn't cater to their narrow-minded taste in music
and
2 - Dipshits thinking that this is some sort of substitute for learning a guitar. It's a goddamn game! That's like saying why play Grand Theft Auto when you can steal a car for real.

I love all the "Hey, why don't you just play a real guitar?" Well, first off, Guitar Hero is much cheaper. Second, it gives you the illusion of playing your favorite songs in seconds as opposed to years. Also, yeah, there's the option to go steal a car in real life, but I can't, so I can play Grand Theft Auto. There's the option go jump on turtles in real life, but I can't so I'll play Super Mario Bros. Sure, there's the option to go play a guitar in real life, but I've tried and I can't, so I'll go play Guitar Hero and enjoy the illusion of playing along to Dragonforce, because I'll never, ever, EEEEEEVER be able to do it in reality.
