PAUL STANLEY Hospitalized Prior To California Gig; KISS Performs As Three-Piece - July 28, 2007
Paul Stanley was unable to perform at KISS's show earlier tonight (Friday, July 27) in San Jacinto, CA. According to unconfirmed reports, he was sent to a local hospital after it was determined that his heart was beating at 200 beats per minute and he was given a shot in an attempt to slow it down. Stanley did perform at the soundcheck this afternoon around 6:00 p.m. PST. Gene Simmons carried the show and KISS played as a three-piece with fans joining them onstage early in the set to fill in for Paul. The final setlist was as follows:

01. Deuce
02. Cold Gin
03. Calling Dr. Love
04. (Long Pause) Christeen Sixteen
05. Nothin' to Lose (w/ Eric Singer on vocals)
06. I Love it Loud
07. Goin' Blind
08. Watchin' You
09. She
10. Parasite
11. God of Thunder
12. Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll
13. Black Diamond (w/ Eric Singer on vocals)
14. Rock and Roll All Night

They had three concerts in eastern Canada in the late 80's or early 90's and Paul broke a rib so I didn't get to see any of the concerts . I was going to go to all three but shit happens I guess.

I'd rather watch Kissology - Volume 2 than these old farts and Ace's guitar tech - this is not KISS, it is $$.

...Paul has a "weak assed voice" at all. And IF he did-- it would be due to about 2 to 3 hundred dates a year for 33 years. And about the other-- the show must always go on. Come to think of it-- it might be a bit humorous if ALL of the members of KISS took ill, and there was nothing but explosions, and stuff-- with feedback and an empty set of drums. With NO ONE onstage. :)

I was there last night...I have to say, it was disappointing not having Paul there. The show was great-though there was a somber tone.

Here's the one cool thing. Over the years, critics and people alike never really saw KISS as a viable band of musicians. No, they're not the greatest at their individual instruments, but they are a great band. Last night, you got to see that in action. They had to improvise and go out there and just jam for the fans. They pulled it off even though I'm sure their minds were elsewhere. They showed, again, that they are so much more than just theatrics, costumes, and flashing lights.
