SLAYER: New Video Interview With KERRY KING Available - Aug. 6, 2007
Thrash Magazine conducted an interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King this past Saturday, August 4 at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Watch the 10-minute clip below.

SLAYER's much-hyped re-release of the "Christ Illusion" album sold a little over 2,300 copies in the first seven days after it was reissued on July 24 through Columbia Records. This brings the total number of "Christ Illusion" copies sold in the U.S. to approximately 172,000.

SLAYER's "Christ Illusion" reissue contains the previously unreleased cut "The Final Six", as well as an alternate version of "Black Serenade". It also boasts a bonus DVD called "Slayer on Tour '07" which includes the "Eyes of the Insane" video; a live rendition of the band's 1988 LP track "South of Heaven" that was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, on last year's "Unholy Alliance" run; and a behind-the-scenes, five-minute documentary-style montage of footage shot earlier this year when the band performed in Florida and Australia.

Lucky?!? Have you even seen Slayer live?
They are one of the best live bands still in existance, especially for this genre of metal. Money's worth EVERY time. You sir, are a fucking moron.

"they're lucky they can still pull decent crowds..."

Nothing to do with luck. Has to do with perserverance, loyalty, and music. What bands do you like, dude? Pretty Boy Floyd?

"And I'm glad Christ Illusion is outselling United Abominations"

While I am happy it is selling, everybody on Blabbermouth should know that sales mean nothing. Hilary Duff outsells both...does that make her better?

Nothing wrong with Megadeth, their new album is blazing. You can like both, you don't have to choose one or the other.

...the next Megadeth album might be the one to watch. If Mustaine is building his home studio up in order to work on tracks at his leisure I think we might see new tracks sooner than expected. Having said that he'd possibly be contradicting his "no less than 2 years between records" rule. I don't care though, I want heavier Megadeth as soon as possible. I've accepted that I might not agree with a lot of what he has to say these days, we've both grown up :)

I would love to hear Dave put together a smokin' thrash album.
You have to get him high and pissed to do it though. Unfortunately, that's the OLD Dave. The new Dave thinks about stuff too much. Dave, all we can do is vote them out and hope for the best...let it rest. Out of our hands.

Look, the way you worded your one off response was *lucky* you chose that word. Hanging around almost 25 years in metal and still pulling in a crowd of 5K+ @ shows these days is DAMN good. They never sold out. They ain't LUCKY, that's hard work. PERIOD.

So Kerry collaborated with Sum 41, so what? Sum 41 are big fans of Slayer. That's a known fact. If anything, this disproves what a lot of people think which is Kerry is some kind of mean jerk hot shit type.
He's not. He's a straight up motherfucker. I know, I've had an opportunity, however short, to talk with him. He tells it like it is. End of story. Why would he sugar coat what he means to appease some prick who thinks the world owe's 'em something or isn't even a Slayer fan and who just like to piss and moan about stuff. The guys in Slayer are cool as fuck, and this INCLUDES Kerry.

a lot bands work hard for years, touring year after year, across different genres, with varying degrees of success... there are other bands that play as heavy and maybe work just as hard or harder and don't draw a 1/10 of their crowd size...

one big thing that they do have going for them is that they are considered one of the pioneers of thrash, so they are like a zeppelin or sabbath to this genre, and i think that's worth something to this band's legacy...

as for not selling out, i already mentioned kerry's work with sum41 on the original spider-man soundtrack (and the subsequent video)... i'm not knocking it, because to me it's ok to make money doing what you like to do (in kerry's case, playing music)... and i haven't exactly rushed out to update my copy of christ illusion, since the thing just came out only a year ago!

the 'selling out' arguments fall on deaf ears to me because there isn't one musician in any band out there that isn't looking to earn a living off there music... even the bands on the 'free' ozzfest this year are either getting corporate sponsorship, playing on off dates for money or hoping that the appearance boosts their fanbase, and eventually cd and live ticket sales...

The real issue here is not SLAYER!

It is in fact the journalism that sucks. My god I know us metal fans didn't take interviewing 101 per se, but I have seen so many bad video interviews posted on Blabbermouth lately that I want to puke.

Down with the poor interviews!

I did read a good interview with Sammy from Goatwhore the other day @ soconline.net It's at least worthwhile.
