Classic Live DEATH Videos Available For Download - Aug. 9, 2007
MetalKult.com has posted rare live videos from a 1988 performance by DEATH. The videos were shot on October 23, 1988, at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, during a show with RAVEN, DARK ANGEL, FAITH OR FEAR and FORBIDDEN (which was recorded/filmed and later released as part of the "Ultimate Revenge II" video on the Combat label).

Led by the late Chuck Schuldiner on vocals and lead guitar, DEATH burns through three cuts from their 1988 album, "Leprosy""Left to Die", "Pull the Plug" and "Forgotten Past" — as well as "Denial of Life", from their 1987 debut, "Scream Bloody Gore".

To view and download these videos, visit www.metalkult.com.

Back in December 2006, the Greek edition of Rock Hard magazine published a tribute to late DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, including statements and stories from many of the people that played with Chuck — such as Kam Lee, Chris Reifert, Terry Butler, Steve DiGiorgio, Richard Christy and Paul Masvidal — plus music industry notables who dealt with Schuldiner, and other musicians, among them Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY), Niklas Sundin (DARK TRANQUILLITY), Donald Tardy (OBITUARY), Alex Webster (CANNIBAL CORPSE), Trym (EMPEROR), Dan Lilker (NUCLEAR ASSAULT), Kelly Shaefer (ATHEIST), and Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC). The magazine has posted all the individual statements from the article (which came out in Greece on December 27, 2006) at this location.

To coincide with what would have been DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner's 40th birthday (Chuck was born on May 13, 1967), the official DEATH web site Empty Words posted the Schuldiner tribute article (entitled "Lust for Life") which was published in Guitar World magazine's April 2007 issue. Check it out at this location.

Schuldiner passed away on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor. He was 34 years old.

Chuck Schuldiner represents the best of what is a metal musician. I had the pleasure to meet him personally on the Human tour in Germany in 92' and he was very cool to me as were the rest of the guys especially Skott Carino too. This video shows Death at their absolute most brutal. Maybe their prime for some, like me who feel that Leprosy was the pinnacle of that hair-behind-the-neck- stands up feeling that brutal death can give you!

Borivoj Krgin said :

"If I have one regret, it's the fact that I never made peace with Chuck
before he passed away in December 2001. He called me a couple of times about
a year before he died (around December 2000) and he left messages for me to
call him back, but I never did. As I learned later, he wanted me to send him
my copies of the early MANTAS and DEATH demos/live/rehearsal recordings
because he wanted to possibly release them in order to raise funds to cover
his medical expenses. Apparently he no longer had his own copies of these
recordings and he thought that I probably had the best versions out of
anybody, which is why he contacted me about it. At the time, I didn't know
that Chuck's health was deteriorating and I didn't want to swallow my pride
and call him back -- which I now definitely feel was a mistake on my part.
Whatever issues and disagreements I might have had with Chuck in the years
before he died, it was not worth holding a grudge over. In the end, it cost
me my chance to rebuild my relationship with him and it's something I will
have to live with."

DUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! WTF!!!! ..... I'm spechless.

If I remember correctly he wrote a review of this exact show which was not too favorable. Then one of the guitarists from Dark Angel and him got into a cute little arguement in the letters section of Metal Forces magazine, correct me if i'm wrong Bori :)
