Heavy Metal Internet TV Launched By Germany's AMBOSS Webzine - Aug. 13, 2007
Germany's Amboss metal and gothic webzine has launched three music video channels with more than 400 metal and gothic video clips using the aggregator mashup Chime.tv. You can access the videos at the following locations: English Version, German Version.

There is a huge number of videos from gothic and heavy metal bands on portals like YouTube and MySpace. More than 400 of these clips have been collected by the Amboss team in three separate channels where you can watch the videos individually or use the random mode to play them continuously like a music channel on TV. There is a channel called "Dark Videoclips" with videos from bands who play gothic rock, gothic metal, dark wave, medieval or elektro. Black and death metal bands can be seen on the "Evil Videoclips" channel and in the "Metal Videoclips" channel you'll find heavy, thrash and power metal bands.

Amboss is using the so-called video aggregator Chime.tv which got an award this year for best mashup at "Mashup Camp 4" in Silicon Valley. Amboss and Chime.tv don't host any of the videos themselves; the clips are located on the servers of portals like YouTube or MySpace.

The biggest question is why so few understand what we need: A show with real human beings with dedication for the subject, talking about, with artists and presenting videos in a good format. The old Headbanger's ball was a school example, and Friday Rock Show with Tommy Vance also. Who wants to be alienated anymore than we already are, sitting and picking videos either manually or letting them be presented by random computing? It's such a lame format, and the worst thing is people don't even understand how cheated they're being. Nothing beats a TV show in the classic format with real presenters. But you see... it costs money, better rip us off.

COMMENT | how incredibly awesome!!! but with a catch...

when bandwidth hits the fiber optic age
it will be like having a zillion channels,
and no more need for rip off cable and
dish satellite companies.
they say terrestrial tv stations and networks
will survive with their programming
(eg fox with simpsons, other networks
with 24, the soaps, etc)
Networks and local channels will survive with
local news and broadcasts (your local sports
teams, etc) and your advertising will be
pushed based on your surfing
(porn, budweiser commercials)

get ready for an exciting new age

but the problem is that gen y and gen z are
going to be more apathetic toward politics
and more blind to how corporations and
banks are running and ruining the world.

They will be too entertained to care.

Everybody needs to think of the future, there
are some pretty sweet things coming, but there
also is going to be hell to pay for what bush has
done (borrowed more money than all presidents
before him combined).

Please stay informed, as well as entertained.
