VAN HALEN: First Reunion Tour Dates Announced

VAN HALEN has announced the details of their much-anticipated reunion tour with David Lee Roth today at a Los Angeles press conference. The arena tour kicks off September 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and continues through December 11 in Calgary, Alberta. Tickets go on sale this Saturday. The first confirmed dates are as follows:

The trek will feature founding VAN HALEN members David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, with Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass.
VAN HALEN last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.
Wolfgang Van Halen, the projected replacement for VH bassist Michael Anthony, told People magazine in April 2007 that he wasn't disappointed there wasn’t' going to be a VAN HALEN tour this summer following his father's decision to check himself into rehab. "My dad's taking care of himself," he said. "I also think I'm too young for the experience, because I know there are a lot of bad things out there."
Eddie Van Halen issued a statement addressed to fans in early March announcing that he was seeking treatment because "at the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best.
"That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you," the statement said.
Back in January, Eddie Van Halen told Rolling Stone magazine about Wolfgang, "Wait until you hear this kid play. I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We've got a shredding bass player now that's laying down the law for Alex [Van Halen, drums], so I get to weave in and out."
VAN HALEN was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.

I just had a look at the new VH website and I noticed something........apart from no VH albums after DLR , with I guess ,is understandable....No what bugs me is the Fact of the covers for Van Halen 1 and women and children first, Women, has replaced the band photo with just type but VH1 has replaced Micheal Anthonys group photo on that now classic cover with Wolfgangs.
Now Im not going to be overly sensitive on the subject .Mikey and Sammy kept the VH flag alive when VH themselves couldnt and was gracious to acknoledge Eds illness and Gary Cherone at the RNR hall of fame.
But the manner in which the Van Halens choose to just wipe from the history, Mikeys contribution and his photos fromn the albums is just disgraceful and disrespectful.
It really goes to show that Ed reallt hasnt changed at all, is still bitter enough to act in such a fashion and as for the photos from the conference, Ed, Al and Dave are grinning cheesily as if to say " this hurts, just give me the paycheck"
I really am disappointed by this little nasty turn of events....It remains to be seen whether Ed and Al can be nice for the interviews or whetherAl will keep Ed away from journalists so he doest make an ass of himself. The amount of crap Alex must put up with of Edward.........any thoughts? and be nice rather than the usual dave rocks and sammy blows nonsense.
I really would love to see them for myselves regardless of the inner politics and mutual hatred they have for each other and in Eds case, himself. Wolfgang seems like a great and talented kid. Valerie brought him up well and I hope he isnt too effected by all this.

Just noticed Mike being erased from VH1 and WACF. This is just too ridiculous. It's not so schocking actually, it's pretty funny, it just shows are these guys can be so lame. It's one thing to replace Mike, it's another thing to pretend he never WAS in the band in the first place. Of course, fans know better.

Removing Mike's picture and replacing it with Wolfgang's is INEXCUSABLE! I think he could theoretically sue for that.
Are they going to do what $haron and Ozzy did with 'Blizzard' and 'Diary' by re-releasing the album with all bass parts RE-RECORDED by Wolfgang?
What a couple of jerks Ed and Al have become. Give me Sammy and Mike over this any day.
BTW, notice on the website it says Van Halen AND David Lee Roth announce tour - as if Dave is not a part of the band, just special guest or hired help or something. Isn't THAT very telling? I think the 04 tour was just listed as VAN HALEN.

In addition to swapping out Mikey's photo for Wolfgang's on the cover of VH1 (ridiculously petty), the text of the cover story only discusses the DLR albums. While understandable under the circumstances, I find it ironic that they also go on to state that according to Guiness Book of World Records, they have the most #1 hits on Billboard's mainstream rock charts than any band in history. Um, I may be wrong here but I thought most of those #1 hits were with Sammy.
You gotta love how classy the VH brothers are deleting Mike and Sammy as though they never existed. With friends like the VH brothers, who needs enemies?

Last tour w/ Sammy started in G'boro and opening night was excellent.
Now I'm lucky enough to get the two lead dates of the semi-reunited band!! Like last time, I get to see them before the fistfights start.
If they continue as a going concern like they SAY they intend to, then maybe there's some hope at some point to get MA back. Until then...voice problems and all...this is as good as it gets.

That album they did with him was terrible. Even Eddie's guitar playing on that album wasnt that good which is surprising. I hope Eddie doesnt fuck this one up like he did in '04. Man that was disgraceful. I will look at some footage on Youtube of this tour before I buy a ticket.

I remember hearing VH's cover of "You Really Got Me" on the radio while on my way to a KI$$ show in Jan. '78. All I could talk about the next several days in school whenever anyone asked me about the KI$$ show was VH. I had the 1st album the week it came out...saw 'em twice in the DLR days...now they're trying to erase Michael Anthony from the band's history like the fucking Politburo or some shit - FUCK YOU EDDIE, YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT.

Seriously folks...where's Michael Anthony? A lot of people fail to remember that he performed all the vocal harmonies behind Dave (and later Sammy), so they'll be missing that. Also, what gets me is the pure selfishness of this move. I mean, what a control-freak Eddie VH must truly be..."It's MY band and MY kid is playing bass!" Ridiculous. I'm sure he's a good bassist and all, but that doesn't make it right. Also, no new record, I guess, so it's going to be a "golden oldies" show...just a big money making thing because their bank accounts are probably starting to get low...

I was a fan of the original VH. I love that line up. Saw them in 81. Cut the kid some slack. You havent even heared him play or sing. Having said that, I really hope they put out some new music right after this tour. Sad mike's not there but, this will still be better than the other crap out there today.
