NINE INCH NAILS Album Headed For Television? - Aug. 14, 2007
The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: The latest NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero", might be turned into a television series. Frontman and creative mastermind Trent Reznor told a U.K. newspaper that plans are underway to bring the concept disc to the airwaves, saying, "We've got a producer on board and have met with writers. We're about to pitch it to the network, so we're a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we'll see what happens."

"Year Zero" is set in a totalitarian future America ruled by a right-wing religious dictatorship. The populace is plagued by mysterious visions, the country's drinking water might be drugged and global catastrophe is near.

Reznor said earlier in the year that he was interested in bringing the story to the screen, possibly as a movie.

The album was released this past spring after an innovative viral marketing campaign that left clues for fans online and in venues where the band had played.

NINE INCH NAILS has yet to mount a full North American tour in support of "Year Zero", although the group's web site recently added a September 18 show in Honolulu, Hawaii to its summer itinerary, which is filled through August and the first half of September with shows in Europe, the U.K., China, Israel and Southeast Asia. NIN plays on Wednesday (August 15) in Switzerland.

...it's similar to the LAZER TAG television show.

Downward Spiral should be made into a broadway play.

of other albums by other bands that deserve a film or tv show but haven't gotten one.

A NIN album-turned-show would be another example of shit being doused in cologne for the public attention.

I honestly hope these haters at least listened to this cd before they shit all over it. I'll admit, NIN isn't for everybody. But I am a wanna be musician and I know the work that goes into projects like "Year Zero". It's a really good cd, if you like NIN and Trent that is. If you're a hater. chances are your not bright enough to understand the concept.

The concept is just like V for Vendetta or an other Orwellian story. It's not bad, but it's more based on fact than fiction.

BUT! Year Zero was clearly a quickly recorded and released album to bring Trent one album closer to leaving Interscope completely. Hence why there'll be a second chapter to Year Zero. Notice they haven't done any touring on it? I saw them 8 times in two years touring for 'With Teeth' and I only traveled out of MA once.

The story line is decent at best, but is a definite rip-off of a number of very well written sci-fi / fantasy novels from the past. Go read any number of those and leave the garbage off mah TV.

year zero took longer to make than with teeth. it is documented all over the damn place and has been talked about to death by trent himself in various interviews.

trent toured the shit out of the states for with teeth. but this time around he has decided to do a shitload of shows in other places around the world. he even did shows in russia. he is playing many places that he has never played or hasn't played in years. trent said he toured the shit out of the states and wanted to hit other places before playing here. he may even wait until part two of year zero is released.

year zero is a really cool concept. let's wait and see what part 2 gives us. and before you decide to talk about shit you obviously know nothing about, visit some websites with real factual nin information.

"Year Zero" is an amazing album. I respect Reznor's ideals and love the lyrics and music. It's very dark and haunting, and extremely cold. Like America's gonna be in a few years, if things don't change radically. I'd love to see it turned into a tv series.

...I only liked the Downward Spiral, and I think anything they've done after that has been extremely boring and overrated (including YEAR ZERO), I would be curious to see how this turns out cause the premise is very strong and if done right, we could have another LOST or HEROES type hit show.

it can be cool if it's done right. i definately see it on the SciFi Network at least (maybe in their friday night lineup if they need a new show there).

Yeah, The Sci-Fi channel would be good as well, as long as they don't use the same special defects team that did snakes on a train.
I really hope they get this show bought because it'd be very interesting to see more Year Zero than the ARG and the album have shown us.

more egocentric makebelieve!! maybe the singer can help cast (wink, wink) all of the people that aren't men to act in the production
the system is okay as long as the right people work for it!!

Any true NIN fan has known for a long time that Trent is bound to get into some other genre of art/entertainment. Producing, writing, directing, videos or shows or movies seems right up his alley.

Cito: The story line is decent at best, but is a definite rip-off of a number of very well written sci-fi / fantasy novels from the past. Go read any number of those and leave the garbage off mah TV.

"Yeah, leave the garbage off mah TV"... what a great line...
