Update: Booze Banned After 2 Killed, 83 Arrested At OZZFEST Concert - Aug. 17, 2007
WNBC reports: Two people are dead, 83 were arrested and drinking in the parking lot has been banned following an unruly Ozzfest concert at the PNC Bank Arts in Holmdel, New Jersey center on Thursday night (August 16), police said.

WNBC.com's Brian Thompson has learned that Raymond Guarino, 26, died Thursday night at Bayshore Hospital. Guarino, of Forked River, N.J., had to be resuscitated in the PNC Bark Arts center parking lot shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Thursday before being transported to the hospital.

New Jersey state troopers received information that Guarino had injested cocaine, marijuana and alcohol prior to the incident. Troopers searched the vehicle he arrived in and discovered small amounts of both drugs in the vehicle.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death, and whether the presence of drugs is detected.

According to police, Patrick Norris, 24, of Coram, N.Y., passed out at the concert around 10 p.m. and was transported to Bayshore in cardiac arrest. He was declared dead in the hospital. Police said he had also injested cocaine, marijuana and alcohol before and during the show.

Drinking alcohol in the parking lot of the PNC Arts Center will be banned starting with Friday night's VELVET REVOLVER concert.

Maybe the "Free OzzFest" wasn't such a hot idea ... since they didn't have to buy a ticket, these jugheads obviously had plenty of extra $ to blow on "cocaine, alcohol and marijuana"

Funny, in most places drinking in public is against the law anyway...

I don't blame the Freefest, blame the idiots who can't handle their shit. The drugs would have been there regardless if tickets were paid for or it if was free. We are just hearing more about this one because it was free. If it was Ozzfest's fault, everyone would be dead. If you are gonna be dumb, do it at home and stop ruining things for the rest of us.

I'd agree with you, except this year's Ozzfest has had record numbers of injuries/deaths/arrests/etc associated with it, and I can't help but assume there is a correlation between increased trouble and this year's festival being free.

Not knowing the stats of the previous Ozzfests I cannot say if there are more now, or if we are just hearing about it more because of recent stories about other ozzfests, maybe there is more attention drawn to coming shows.

Even if the show is "free" we all know that you pay for parking, food, beer, merchandise and the prices are always super high.

I still place the blame on the person involved, not the event. Somehow tens of thousands managed to get home or stay alive through the concerts. The ones we are hearing about are a small percent. it is just those a-holes that give all rock a bad name.

response to blame the event and not the individuals. You do coke, weed and drink, you might die. Doesn't matter if it's at Ozzfest or a church parking lot.

Take personal responsibility people and stop blaming everyone else.

Man, what a bunch of lightweights. How odd that Ozzfest is free and there's a rash of issues...arrests, people dying before, at, or after the show, etc. I doubt Sharon will do this again.

Wow, Blabbermouth must really care about how articulate our posts are...they now have spell check!

Who knows, since the alcohol problem is soooooo bad, maybe they'll just ban money. Because if nobody has any money, they can't buy alcohol.

The moral of the story is:do all the blow you want, then blame the alcohol!!!!! Kinda like if you kill someone, blame the music/TV/movies/video games.

fuck this place. all outdoor shows especially in the north east are poorly planned. there's never any shade, water in the bathrooms sometimes gets turned off so you dont drink it and have to pay $3 for water, $10 for a lg beer (actual price at PNC), fuck eating there, for the prices on that shit food. like people arnt smokin, snortin, and drinking in the parking lot of every major sporting event too? it's an excuse... (we wanna make more money selling drinks inside)... blame it on the BAD ozzfest kids... then when jimmy buffit plays those folks cant drink either (so smoke, or snort) it's the kids fault sorry ( that'll be $70 for those three beers and two orders of chicken strips) BOYCOTT THIS SHIT HOLE!!!!

"This place rapes anyone that goes to a show there and laughs all the way to the bank".... cuz they are a bank.

the 'free' ozzfest will likely now be a memory... do you think sharon and company want to open themselves to this kind of liability in the future (i'm sure someone somehow is going to try to sue this tour this year)? and how much are sponsors going to want to associate with a tour that has trouble with multiple arrests on several dates?

let's be fair... this isn't only happening in nj... i'm actually glad they didn't bring this trainwreck to ny this year...

Their logic here is to scare parents whose kids will attend such a concert. The real logic should be to educate your kids so that they don't have to drink or snort themselves to death to make sure they'll have fun at a concert.

It's ignorance's fault.
More education=less violence.
And few nations have got such a great number of uneducated slobs. Just look how many people are absolutely unable to spell on this thread. It's nauseating, poor them.

PS: Throwing insults around is pointless. If you think you can win people over by insulting them it only proves how silly and immature you are. If you think you can intimidate them, think again. Spreading propaganda online is useless anyway, everyone has their point of view, I respect other people's and state mine. The ones who can't do the same clearly have an aggression problem and use the internet to vent their frustrations because in real life nobody listens to them. Funny.
