VAN HALEN: High-Quality Rehearsal Photos Posted Online

More photos have been posted online from the current VAN HALEN tour rehearsals, which are taking place in Los Angeles. Check out high-quality pictures from Jeff Findley: Page 1Page 2Page 3Page 4Page 5Page 6Page 7Page 8A report and photos have been widely distributed online from someone who got to see a VAN HALEN rehearsal at a Los Angeles location last Saturday night (September 8), rumored to be the Los Angeles Forum. The person, who wrote that he was taken to the rehearsal by a friend, described the stage has having an S-shaped runway that "snakes out into the audience," with a stage-long video screen mounted behind the performers. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen was the first to arrive, followed by his son and bassist Wolfgang and drummer Alex Van Halen. Wolfgang was accompanied by his mother and Eddie's ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, as well as five friends. Singer David Lee Roth arrived some time later. Roth addressed the small crowd of approximately 40 to 50 people that watched the band run through its set, thanking them for coming and explaining where certain things would happen onstage during an actual performance. The writer said that Wolfgang Van Halen did a "fine job," but added, "I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that (former bassist) Michael Anthony was missed. While Wolf competently filled the position, he doesn't have the same sound, either in his playing or in his voice, as Michael." Roth said at the band's recent press conference announcing the tour, his first with VAN HALEN in 22 years, that it was Wolfgang who selected the songs that the band will play: "It was Wolf who picked the song list, and we've got close to 25 of your greatest hits, all the favorites that you've been hearing tearing out of the back of a pickup truck at the Burger King drive-thru for how many summertimes. It's all very well intact, stereo sound and hi-fi style." The spy posted the complete list of songs that the band rehearsed, although not in order. Don't read further if you want to be surprised. As expected, the list included nothing past the band's first six albums, ignoring the Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone eras of the group. VAN HALEN rehearsal songs (not in order): "You Really Got Me"

Regardless of the stupidity of the decision to let him play instead of Michael, you have to respect the guy. If I was 16 and playing with Van Halen in front of millions, I'd be super fucking nervous.

I'm so sick of all the cheap shots at Wolfgang. Sure he's no Michael Anthony, and yeah he looks out of place considering he's 30+ years younger than anyone else in Van Halen, but do you honestly think the whole thing is Wolfie's fault? I would bet he was probably under pressure from his Dad and uncle to take up the bass of the band. Regardless of how much decision making Wolfgang himself had in the process, it's not like he was the one who decided to get rid of Michael Anthony, so stop acting like a bunch of fucking whiney little girls already!

I have to agree with the ones who say that Wolfgang looks out of place. The only fat guy who should be playing bass for Van Halen is Michael Anthony but I'm just beating a dead horse like eveyone else by going on and on about it.

A lot of "fans" are putting Eddie down and saying he aint what he used to be and that Satriani is better, etc. Stop that shit. It's corny and shows a lot of jealousy which is weak. Malmsteen and many other "shredmasters" look up to Eddie. He's survived cancer, divorce and alcoholism and he's still playing (while in great shape too boot). You guys putting him down should hear the records that inspired generations of guitar players. Maybe it'll get you off your ass to do something better than criticize the master ;)

pictures look good. i saw dave about 5 years ago. he looked and sounded great. better singing than when i saw them in82- 84. but i still think eddie has mental issues. he should have did this the right way because it may not last past this tour. michael should be in the band , period.. i'm sure eddie cant stand dave either but there is no other way for him to tour w/ his kid than w/ either dave or sammy.. wish i could see the original 4 one last time but this is just a cash grab.. i will always remember 82-84 vh concerts as some of the best i've seen

Good pics...if I were Wolfgang I would be pretty nervous...I have a lot of respect for him. But to cheap chot him on is looks or age is just stupid. Who would have thought there would be 3 Van Halen's now in the band? Dave is completely surrounded now!

That setlist kicks ass. Too bad I'm not going to the KC show Oct. 26. If MA were a part of it I'd forget about going to Nightwish in November. I could'nt do both.
BTW Diamond Dave looks like He had no problem fitting back in. That outfit must be from the 82 tour.

If you sell out a place that holds 3,500 people, and Van Halen sells 17,000 out of 18,000 tickets then I guess your right. They have sold out more shows. My band fills clubs that hold 100 people regularly, so I have more sell outs than both of them combined. I guess my band should be considered more popular than both Van Halen and The Other Half Wits...because you know, we have more sellouts...and we give the people what they want.

But after the crap Eddie delt Mike I want to get rid of them and no one wants them in my area. The show hasn't sold out and probably won't until Dec. and that is if they make it til then.
I did go to see Sammy and Mike and it was sold out at a pretty big venue too, about 12,000 seats. They sounded great.
Haven't heard DLR/VH yet and there is no proof they sound good
from all this promo crap that is trying to sell more tickets to this tour.

All Mike did was get his ass off the chair and continue to rock, and it happen to be with a very successful frontman Sammy Hagar. Eddie wasn't even going to use Mike in the 2004 tour.
All Eddie wanted to do was drink and drift off into a meth like world.
And in shape the guy is definitely showing that he is still an alcoholic and a drug user his body and face look like hell and he talks like he is gone, that is why this time around he dosen't care that Dave does the talking.
