ZAKK WYLDE Gets 'Owned' By DAVID LEE ROTH At VAN HALEN Rehearsal; Video Available

A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor has submitted the following report:
"The last of the four secret rehearsals by VAN HALEN took place last night [Sunday, September 16] in Los Angeles. Unlike the other shows where 40-50 people were there, this was a much bigger affair with about 500 friends of the crew and band. Some of the people in attendance were Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE) METALLICA's Kirk Hammett and Zakk Wylde. About two songs into the show, Zakk — who was front row — tried to get onstage with Eddie [Van Halen]. The security were wrestling to pull him off and David Lee Roth came over and said, 'Nah, nah, nah. Are you in show biz? Then get off the stage. Get off the fucking stage.' At that point Eddie came over and acknowledged Zakk, saying something to the effect of, 'Hey, man, I can't do this right now.' Throughout the show though Eddie was smiling at Zakk. At one point Zakk swapped shoes with one of his guests (a girl who was wearing high heels) and spent a good portion of the show wearing these!!
"As other reports have suggested, this show is amazing in every way. Do not miss it if you get a chance. Wolfgang does an amazing job and David Lee Roth's introduction to him was 'this band is three quarters original, one quarter inevitable."

Everyone bagging Zack Wylde needs to get a clue.
If you dont like his music thats fine your choice, you have the right to post that. But in terms of a person he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. At a instore in perth Australia he stayed an extra 4 hours after a 2hour session to make sure he personally met every fan that showed up and sign whatever they wanted. He even hugged and posed for photos with any one who was keen.
So if you dont like his music and style good for you listen to something else other wise grow a brain and achieve something in your life you poor arse fools!

Dave would never be good natured about someone trying to steal his limelight so of course Roth was serious when he told Zak to get off the stage. It's full of "what a good time it will be on tour", "please come and see us" and "you cannot miss this".

But only in fun. Of course it was all in good fun. The show was for 500 select guests who were FRIENDS OF THE BAND AND CREW. Diamond Dave didn't have to know who Zakk was to figure out that he certainly was in "showbiz." It was all in fun, but had it not been... Music aside, I know Zakk is supposed to be some big bad ass, with a bad ass biker image, but Roth is well practiced in the martial arts. Kung Fu if I remember correctly, and he would have whooped Zakks ass.
But the people in attendance were invited as special guests of the band and crew, so you know damn well they know who Zakk is.
Should be a great tour, if they can get along long enough to finish it!

Zakk and Van Halen are friends. DLR knew who he was (in fact, James Lomenzo, former P&G and BLS bass player and currently of Megadeth played with DLR's solo band). They were joking, Zakk laughed. It was comedy, DLR was doing that, it wasnt really a show, he was just treating it as if it were, and that's what he'd say to someone trying to get onstage, or a heckler even.

Dave sounded okay, better than when I saw them in '85 (and Roth on his solo tour)... Eddie and Alex sounded awesome as usual... Wolfgang did fine, but then the bass lines to Van Halen songs aren't the most technically demanding; my son can play them, and he's only been playing guitar for six months.

I think they sounded awesome! I hope they schedule a Denver show, otherwise I'm going to have to take a plane ride to catch at least one show.
Eddie still is amazing on guitar. There aren't too many in his league, including Zakk. His live tone has always been amazing no matter the lineup.

This is humourous. This talk of who can kick whos ass. Martial Arts is damn impressive. But there is something said about a street fight. In a street fight, there are NO rules. I can tell you from personal experience that fighting a black belt is only intimidating if you are in a ring where rules exist. Get that artist in an alley and now he's the one intimidated. I am not in any way saying Zakk would beat David but for someone to say David is an incredible athlete and is in shape cause he eats tuna fish and drinks springwater for the last 3-4 weeks is just hysterical!

Also, DLR's vocals live have never sounded great, and I've seen them many times from '78-'84. Not that big a deal during their shows.
Finally, while most would prefer to see the original lineup, Michael Anthony, in this instance, is the most replaceable. Give young Wolfgang a chance. Kid is only 15-16 and seems to be handling this awsome responsibility with maturity and class.

Zak is a bad ass guitarist. David Lee Roth has been out of the seen so long. He probably didnt know who he was!!!!

You who follows somewhat what Zakk is doing knows that one of his idols is Eddie van Halen. I guess that maybe Zakk was somehow drunk, still I think it's great to see that Zakk is just like someone else, when it comes to idols, he wants to meet his as well. I thought David Lee Roth was quite rude and Eddie acted kind of scared for being dragged down by Zakk to the audience. Look at Eddie, he looks as if hes trying to feed or touch an alligator - he acts stupid as well!
I loved the video Jump when Roth was at his best but to say like this to anyone reaching for their idol, and trying to make a fool out of him because he sure did know who he was, they even put a spotlight on Zakk, Roth acted like shit.
