MEGADETH's MUSTAINE Talks About Albums That Influenced Him; Video Available
- Sep. 18, 2007
|
|
Christine Carney of MP3.com conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine while the band was in San Francisco last week. Dave talks about five albums that influenced him, heroes he's yet to meet, and his "bullshit-o-meter." The audio podcast for the interview is also available in iTunes. Watch the interview at this location. Five albums that influenced Mustaine: * DIAMOND HEAD – "Lightning to the Nations" (1980) Mustaine: "I think that if DIAMOND HEAD really got the credit for being the stone that METALLICA was shaped out of they probably would have been much more popular." * LED ZEPPELIN - "The Remasters" (1992) Mustaine: "When I first heard LED ZEPPELIN I knew that I had found the band that matched my biorhythm." * THE BEATLES - "The White Album" (1968) Mustaine: "The White album itself I think is probably the greatest way to introduce people to what THE BEATLES is." * AC/DC - "Let There Be Rock" (1977) Mustaine: "I heard that energy coming out of the guitar, immediately I got a poster of Angus and put it over my bed. This was who I was going to be." * UFO - "Obsession" (1978) Mustaine: "The reason I play a flying V: Michael Schenker." MEGADETH's September 22, 2007 concert at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio will be streamed live via YeboTV.com. You will need to register at this location to catch this live event.

Mustaine could not care less about The Beatles. He threw in their name b/c it's fashionable to do so.

Good interview, its really nice when you get someone famous who is down to earth like Dave. He joins the ranks with Devin Townsend for being intelligent, passionate & talented without being a jerk.
Hope he continues to make albums.

Don't be stupid. It's been common knowledge for many years that those bands are Mustaine's favourites (Diamond Head, AC/DC, & Led Zeppelin especially).

I'm sure there are other guys in this thread who've grown up to hold a band or two together?
If so, what where YOUR albums that keep you playing and had you writing all those years ago?
Gotta admit that Rust in peace was one of mine

I'm sure Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Angus Young, etc. all need Dave Mustaine to plug them!! WTF kind of assinine comment is that? Those are some of the most popular bands EVER!! I don't think they need to pay Dave Mustaine to promote their bands.

Back in 1982/1983 until 1991 because I was really a huge Motorhead, Diamond Head, Mercyful Fate, Tank, Anvil, Jaguar, Tygers of Pan Tang, Holocaust and Discharge fan.
Especially Motorhead, I always still get Motorhead albums, even if most people claim they lost there savage factor back in 1982, but I still stayed a fan, having former, King Diamond drummer Mikkey Dee, I though was pretty cool.
I still play the "Power Metal" and " No life til leather " demos non-stop, even if Kirk Hammett, is more to everyones liking.
Megadeth's "Rust In Peace" is a favortie album of mine. Perfect Mustaine on the riffs and Friedman was just so godly, Favorite album of 1991, in the Power Metal/ thrash metal fields now doubt about that.
Mustaine was also right about UFO, them and the Scorpions were a big deal for me, until I got my hands on some heavier metal artist on Independant Metal labels. I was lucky as hell in 1982/ 1983; My local record store only 3 blocks away only had Heavy Metal, the Only album that was hard rock there was the first Ratt EP because they were on Time Coast in America and Music for Nations in Europe.
