Former GUNS N' ROSES Drummer STEVEN ADLER Falls Ill During Live Performance
- Sep. 21, 2007
According to the Mexican newspaper El Universal, former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler fell ill during a live performance in Mexico City Wednesday night (September 19) and was treated by paramedics at the scene, a Red Cross spokeswoman told The Associated Press. The spokeswoman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Adler was not hospitalized after the Red Cross treated him. She didn't know why the drummer had gotten sick.
Adler was in Mexico with the band ADLER'S APPETITE on a tour commemorating the 20th anniversary of the GUNS N' ROSES album "Appetite for Destruction". Initial news reports saying Adler suffered from hypertension could not be confirmed. The general manager at Hard Rock Live, the venue where the concert took place, did not return phone calls from The Associated Press.
The other members of GUNS N' ROSES band threw Adler out in 1989, saying his drug use was harming his performance. In 1993, the band agreed to pay him $2.3 million to settle Adler's lawsuit claiming a 1990 agreement by which he gave up his interest in the band was read to him and signed without his attorney present.

This guy really needs some people around him to help him out.
I'm sure the reason he brings up GnR reunion in every interview is because he is getting low on dough. In all reality I think if GnR ever did reunite they'd do it with Matt Sorum before Adler. I also think the only reason they call Adler or stop in and see him is because they're more worried then anything about him.

How do you know if he's high or if the effects of the stroke are still hurting him? The only thing we know is that he's changed band memebers a lot and former members have said that he's getting high.
I've seen Steven on TV talking about the damage of drugs on his life and how he hopes no one else would take drugs. I find it hard to believe that he would do anything beyond pot.
What does fall ill mean? Did he have a stomach problem? Was he exhausted? Drugs aren't something you DONT go to the hospital for. If he was in bad shape they would have to take him, no matter what.

destructivesounds...i didn't realize that he had a stroke...but now that i do i see exactly what your saying. i would assume that a stroke would cause many similar effects that years of compounded drug use would. not to mention how devastating a combination of both could be.
