Legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL, DEATH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT) will team up with Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller and Brendon Small on the road as the real live version of DETHKLOK — the stars of the animated Cartoon Network "Adult Swim" program "Metalocalypse". The group will open for ...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF OUR DEAD on their U.S. tour in the fall. This Adult Swim-backed trek will include free shows at 12 U.S. colleges (open to the public) beginning on October 29, although the tour schedule for has not been announced.
Mike Keneally (guitar) has played with Frank Zappa and Steve Vai, among others, and is also the National Music Director for the Paul Green School of Rock. Bryan Beller (bass) is part of the Mike Keneally band and currently tours with Steve Vai.
On September 25, Adult Swim will unleash the brand-new CD from DETHKLOK on an unsuspecting public. "Dethalbum" features several full-length songs from Adult Swim's most metal animated series "Metalocalypse" plus all-new tracks.
To coincide with the premiere of the second season of "Metalocalypse" on Adult Swim and release of "Metalocalypse Season 1" on DVD, a regular and a deluxe CD edition of "Dethalbum" will be released. The deluxe edition will include a second disc featuring seven even more brutal tracks, the animated video for the utterly brutal single "Bloodrocuted", and the premiere episode from Season 2 of "Metalocalypse".
"Dethalbum" track listing:

Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, "Metalocalypse" follows the on- and off-stage adventures of DETHKLOK, an incredibly talented and insanely popular Norwegian heavy metal band. DETHKLOK boasts the lineup of vocalist Nathan Explosion (lyrical visionary), Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth (two of the fastest guitarists alive), bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles — the soul of the band. Not really.
"Dethalbum" features a guest appearance by Gene Hoglan. He previously stated about the CD, "What a killer metal record! I can't wait for everyone else to hear it, and since it has now been slated for a September 25th release, that is now gonna be sooner than later, especially with leakage. And yes, it appears that we are going on tour with it as well! The logistics are being worked on as we speak, but it looks like it's gonna be a real killer, multi-media show. I'm looking real forward to that, I've even suspended the booking of a ton of clinics to clear my schedule to be available."

Should be fun, but as an opening band.. seems they may have trashed the idea of the multimedia show to have the cartoon characters generated onto a screen infront of the stage and whatnot.
I don't know, maybe they'll still do it, but only if they're in direct support to Trail Of Our Dead.. otherwise, they wouldn't have the time.
Either way.. fuck opening, and get on a headlining tour Brendon. You have the connections!

I tend to agree with you on this, I really think they should do a live Gorillaz style multimedia tour.

Small does the vocals. Fuckin Mike Keneally is awesome. Anyone who played with Zappa get props from me. And the Zappa's Univese project was fuckin great. I don't care who they tour with, I'm fuckin' there, if only to hear Keneally live.

weird , trail of the dead isnt even a metal band . If dethklok is gonna play live , they could at least make themselves look like dethklok.
Haha! This is getting ridiculous! They better do a solo with their cock, as they do in the show, or it's just not Dethklok.

"Were all the metal musicians busy or something? Some dude on guitar, with some dude from that dude's band on bass. Good thing Gene's going on tour with them."
Clearly you're an idiot. Keneally is one of the greatest musicians around these days.

Even though i think this whole Metalocalypse business is one of the dumbest cartoons ever conceived..... i will say this.. Mike Keneally is far from being "some dude." You don't occupy the guitar slot in Frank Zappa's band without having a supreme amount of ability. Mike Keneally could more than likely run circles around 99 percent of guitar players in the heavy metal genre.

This cartoon band makes better music than lots of real bands.
All you nay sayers can kiss my ass. Metalocalypse is funny, Dethklok is kick ass metal, and Brendon Small is genius. The lineup for this tour will be perfect because Brendon already wrote all the guitar and bass parts for the songs. He only needs an accomplished guitarist and bassist to play with him on stage. Mike Keneally and Bryan Bellar have more than enough ability to live up to Dethklok standards. I do not even need to comment on Gene Hoglan's drumming. I have the Deathklok album and the drumming is insane. For saxon 186: Brendan Small did make a real band, it is called Dethklok. It is not his fault that he cannot play two guitars and a bass at the same time on stage. Trent Reznor writes all of the music for Nine Inch Nails but has musicians play what he wrote on tours. Everyone will agree that Nine Inch nails is a real band.
