SEX PISTOLS Add More Dates, JOHNNY ROTTEN Slags STING

The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: The SEX PISTOLS have just announced additional dates for their current reunion mini-tour. After their single date at England's Brixton Academy sold out in just 10 minutes, they booked the next two days at the same venue.
When asked by Britain's Virgin Radio about other bands who've recently reformed for a tour, frontman Johnny "Rotten" Lydon wasted no time giving his honest opinion, calling Sting — who is currently touring with the reunited POLICE — "a soggy old dead carcass." The prototypical punk continued, "Listening to 'Stink' try to squeak through 'Roxanne' one more time, it's not fun. It's like letting air out of a balloon."
The SEX PISTOLS originally planned only the one-off show to mark the 30th anniversary of their single studio album, "Never Mind the Bullocks". Their "God Save The Queen" single will be reissued on seven-inch vinyl to celebrate the anniversary.

I'm not a fan of the Police but they are playing infront of 60,000 people a night. The Sex Pistols haven't played in front of that many people during their whole career. I wouldn't pay $1.70 to see the reformed Sex Pistols.

for one thing: He just pisses everybody off and doesn't give a fuck what people think about him. Still the only member of the Pistols who has musical potential is Steve Jones.

Listen to Sting than that peice of shit. Sex Pistols are merely just another one of those bands that have a fanbase because the Hot Topic crowd views them as nostalgic. Johnny Rotten is annoying as hell, simply put.

well, sting and the police might suck or not, but the Sex Pistols are doing the same thing.. Old soggy guys playing the same pissed off songs they sang in their youth.. plus, at least the Police can play their instruments.

Well put. Seeing the Sex Pistols now is like seeing the Misfits. Not only are they decrepit old dudes, they just flat out don't have that same magic that earned them fans in the first place. Misfits, because of Jerry Only trying to sing like Danzig. Sex Pistols... not too sure what they're missing, or ever had in the first place.

The pistols can play their instruments pretty well (ok Sid couldn't, but he's dead). John Lydon is simply making publicity, he's actually a really decent bloke. At least they called their 1st comeback tour "The Filthy Lucre Tour". I'm going to see The Police and I'm still paying more than the Pistols "double price tickets". I'm a KISS fan for my sins, but at least The Pistols get back together for proper anniversary gigs (25th, 30th etc). Don't slag off the Pistols unless you've seen them. I saw them at Finsbury Park in 1996 and they were awesome. The Brixton Academy gigs will be a blast for all who attend. Go for it!!!

I would chose Pistols over Police anyday. My friends went to see Police (13.000 people, not 60'...). It was as lame as a funeral. Andy Summers was a disaster. Sting, go and hug a tree!

I love the Police and I liked what the Sex Pistols did musically.
I really like John Lydon as Johnny Rotten - if you don't take the things he says personally, he's a very funny person with a very unique view of things. His grasp and usage of the language has made me laugh for MANY years.
My opinion is if it wasn't for John, the Sex Pistols would never have been considered punk. He, alone for me IS that vein of the movement.

Most overrated punk band of all time. Musically sucked royal *&%$. So they had some attitude, big deal.
Ok, Sid vicious was kinda cool, but he is dead, so screw it.
The police on the other hand rule, as a band. Stings solo stuff I am not a fan off. But Stewart Copeland has more musical talent in his left nut, then the Pistols combined.

Who made the rules here? Noone. You are free to do whatever you like as long as you don't hurt other people, and sloppy playing never hurt anyone. You don't like it, don't buy their records don't go to the shows. It's as simple as that. Anyone can learn how to play an instrument, but not a lot of people can write catchy, successful tunes. Suck on that, snobby bitter failed wannabe musicians.

Yeah, PIL dude!! "This is what you want, this is what you get!" Great band. I remember when Miami Vice used that song in one episode, so cashing in isn't something that Johnny just up and decided it was OK to do. He's been doing it for decades, and more power to him for it!
Oh, and when Beavis and Butthead were commenting on PIL's 'Rise' video,
Johnny Rotten: "I could be wrong I could be right"
Butthead: "You're wrong!"
Johnny Rotten: "I could be black I could be white"
Beavis: "You're white!"
BTW, for what it's worth, Virus 23 did a great cover of The Order Of Death on the 'Shut Up Kitty' compilation.

Haha brilliant!
Fave albums? I've got so many.....This is What You Want This is What you Get is one of them actually, even though Levene slagged the hell out of it.
"First Issue", "Second Edition (Metal Box)", "Flowers of Romance", the "Paris Aux Printemps" live album and "That What is Not" are my favourite ones. They differ greatly from person to person though as they've made extremely diverse music, which is great!

He did the same thing in the 70's---putting down all those progressive rock bands and iconic Rock bands, as an attempt to make his TALENTLESS ass look half way relavent.
It's a typical Punk Rock tactic--- 'We have no talent, but we're still cooler than you, because we said so'.... Johnny, you ain't shit!!
At the end of the day, The Sex Pistols were a manufactured band of no talent hacks who had attitude and angst, but no substance.

And those prog bands were horribly BORING imo. I like FUN, not boring. Still they might be fun for someone, but why are you so insecure? If someone doesn't like them why does it bother you SO MUCH? Funny.
