Neither are as good as Lightning To The Nations, but I'll try to pick these up when they come out.

Oh yeah baby, I'll be getting these. Bonus tracks sound good too. Never heard the Tommy Vance Interview (R.i.p) so look forward to that.
P.S. New album is a killer :D \M/
COMMENT | I like DH, but... posted by : epac 9/26/2007 8:17:10 AM
...most fans probably already have these songs; it's not like they're hard to come by.
Are these cd's re-mastered in any way? Hard to justify buying the exact same songs, just in a different format.

Brilliant albums.... I'm actually a huge fan of Canterbury.
COMMENT | Their newest album is rockin! posted by : reub the rocker 9/26/2007 9:38:22 AM
The new singer is way better than the old guy, generally I find this band to be great live but the early recordings are too slow and dont convey the power they possess live, except the latest album which is rockin!

I actually dig Death in Progress.
Some great tracks and collaborations on that one! (Mustaine, Iommi etc)

alright, i'll check it out and which one of the other 80's stuff is best?

well LTTN is a must and if you can get your hands on Canterbury thats a great album. The one that has the song "Ismael" on it. Now that's a quality track.

As you can see, BORROWED TIME has two tracks which are redundant with the first album, the title track and "Am I Evil." The other material is absolutely brilliant though. Canterbury is an entirely different animal... some british metal, but then some more lighter and experimental stuff, if you're into that. I love it all, and Diamond Head is one of my favorite bands of all time, so I might not be the best person to ask, haha.
Really, you can't go wrong with the compilation "Best Of," which culls key tracks from the first three albums, including (in my opinion) superior studio versions of the tracks from Borrowed Time. Diamond Head seemed to be in the habit of re-recorded songs throughout their career, and these are the best versions.
Tracklist for "Best Of"
1. It's Electric 03:37 2. Shoot Out The Lights 03:24 3. Helpless 06:48 4. Sucking My Love 09:32 5. In The Heat Of The Night 04:57 6. Call Me 03:54 7. Lightning To The Nations 04:09 8. Borrowed Time 07:39 9. Am I Evil 07:22 10. Makin' Music 03:51 11. Out Of Phase 03:32 12. Ishmael 04:00 13. To The Devil His Due 06:02
The only real flaw is that it's missing "The Prince" but other than that it's a perfect collection, and far and away my favorite greatest hits disc.

Yeah, I've got LTTN (what self respecting metalhead doesn't?) I'll check out canterbury too then.

The Dh Anthology is a great double disc CD if you want a flavour of DH - It's got "The Prince" on it too!

I already went to great lengths to track down these albums on CD but I might pick up these reissues for the bonus tracks.

The Canterbury record is my favourite because it is a little different. Songs like Ishmael, Knight of The Swords, Canterbury and To the The Devil His Due are good. What's good about getting this on CD is that the original vinyl versions were mispressed so 30,000 records had to be recalled. The versions of Lightning to the Nations and Am I Evil don't really differ to much from the original versions on Lightning to The Nations. That's a must have record to have anyway especially as the versions of Helpless, Am I Evil and The Prince were the ones made popular amongst Metallica fans.

The first 2 Diamond Head records must be the 2 most re-issued metal albums of all time. They are total classics but c'mon..............
'Canterbury' on the other hand is rather horrible. 'Death Or Progress' on the other hand is way underrated - there are at least a half dozen killer tracks on that one. The Mustaine and Iommi collaborations are mint, for one!
