- Sep. 29, 2007
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello's alter ego THE NIGHTWATCHMAN will support SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian on several dates in October. THE NIGHTWATCHMAN's schedule is shaping up as follows:
Oct. 11 - Nashville, TN - Exit/In
With Serj Tankian:
Oct. 12 - Chicago, IL - Vic Theater Oct. 14 - Toronto, ONT - Guvernment Oct. 15 - Boston, MA - Paradise Oct. 17 - New York, NY - Irving Plaza Oct. 18 - Philadelphia, PA - TLA Oct. 20 - Atlanta, GA - The Roxy
Tom Morello recently released a video as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN for a song called "Alone Without You", according to a press release. Morello composed the tune after seeing an early cut of filmmaker Michael Moore's latest documentary, "Sicko", and let Moore use the song over the film's closing credits. The video debuted at MichaelMoore.com and the tune itself was added as a bonus track to Morello's debut album as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, "One Man Revolution".
Morello said about the song, "'Alone Without You' is a testament to the struggle and loss faced by millions of Americans who are cast aside by a healthcare system that puts profit before people and families."
Morello and Moore recently interviewed each other as part of MySpace's "Artist On Artist" series.
Moore directed the videos for RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's "Sleep Now In The Fire" and "Testify", while THE NIGHTWATCHMAN opened for Moore on a 2004 speaking tour.

If you want healthcare then it’s very simple: Stay in school. Don’t have children before you can afford to take care of them. Don’t allow your life to become controlled by substance abuse. Don’t go into debt for things you don’t need. Be smart and responsible for yourself then you’ll eventually find yourself working a good job that has medical benefits. Anyone who disagrees with this will probably always be a loser.
Face it: Tom Morello is a RICH marxist who cannot relate to the hard working middle class American who has a mortgage, car payment, is saving for retirement and putting a kid thru college.
I bet if he and his girlfriend had regular 9 to 5 jobs with a combined income of 75K/yr to live on they'd oppose any gov't spending that raised their taxes and made it even harder to survive.

It's weird to Hear Serj without system of a down behind him. And For Three storms, Honestly man, a lot of people get cancer, break a leg, or get sick, not everyone can be healthy until they can get insurance, and THOSE are the people we need to help.

let me take this a little further: basically you mean: You (the governement, those, who are in control, whoever it may be) keep the people, you control, busy, so they don't have time to think about their situation. You let them uneducated, so they don't even get the chance to use their brains properly and are able to think about their situation.
And those people, who HAVE all these abilities und possibilities should shut up, because they don't belong to this "hard working middle class", they are talking about?
Interesting.
Oh, and fascistic too.

I think they'd sooner credit Led Z, Sabbath and 90's west coast hip hop before those guys.
Get educated before you post kiddo.
btw. I see you frequently hate on RATM whenever they are mentioned which. Seems like someones got a hard on for the guys.

for contributing to the downfall of the english language. It would be easier for you (and others) to create symbols- similar to your pithy anagrams (lol), etc. Perhaps 8-10 would suffice (a heart- love, two fingers- cool) etc. Additionally, you can congratulate your group of "those that aren't men", for contributing perhaps to the largest number of out, gay men at almost any point (in the 80's they would have been thought very, very weird- now, its "as folk".

Tom Morello has got to be THE most average, technically correct, soulless guitarist on the planet.
And just to add, my political views go more to the left, but this guy is a complete rich poser and mediocre musician. All this tribute to Zep nonsense is bullshit. More like a tribute to Dokken.
Really too bad because I don't like what's happening in the US or what Bush is doing either, but I'm ashamed to have this tool speaking for me.

"It's weird to Hear Serj without system of a down behind him. And For Three storms, Honestly man, a lot of people get cancer, break a leg, or get sick, not everyone can be healthy until they can get insurance, and THOSE are the people we need to help".
And there is a safety net to catch people who find themselves in the situation you've described: It's called unemployment compensation if you break a leg or MEDICAID if you get cancer and cannot afford your medical bills.
Just ask someone from Canada how many weeks or months it takes to get treatment for an illness like cancer or a broken limb.
I personally know someone from Canada who broke his arm skiing and was refused medical treatment for over a week because his injury was non life threatening. When he was finally seen, the doctors had to REBREAK his arm and reset it.
Had he been an American, he would have been seen immediately at an emergency room regardless of his economic status.
This "FREE" medical coverage that Moore and Morello are lobbying for isn't free. Have any of you actually read what Hillary has proposed? It is NOT free medical care. It would require every person to BUY medical insurance whether you want it or not. And it won't be cheap. Basically, it's just another tax. And it's nothing more than a tool to help politicians get voted into office. Using other people's money to buy votes. It's the American way!
Great rant and socialism is for pussies, rejects and liars.
Name anyplace that has used this method and they are the most failed places of the world.
They would do anything to tell you it is all about compassion, when in reality it is about bribing people for votes and making the most successful the pawns for their dirty games.

CRISIS OF THE UNINSURED: 2007
Despite claims that there is a health insurance crisis in the United States, the proportion of Americans without health coverage has changed little in the past decade. The increase in the number of uninsured is largely due to immigration and population growth -- and to individual choice, says Devon Herrick, a senior fellow with the National Center for Policy Analysis.
How Big Is the Problem? In 2006, according to Census Bureau data:
More than 84 percent (250.4 million) of U.S. residents were privately insured or enrolled in a government health program, such as Medicare, Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Programs (S-CHIP).
Up to 14 million uninsured adults and children qualified for government programs in 2004 but had not enrolled, according to the BlueCross BlueShield Association.
Nearly 18 million of the uninsured live in households with annual incomes above $50,000 and could likely afford health insurance.
In theory, therefore, about 32 million people, or 68 percent of the uninsured, could easily obtain coverage but have chosen to forgo insurance.
That means that about 94 percent of United States residents either have health coverage or access to it.
The remaining 6 percent live in house-holds that earn less than $50,000 annually.
This group does not qualify for Medicaid and (arguably) earns too little to easily afford expensive family plans costing more than $12,000 per year.
However, they could afford the limited benefit plans that are gaining in popularity, says Herrick.

I can't wait for Serj's album to be out. Moore rocks, America needs free health care.
You obviously know nothing about socialized health care and medicine. Just see how crappy Canada's healthcare is and take that to heart.
I have a good idea. Why don't all of you lunatic lefties pay for your own socialized healthcare and leave the rest of us sane people alone and then see who comes out better.
Spend your own money for once and see who comes out on top. Why can't you walk the walk, when you think you can talk the talk?? Try using your own money on these failed policies and then see how 'free' it really is in the end. All you do is steal other people's money and then tell the world how compassionate you really are, when all you did was rob Peter to pay Paul, then bribe another irresponsible idiot for a cheap, stolen vote. That is your way and that is the way of socialism. Death to all of your ideas of shame, despair, selfishness, corruption and greed.
