It's Official: AT THE GATES To Reunite For Select Shows

Legendary Swedish metal band AT THE GATES will reunite for several shows next summer. Confirmed dates so far are as follows: Jul. 4-6 - Ruisrock, Finland Jul. 31 - Aug. 2 - Wacken Open Air, Germany Aug. 15-17 - Bloodstock, Derby, UK Commented guitarist Anders Björler (currently in THE HAUNTED): "Well, it felt like the timing was right for once. We have been talking about a possible reunion for years now, but this was the first time everything fell into place. For me personally, it feels like getting closure. The break-up over ten years ago was abrupt and left a bad vibe between us that took years to get over. We have a better relationship today and a more relaxed approach to who we are and what we do. The time is right to get together and play some shows Try to catch us live in the summer 2008. It could be your last chance." I got to see At The Gates on tour in 1995 with Morbid Angel and Dissection. I've met all of ATG in their other bands, but holy shit...
At The Gates AND Carcass at Wacken?!?!? I've gotta fly my ass out of Chicago and get over to Germany!

Saw 'em on the tour with Napalm Death in '95 @ The (now defunct) Mirage in Minneapolis and was an instant fan. After the show we were all hanging out with At The Gates and certain members of Napalm Death having a great time when all of a sudden a drunk off his ass Tomas Lindberg decides to whip his pecker out and start taking a piss in front of everyone! From what I understand his out of control drinking was part of the reason why they split. Hopefully he has things under control now because At The Gates were a great band. I'd love to seem them again as long as Tomas keeps it in his pants! Good news.

Holy fucking hell!
It was only last night.. I was talking to my mate... And I was like, Wacken is becoming so fucking cool ATG will be next! And holy fuck.. I said to someone that I had I hopes for Carcass after Mike stated about missing the deadline for next year.
I hope Varg gets his fucking Parole and German let him come over and have Burzum on the line up! Maybe Wacken can get the Max/Sepultura deal to go down.

I need to really start saving money for Wacken '08. Anyone have a ballpark figure on how much $$ it would cost total for round trip tickets and spending money (from Detroit)?? I figured around $1,500-$2,000. Would you fly into Amsterdam? I've never been to Europe and this could be the right time.

Amsterdam`s about 300 miles away...fly to either Hamburg or Lubeck. Lubeck is closer but Hamburg is obviously a much bigger airport.

One of the few bands deserving a reunion to close things properly and for good. They influenced so many bands in both Hardcore and Metal that they can justify playing a few dates to show the kids how its done and where it came from.

Can't wait for wacken next year travelled all the way from Australia this year and had a blast. To have 2 bands like Carcass and At the Gates reform in the same year and play on the same bill, I would think it would be easier to win the lottery.
I also put my vote down for a reunion of The Crown that would just destroy destroy destroy.
