TOOL Frontman Collaborating With RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Members - Oct. 19, 2007
The Pulse of Radio reports: TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan says that he recently worked on a new song with drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford of AUDIOSLAVE and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Although Wilk and Commerford were rumored to have played on Keenan's upcoming PUSCIFER album, the singer told The Pulse of Radio that the collaboration took a somewhat different shape. "They found themselves not working with (singer Chris) Cornell after the last AUDIOSLAVE record and they wanted to know if I was interested in starting a band. And I said 'No, I've got this other thing going on and two other bands to boot.' But what I suggested to them was that they should start their own band and have me sing a song, and have some other singers sing a song. I think on some level they agreed, and so that's what we kind of did. I went in and we wrote a song together and right now they're currently trying to record that song, and I'll go sing on it."

A different version of the same song, which is called "Mono Stead", also appears on the debut PUSCIFER record, "V Is For Vagina", which comes out on October 30.

There's no further details on the album project that the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE musicians are working on or if guitarist Tom Morello is involved.

PUSCIFER is the umbrella for a loose collective of musicians, comedians and other artists that Keenan has been working with since the early '90s.

TOOL begins a new North American tour on November 14 in Austin, Texas.

it's a recycled song.

kinda lame, but RATM and TOOL are neat stuff, maybe they can manage to do something better from the original take.

maybe if maynard kept off the side projects and collaborations for awhile and concentrated all his efforts within tool, their next album wouldnt sound like B-Side / re-washed tracks, and i'd have something to look forward to other than carey's drumming and the album artwork.

Did the quote "I said 'No, I've got this other thing going on and two other bands to boot.'" confuse anyone else? I thought A Perfect Circle was never going to play again, Howerdel was recording a solo album, and Maynard's only current bands were Tool and Puscifer?

I'm torn. On one hand there's Tool and RATM, who are good. On the other there is Audioslave, which is really fucking fruity.

If Maynard and the full RATM did that, it would be a great song. Maynard's part of the demo is nearly inaudible.

As many of you know, Adam Jones and Tom Morello went to high school together, and were in a band together. Adam Jones played bass. Maynard did do vocals on "Know Your Enemy". They also played that song live a couple of times, i believe during Lolapallooza. My guess is that Rage are back together, and will soon announce a full on tour for 2008, probably synching up somewhat with the primary schedule. So if you're in Iowa, you'll luck out. As for A Perfect Circle, I'll bet that they aren't done. As soon as it was apperent that Iha wasn't joining the Pumpkins and Twiggy got dumped from NIN, as soon as the Tool tour and the Puscifer thing end, APC will be back. Would be nice to hear what an album of original songs from the APC touring lineup (Iha and Twiggy) would sound like.

"There's no further details on the album project that the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE musicians."

I've never heard any musicianship from this assemblage of whiney, girlie clowns. What a joke.

I like how these idiots make money in this country but all they ever do is bash it...Sort of like Sean Penn and Kevin Spacey.

Please, please, please do us a favor and book a tour through the middle east! And please, please, please come back with your stupid heads cut off!

Maynard recently said that A Perfect Circle is still an active band. Paz Lenchantin's Myspace page says she is still a member of the band, also.
