ROBERT PLANT On LED ZEPPELIN Reunion: 'Blowing Everybody Away Isn't The Issue Anymore' - Oct. 23, 2007
The Pulse of Radio reports: Robert Plant insists that LED ZEPPELIN's reunion show next month in London is not a dry run for an upcoming world tour. Plant told Uncut, "There'll be one show and that'll be it. We need one last great show because we've done some (reunion) shows and they've been crap."

When asked if the one show will lead to the temptation to take the show on the road, Plant said, "Not for me, but I can't speak for anyone else."

Plant was asked if he ever thought about touring with ZEPPELIN, if only to blow the band's longtime competitors THE WHO and The ROLLING STONES away: "We weren't in competition with anybody. We were LED ZEPPELIN. We were at that time the biggest band in the world. There wasn't anyone else. There was no one near us. We were out there on our own. And blowing everybody away isn't the issue anymore. Blowing myself away is the issue. That's what it's all about now."

He went on to knock THE WHO and the STONES, who have carried on pleasing fans over the years despite losing founding members: "They're doing what they're doing. It keeps them off the streets, I suppose."

Robert Plant's album with Alison Krauss, called "Raising Sand", is out today (October 23).

Tomorrow (October 24) Plant and Krauss will appear on the "Today" show. An appearance on PBS' "Charlie Rose" is scheduled for later this month.

LED ZEPPELIN will perform their first full-length concert since 1980 on November 26 at London's O2 Arena.

The show, a memorial for late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, will also feature performances by Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, and FOREIGNER.

Guys in their 60s shouldn't make a living singing about juice runnin down their legs.

Great to hear he has some integrity. Best to leave their legacy alone. If you need a fix, get How the West was Won.

I agree that they shouldn't fuck with the legacy they've built fo themselves...just hope they don't sound shitty at O2...that would be a big disappointment for all the mofos that paid 250.00 on up to see 'em perfom.

I don't think they'll be able to blow away some of the other old bands around today performance wise as Jimmy may decide to suck....

Stones? Bah, they don't stand a chance. The Who is one hell of a band though.
Zeppelin owns both of 'em, period.

Neither the who or the stones need to tour to keep off the street. how foolish.

Believe it or not robby, some bands tour because they like it, and because they can.

Shouldn't knowing that the people wish to see you play be enough to atleast consider doing a fest or something? Don't need the money? Don't take it. Play, have fun, soon you'll be too old to and maybe, just maybe, you'll regret wasting years away from the music scene.

I see your point but I don't think any of us decide if a band is great on album sales. The Velvet Underground could not sell an album to save their lives but thet are one of the greats. It's about the music. IMO, the Stones are the best band behind the Beatles. Every band out there is one level or so under the Beatles. Plant states Zep were the kings in their time which is the 70's but so were the Stones, Aerosmith, Floyd, Queen, Kiss, and the Who. Anyhow, it's hard to compare bands like Zep or the Stones, their music is somewhat different and that's what made them great, their individuality.

The Stones are better than The Who and Zeppelin...The Stones are one of the first true rock n' roll bands and they can go from Jumping Jack Flash and Street Fighting Man to Beast of Burden and Wild Horses while still sounding like The Stones...The Who and Zep are legends as well but The Stones are the only gods of rock n' roll period...and Mick Jagger wrote waaayy better lyrics than Plant...Plant just sang about either fucking, Lord of the Rings or both!...Don't get me wrong though, I still loves me some Zeppelin but come on! You can't touch The Stones, they are above all petty band arguments right beside The Beatles and Frank Zappa

Saw Plant solo a long time ago, was like watching a cheap Vegas review, saw the Who last summer at the Virgin Fest..they were awesome. Saw Jimmy Page with the Black Crowes several years ago, the old Zep songs sounded MUCH better with Chris Robinson singing, Plant admits every Zep show in the last 28 years has sucked......The Stones may have had 10 good songs over their career (maybe closer to 12).....the question shouldnt be why is Plant singing with Krause but why is Alison singing with Plant...not a Bluegrass fan but she has a gorgeous voice.

I’ m a huge Zeppelin fan and of the three surviving members, I always was of the opinion that Plant was the reason the three hadn’t played a full show together. Plant has always struck me as the one member that will say something and then flip flop on a statement example: 6/28/07 Mr. Robert Plant himself has now made a joke about the purported reunion: “If there was one, then there wouldn’t be enough doctors to support it!”

Plant was asked if he ever thought about touring with ZEPPELIN, if only to blow the band's longtime competitors THE WHO and The ROLLING STONES away: "We weren't in competition with anybody. We were LED ZEPPELIN. We were at that time the biggest band in the world. (A wee bit too much pride but not the worst thing he could’ve said about the band’s standing) There wasn't anyone else (Now he’s gone over board rather than compliment a few other bands he goes over the top here). There was no one near us (Robert is definitely being a bit pompous with that statement). We were out there on our own. And blowing everybody away isn't the issue anymore. Blowing myself away is the issue (That’s the problem too much about himself, he stiffed Jones back when Page & Plant got back together and while Plant continued to record new music he still played Zeppelin songs live.). That's what it's all about now."

He went on to knock THE WHO and the STONES, who have carried on pleasing fans over the years despite losing founding members: "They're doing what they're doing. It keeps them off the streets, I suppose." (An immature statement to say the least, The WHO and STONES have done quite well since Bonham’s death brought an end to Zeppelin, he should’ve took the highroad and said something kind about the THE WHO and STONES that was a very disappointing statement ROBERT!)

Robert Plant, January 23, 2007
"I was talking to Dave Gilmour. I said, 'How long are you out for?' He said, 'Three weeks, and you?' I said, 'Well it's 128 shows in and I can't see it ending.' So, I mean, it depends on whether you actually just do a few gigs to please the record company and go back to the fortress. Or you find that your home is everything, everywhere and everyone."
Plant is a grandfather, but retirement is not in his plans.
Another Plant Flip Flop
Robert Plant 9/28/2007
"I know I'm getting on. When I do come back from touring I'm shocked to find a lot of my mates tend to be going to bed far too early and that means I should probably be doing the same. Maybe I should stop having a good time and get old," the singer confessed.

Plant’s the reason it’s taken almost 30 years to Reform and do a full Live Show the more I think about it the more irritated I get with Plant it’s time for him to shut up and get ready for the show hopefully he sings well!
