Former NIRVANA Bassist Talks Upcoming DVD - Nov. 1, 2007
The Pulse of Radio reports: Reclusive NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic told NME.com that he's looking forward to the DVD premiere of the band's "MTV Unplugged in New York" performance, 14 years after it was first filmed and recorded. The disc will feature both the original broadcast and the complete, unedited show, newly remixed in 5.1 digital surround sound. Novoselic said, "The new 5.1 sound really opens it up and it gave me a new appreciation for the songs. You can hear what each instrument is doing. It really invites you in and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it in a new way. I'd really like to re-release (NIRVANA's 1993 album) 'In Utero' in that way at some point."

The full, unedited version runs 66 minutes. The DVD will also feature four songs from the band's sound check, previously unavailable behind-the-scenes footage and a 20-minute documentary.

"MTV Unplugged in New York" will make its DVD debut on November 20, almost exactly 14 years after the band taped the show on November 18, 1993. The original CD of the show was issued in late 1994 and was the first NIRVANA release after frontman Kurt Cobain's suicide in April of that year.

Meanwhile, ex-NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl told NME that he dreams about Cobain to this day. Grohl explained, "Every time I see him in a dream, I'll be amazed and I get this feeling that everyone else thinks he's dead. It always feels totally real, probably because I'm a very vivid dreamer. But, in my dreams, Kurt's usually been hiding — we'll get together and I'll end up asking him, 'God, where have you been?'"

that this taping was the only one in the history of MTV Unplugged to be done in one shot, no edits, no redos, just song from top to bottom. I guess it can be confirmed when the DVD comes out. Amazing... Hopefully they'll find Kurt's murderer someday.

MTV really need to get their heads out of their asses and put more of their stuff out on DVD. As money hungry as they are, you'd think they'd have jumped at the chance to put something like this or The State out to cash in. I DEMAND THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXCHANGE CURRENCY FOR SERVICES!
