Former DAATH Vocalist Slams BLABBERMOUTH.NET 'Naysayers'
- Nov. 8, 2007
|
|
Vocalist Sean Farber has issued the following statement regarding his recent departure from the Atlanta-based extreme metal outfit DAATH: "I am posting this blog not to be impersonal, but because I've received many questions lately about what happened with DAATH and me and it is much easier to type it only once. What I say here is exactly what I've told my closest friends. "First and foremost I'd like to say that everyone in DAATH and I are still friends and will continue to be. Mike, Eyal and I have been friends for a decade and a half and we plan on keeping it that way. Leaving DAATH was my decision. Eyal and Mike said they would like me to reconsider but understood my position which I am about to explain to everyone here. "We all have a limited time on this sphere of possibilities. For all intensive [sic] purposes, the years I have to be viable enough to do anything with are approaching the halfway mark. I spent the early part of my life being a musician and striving to succeed as hard as possible. I feel accomplished and somewhat lucky about the opportunities afforded to me. Many talented and exceptional musicians never get to do what I have done. "All this said, after climbing the ladder and sometimes falling off of it time and again, I have developed new interests and more goals in life. The goals I have set in my life are: 1. To be a successful musician. 2. To travel the world. 3. To sustain myself without supporting multinational corporations. 4. To open a brewery. 5. To open a restaurant. 6. To start my own religion. "So far I have been able to accomplish three of these things (in no particular order). I need to spend the next half of my viable years completing the rest. "So thank you for all of your concerns. I am grateful to have met a lot of you along the way, you have not heard the last of me. I wish the best for DAATH and their new singer in the future. And for the naysayers, especially the ones on Blabbermouth, please continue to entertain us all with your comments. The easiest thing to be in this world is an undereducated critic who uses not facts to make his or her judgments but emotion." DAATH is curently seeking a new vocalist. The band is looking for a distinctive voice to augment its brutally unique sound and mirror its complex conceptual background. DAATH is on tour with DARK FUNERAL and NAGLFAR, with longtime friend Sean Z filling in on vocal duties. The group is looking for a vocalist with versatility, a touring heart and a fervent love for all DAATH has to offer. "We don't want a one-dimensional singer, we want someone diverse with range and power," says guitarist Eyal Levi. "We like vocalists with signature diversity such as Mikael Ã…kerfeldt, Vortex, Phil Anselmo and David Vincent." Candidates looking to apply should download vocal-free music from the links below, record their vocals and email tracks back along with full contact information and picture to the e-mail address provided at the bottom of this article. Applicants are also encouraged to complete the tracks via video and upload them to their personal YouTube pages or can submit materials from their own bands or work. DAATH will be considering entries throughout the fall and hope to announce a new vocalist by the end of the year. Vocal-free tracks can be downloaded from the following locations: "Cosmic Forge": Audio"Ovum": Audio"Subterfuge": AudioSubmissions should be sent to: daathaudition@roadrunnerrecords.com.

I still want to know where my shirt is that I ordered and PAID for when Daath was first mentioned on blabbermouth.
It's ok. I look at it this way. I donated several meals to the band on the road.
Slogan for the Brewery.
Drink Sean's PMF Lite... It gives you the Lite Beer Farbers

could all be filled by just doing the following: by starting a religion that involves beer in their communion or whatever, in a flying brewery that travels the world with a restaurant attached inside that has musicians (Daath) that comes and plays at peoples tables/seats (or just has a little stage for themselves). There! Not bad for a band I've never even heard of.

offfthemoors: Fuckin truth. Aside from the obvious jokes, there are actually people who speak honestly about music.
"...an undereducated critic who uses not facts to make his or her judgments but emotion." -Well, that is an awfully broad statement.. So if I am "undereducated," listen to a song, and it makes me feel not facts, but emotion, that is some how the easiest thing in the world and entertaining to you? I see. Have fun starting your own religion. The world needs a lot more of those.

Everytime someone in a band mentions "The naysayers/bitches/assholes/retards/etc on Blabbermouth.net" all they do is compound the problem, because people know that bands read this shit.
So why wouldn't they let the insults fly at their most hated bands when they know damn well they will read it?

I can identify with the religion thing, though I wouldn't phrase it that way. Maybe a better way of putting it is "developing a world view"... unless he actually is going to invent a god or something. I mean, you have two choices: 1) follow someone else's world view (philosophy, religion, whatever), or 2) develop your own world view. Since I left Christianity a few years ago, I've been following option two. Sometimes I find some interesting ideas in the philosophies/religions that I come across (for example, the Cyrenaics, who were ancient Greek hedonists). But in the end it's up to me to make up my own mind. I'm assuming that he means something along those lines...

Well, the whole Blabbermouth detractor, sit behind your parent's computer screen and bitch about bands you know nothing about from a safe distance thing is annoying. But this guy actually took the time to address the posters on Blabbermouth, he's doing the same thing. I mean really, does that make him any better? They don't like you so they bitch...you don't like them so you bitch...if you can't handle criticism then quitting your band and opening a brewery is probably the best way to go.

tired of all of the bullshit comments people post here as well. Mister H his the nail on the head with the ""(insert band name here) SUCKS AND SHOULD DIE!!!!!!!!!!" (or something similar)."" comment. It's quite tiresome, immature, and pathetic. Mainly because 99% of the "naysayers" wouldn't have the balls to say it the musician's face. Honestly, what purpose does it serve to say "your band sucks"? It seems pretty clear that a majority of you are angst-ridden adolescents looking for an outlet for your pent up negativity. Go punch a clown in the face or something...nobody likes them anyway.

dude, I hope he isn't serious..religion is the source of so many problems in the world. Religion is a shitty man-made thing that we'd be better off without. The last thing we need is another one,no matter how 'kvlt' or metal it is. Who does he think he is, Sammy Hagar? Maynard James Keenan? How is going to have a successful brewery or restaurant when he leaves his band just when they were about to get popular? How fuckin selfish...

Anyone that knows Sean personally knows his humor. I find it extremely humorous that anyone would rip his goal of starting a brewery. Anyone that knows this guy knows number 1, he doesn't dig on cheap American beer. He procurs only the finest artisan beer. Number 2, he didn't leave daath in the middle of a tour he gave his notice months before then, hence right there proves his point about bullshit talkers on here that talk shit without facts. And number 3, if you actually read his statement about living his life without supporting multinational corporations I highly doubt he will be opening a mcdonalds any time in this life. So congratulations on proving his point on shit talking naysayers!

I find it amusing how people complain about generalisations, and then follow them up with their own. Criticising a band does not necessarily make you an adolescent with anger issues. It's also not true to label everyone on here as being a loser with no career. Granted, there maybe a number of people on here that choose to talk trash about bands because they're either jealous or have nothing better to do, but it is not always the case.

So if someone started insulting you in real life and if you retaliated by insulting them back -- or if you decided to take a swing at him for it - would that mean you have a thin skin? If so then I sure do know a lot of thin-skinned guys (and gals). It's easy to talk shit, but not so easy when it rolls downhill. Furthermore, the title of this post is not what Sean wrote -- I'll guarantee it's a sensationalist title made by Blabbermouth to make people want to read it, even if they're not interested in Daath or Sean Farber. Point in case, all the people posting useless shit like "Who is this band?" Maybe we need a metal Jerry Springer show so folks can duke it out in real life.
