RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Guitarist Serenades Picketers Outside FOX Headquarters - Nov. 11, 2007
According to the Los Angeles Times, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello serenaded an estimated 3,000 picketers involved in the Hollywood screenwriters strike who were massed outside Fox's Century City headquarters Friday morning. One sign bore a doctored photo of Peter Chernin, president of Fox parent News Corp., extending his middle finger over the legend, "Write this!"

The Writers Guild of America went on strike on November 5 after the collapse of talks with the major film and television studios, halting nearly 20 years of labor peace in Hollywood, reports Reuters.

Just another celebrity douche out there, with nothing better to do than to pretend to give two shits about a cause that would otherwise not effect his or her life, other than to get their name out there, and give themselves a nice ole' pat on the back. Way to go asshole!

Also I am suprised that Bono was not there to help the cause

Tom, get back with RATM, record, and tour. You should be playing for your record-buying fans, as opposed to the picketers. Hell, I doubt those striking have paid one red cent for any of your music.

the reason these Hollywood writers are going on strike is because they have no talent and are mad that nobody is going to see their dumb movies. The kind of film making of today is fast paced MTV style flash-cut editing with no substance. Instead of whining and protesting, why dont these dorks go check out some late 70s early 80s films like "Just Before Dawn" from 1980. THAT is good film making

support the writers. they are just trying to get a fair cut of DVD sales and iTunes sales of their work. however, the writers of the Saw films need to be burned alive.

How hard is it to write a shitty fucking sequel, or an equally shitty prequel, or even just remake a movie that was good years ago and make a shitty remake? 95% of movies these days are complete shit...nobody can come up with an original idea these days. Why should they strike to get more money when everything they do is un-original? Fuck-em!

Tom Morello and the rest of Rage have always rallied behind working class people and played for them during strikes. This is really no different. Writers don't actually make a whole lot, and even if they turn out a successful work they don't benefit from it. It's reasonable that they see the people they work for making hundreds of millions of dollars while they can barely make rent, and that they should get some of the money they just helped their company make. And honestly, of all people, would you rather see it go to Fox?

Picketing against Fox/Fox News/etc...

I can't take much more of this nonsense "Fox Lies" and "Faux News", and all the rest of this crap. Are these the same people who believe CNN & MSNBC are trustworthy news sources? Ha, to laugh! And these are the same people who always say "Don't believe everything you read or hear". I swear, liberals are so confused and misguided.

And at the end of the day anyway, none of these networks report their own stories anyway, they are all news feeds from AP & Reuters, so it's all the same story with the same text & copy.

MAYBE WE CAN GET SOME OTHER OUTSPOKEN LIBERAL MUSICIANS WHO SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS MEET UP AT FOX TO JOIN THE FESTIVITIES, LIKE SOAD, BONO, BEASTIE BOYS, KANYE, AND IT WOULD BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BE ON A NEARBY ROOFTOP LOOKING THROUGH A SCOPE.

It's bad enough that they are on strike, they have to listen to his crappy music on top of it. Talk about true suffering. Listening to him "play" guitar should make most of the writers cross the picket line.

I'm not suggesting that I like any of the other networks either. All the major networks suck. And as for all of them reporting the same story, the story can change a whole lot based on how it's reported. For a relevant example, when Rage played Coachella and Zack suggested that Bush be tried, hung and shot as a war criminal, the other major stations either ignored it or showed a clip of what he said. Fox showed a picture of the band onstage and ran the story as how Rage thought that the president should be assassinated. And the fact that Fox also has Hannity& Combes and the O'Reilly Factor is the reason I don't want to see them getting any money.
