LED ZEPPELIN's JIMMY PAGE Says It's 'A Bit Selfish To Do Just One Show' - Nov. 13, 2007
Channel 4 reports that LED ZEPPELIN may embark on a full-scale tour after their reunion gig, according to guitarist Jimmy Page.

The band, who are gearing up for their one-off show at the O2 arena in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, are considering doing a string of dates as Page thinks it would be selfish of the band to put all their energy into just one gig.

"It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand," said Jimmy, who is resting up his injured finger, to Guitar World magazine.

"It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle."

The band's rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will take place on December 10.

LED ZEPPELIN releases its new best-of collection, "Mothership", today (November 13).

I think Page and Plant better get on the same page, one says one thing, then the other contradicts it totally. Whether or not they're trying to keep things a surprise or not, they're starting to annoy the fuck out of me!!!

They should just play in the middle of a country. Why waste time booking stadiums?

Sorry, but Germany is closed today due to the Led Zeppelin show. Tomorrow, Spain will be closed.

I work at a promoting agency, and the offer for a stadium show came more than a month a go. They're planing a whole stadium tour for next year.

It's a good thing all this hype has not overshadowed the death of Ahmet Ertugun - legendary music pioneer who helped bring to the masses some of the greatest artists in many areas of popular music. This IS a tribute to him and his life's work - instead it's become the 'Led Zeppellin Reunion Show'. Kind of disrespectful, really. I'm picturing people getting up before the crowd to speak about Ertugun only met with idiots heckling and screaming 'Zeppellin! Jimmy!' the entire time until the band take the stage.

Actually, it was probably 'a bit selfish' of them to use this special evening as a jumping-off point for their tour (which you know they've been planning before this was announced). Considering the hysteria it would create, they probably could have shown up unannounced - or even just have Plant booked to appear and surprise everyone with the full band (like at the Atlantic show in 1987). This was just crass.

ignore post #1..there are no giants stadium shows booked, thats just fan wishful thinking, trust me here kidz.

also, robert has a tour with alison krauss routed for this fall so not sure when a zep reunion tour would happen.

i think jimmy is a tad under the influence of pain medication.

plenty of folks are lining up to pay them tons of money to tour but they have said NO NO NO.....so if there were any HOLDS PLACED at stadiums thats JUST IN CASE holds and these are things any promoter can do at any time whether or not there is a tour. They can call up giants stadium and say, this is Mr Pigg from the promoter office and i need to hold the stadium for zep. At the same time, Mr. Clancy can call up and say the same thing...its just posturing.

Can Robert Plant still sing? Last i heard him his voice sounded very rough and he kept getting out of breath within secs. I have a feeling Plant can't still live up to the standards to that of original Zep

Yeah, Plant can still sing; just not in the same way he used to. That's the main reason I'm interested in hearing what Zep will sound like now.

Plant's new album with Allison Kraus is excellent but he does sing much more in a "Going to California" style for most of the material. I hope he doesn't go for the high notes, but if he thinks he can do it...

And I agree that the entire way the band is handling this so called tribute is awful. They have completely taken the spotlight off of Ertugun and dicked over loads of fans by teasing them into paying inflated ticket prices when you know they are going to play other shows. Even if it's not a full tour, they will probably play several high profile gigs around the world.

Might I remind those who tend not read beyond headlines that Led Zeppelin hasn't charged anyone a dime yet. The show in London is for charity. They don't get a penny of it. If someone is willing to pay enormous amounts of money to see Zep and the money goes to charity, so be it. That's more a fact that too many people have too much money anyway and don't deserve it, but that's another rant. Even if Zep does a small tour, whatever they charge will be doubled or tripled on the street through "ticket brokers." It's just the facts. Everything costs more, including the price of touring with gas prices right now. Look at Maiden, they got their own damn pilot and managed to tour the world without using trucks of any kind (except between the airport and the gig). That's efficient and cool. I digress, point is..it's gonna cost you one way or another to see this. I wouldn't be surprised if they did one show in North America too. One in London, one in New York, that would be fitting. Maybe a third one in Los Angeles too. Those were they key areas for Zep getting big. It might happen like that, but full tour? I doubt it. I think Page is getting ahead of himself. There is no way Plant will go out for 40 shows as Led Zeppelin. Been there, done that.

Plant had better be doing some serious vocal practice. He still has it, but he needs to be put through the paces by a professional singing coach every single day.

Really? I'd say that it's a bit shitty to lead people along and lie to them...

But then, you're the rock star and I'm the working class schmoe, so I guess it doesn't matter what I think.

They should do what the fans want and do a world tour. It seems to be the trend. Hey! If Van Halen could do it.....why not LED ZEPPELIN.
