SLASH Plays 'Sweet Child O' Mine' For The First Time In A Decade - Nov. 15, 2007
Last week, VELVET REVOLVER and GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash stopped by the Rock 'n Roll Fantasy Camp where he performed alongside the campers. While the campers will no doubt remember the experience for the rest of their lives, Slash was having some trouble remembering at the event. According to MTV News, he explained when he got nervous at the camp: "Only once tonight so far which was trying to remember the solo to 'Sweet Child O' Mine' cause I haven't played it since probably the last GUNS N' ROSES show and that was in 1996. You just don't go back and play your songs unless you're doing them in concert or for some particular reason like just now. Then watching the other guys playing it and they actually learned it from a record and all the sudden it got very surreal there for a second."

Hearing Slash play the track for the first time in over a decade wasn't the only surreal moment for campers, they also got to jam with the likes of Roger Daltrey, Jack Bruce, Joe Walsh and Vince Neil.

the guitar solo (the acutal solo, not the opening riff) is so incredibly easy

Axl ate a grilled cheese sandwich and watched Family Matters re-runs all evening. He wouldn't answer the phone because Scott Stapp won't stop calling.

I saw Slash's Snakepit in 2002 in Indiana. They played Sweet Child O' Mine. As they did every other night on that tour, I am sure.

A good solo doesn't mean it has to be difficult to play. Look at most of David Gilmore's work.

I really can't stand the attitude from certain guitarists (which, I find mainly comes from teen aged kids) that a solo or riff isn't good if it's "easy" to play.

That's because these nerds learn the tab to everything, say its easy and have no scope of someone else's skill and songwriting ability.

Where in the universe did Guns play in 1996?

The final GN'R show was in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 17th, 1993.

Kinda funny that Slash's best-remembered piece of music (Sweet Child intro) was something that he didn't even like. Then again, he didn't like the covers and a lot of other stuff, so I guess he was used to the let down...

YouTube link please? Anyone?

I also saw Snakepit in 99 or so and the only GNR cover they played was Mr. Brownstone
