CHUCK SCHULDINER Tribute Concert To Be Held In Quebec City - Nov. 15, 2007
On December 13 2001, one of the most influential musicians in the extreme metal world, DEATH/CONTROL DENIED mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, tragically passed away at age 34 after a a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor. In order to keep his memory alive, Capitale du Metal will present a very special benefit concert on December 12, 2007 at the Theatre Imperial in Quebec City, QC, Canada. This event will feature the ultimate DEATH tribute band SYMBOLIC, with former members of DEATH and other very special guests, which will be announced shortly on the Capitale du Metal web site. It will be over two hours long with a few surprises throughout the night. Tickets will be on sale via Billetech starting November 17 at 10 a.m. There will also be limited V.I.P tickets available. This will allow people to enter the show 30 minutes before doors open, have a meet-and-greet with the band, free posters of the show and more. All profits will be divided between Chuck's foundation for cancer research and a local foundation.

Back in December 2006, the Greek edition of Rock Hard magazine published a tribute to late DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, including statements and stories from many of the people that played with Chuck — such as Kam Lee, Chris Reifert, Terry Butler, Steve DiGiorgio, Richard Christy and Paul Masvidal — plus music industry notables who dealt with Schuldiner, and other musicians, among them Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY), Niklas Sundin (DARK TRANQUILLITY), Donald Tardy (OBITUARY), Alex Webster (CANNIBAL CORPSE), Trym (EMPEROR), Dan Lilker (NUCLEAR ASSAULT), Kelly Shaefer (ATHEIST), and Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC). The magazine has posted all the individual statements from the article (which came out in Greece on December 27, 2006) at this location (scroll down to May 14, 2007 blog entry).

To coincide with what would have been DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner's 40th birthday (Chuck was born on May 13, 1967), the official DEATH web site Empty Words posted the Schuldiner tribute article (entitled "Lust for Life") which was published in Guitar World magazine's April 2007 issue. Check it out at this location.

There is not enough praise & adulation one could give to Chuck Schuldiner. I just finished listening to his PAINKILLER cover on "The Ssound Of Perserverance" in my truck about 30 minutes ago & it still kicks just as much ass almost ten years later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's hard to believe that "Scream Bloody Gore" came out twenty years ago. What a fuckin' masterpiece!!!

I too agree with every single comment you guys have made regarding Chuck's memory!!! May you all have a pleasant evening.

while I enjoy all of Death's albums, 'Spiritual Healing' stands out to me.

the way that album opens with 'Living Monstrosity" just fucking crushes.

i jam to that album from start to finish, and it NEVER gets old or dated

Love Chuck and Death. By far the greatest death metal band of all time. Sound of Perseverance is one of my favorite albums of all time. Trend free metal is a thing of beauty. The world needs a new Death album. All Death rules!
