BLACK SABBATH Drummer Recites ''Twas The Night Before Christmas'; Audio Available - Dec. 2, 2007
The Classic Rock Revisited web site has posted an audio recording of BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward reciting the classic Christmas poem "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" as part of its Christmas special. Download the MP3 file at this location.

Back in 2003, Ward released a limited-edition CD-single, the proceeds of which were donated to the charity of each purchaser's choice from one of five organizations. The single featured the track "Straws", which Ward wrote and recorded to express his concerns regarding the war with Iraq and the escalation of terrorism. A total of 2,200 copies of the limited-edition "Straws" CD-singles were produced in all, with Ward servicing 1,200 copies to governmental heads of state throughout the world, humanitarian organizations, peace support groups, media outlets and fellow musicians. Among those who received the special package were President George W. Bush, then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and members of the United States Congress.

Appice is the drummer for heaven and hell, but it's Black Sabbath under a new identity so that Sharon "the Digital Bitch" Osbourne can't do her nagging

Vinny Appice drums for Heaven and Hell. Bill Ward drums for Black Sabbath. Tony Iommi and Ronnie James Dio insisted that the band play as Heaven and Hell, not Black Sabbath!

Merry Christmas from Black Sabbath.

Meanwhile, Bill Ward was an amazing drummer in the 70's, very underrated. HOWEVER, having seen all the Black Sabbath reunion tours since 1997, Bill and Ozzy are the two flat tires on the car. Like Peter Criss, Bill doesn't seem able to do it anymore. He can keep time, but his tasty jazz-like fills just aren't there anymore. Though I prefer Bill's style over Appice's, only one of them can still do what they used to.

How about next year a tour with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bev Bevan, and Ian Gillan - call it 'Born Again'. But they'll have to record a new album to have enough material to fill the set. ;)
