TWISTED SISTER Guitarist Comments On LED ZEPPELIN Reunion - Dec. 10, 2007
TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French — a mega LED ZEPPELIN fan who saw them opening for IRON BUTTERFLY at the Fillmore East in New York in January 1969 — recently spoke to UK-based journalist Dave Ling about ZEPPELIN's reunion concert that is scheduled to take place tonight (Monday, December 10) at London's O2 arena.

"I just don't know if they'll pull it off, and I'd rather remember the band the way they were," he said. "I give away the 'How The West Was Won' DVD to friends as gifts; the telepathy and synergy between them at that point [in 1972] still brings up goosebumps. But I want to be clear — they're getting back together for charity, which is absolutely the right reason. I applaud them for doing the one thing they know that can raise the most amount of money. I hope it's a great show and that the fans enjoy it. Jason Bonham is a great drummer. John Paul Jones is a master musician. But my question is: Will Jimmy [Page] be able to play the way we all remember, and can Robert [Plant] still sing those songs? I don't know the answer to that."

I always get a kick when some band who relied on cartoonish gimmicks to get noticed, slams some great legend. Twisted Sister may have had a couple of clever songs and funny videos, but I don't see 20 million fans waiting for thier reunion.

On his worst night and even if his finger was still broken, Jimmy Page can play better that JJ French.........with bronchitis, Robert Plant can out sing Dee Snider.............there's your answer Mr. French!

he didn't say anything but the truth. i doubt zep will sound half as good as they used to, and frankly don't give a fuck anyway. he wasn't slamming anybody, just wondering how they would sound. there is no way plant can still sing that way...just wait and see. so fuck you all you negative mother fuckers.

Reunion tours, reunion albums, and reunion bands are NEVER as good as the classic stuff. Led Zeppelin had an amazing run, the best ever in my opinion. They have more phenomenal albums than any other band I know.

But it's over. People who are expecting this tour and possibly new material to sound like old-school Zeppelin are insane. It's not going to happen. This concert will be great it it's own right, and you can't knock guys who are raising money for charity, but people are holding the bar too high.

JJ perhaps realizes that reunion tours suck because he just finished one with his retarded band that was awful. That being said, I agree with him on this.

I love Zeppelin, but we gotta move on now. They legends from the days of old, don't expect anything more.

who cares what this guy has to say about the greatest band ever! on their worst day they are better than these drag queens. you had one hit record with funny videos and are lucky if anyone shows up at the 7-11 parking lots you play today. no one expects them to sound excatly like they did 30 years ago but the fact they are playing and can sound halfway decent is all we need to hear.I fully expect them to put on a killer show and say hey we still got it and walk away which would be sad but cool in a way, like yea we could if we wanted but we aren't going to because we don't have to like all those other legends touring for the money

David Lee Roth with Van Halen.

Anyone who thinks or wishes to compare a Led Zep reunion in 2007 to the mid 70's is a moron. We all know what to expect, Plant will alter the melodies a bit as he did in the 70's compensate for hitting notes that he doesn't need to hit. The rhythm section of Jones and Bohnam will be grooving, and Jimi will do what he does.

Get real people, you all need to gain some perspective.

I'm pretty sure he said they were something special long ago and that he's not sure whether they're going to be as great as they were... You guys have issues, seriously.

The IQ of most blabbermouthers has decreased rapidly as of late. Do you sorry f*cks even read the actual stories anymore?!
JJ isn't slamming anyone here, he's just saying what's on practically everyone's mind.

Stop being so blindly aggressive and uptight,
go get laid or something...

jesus, you people need to grow up. what he said was perfectly understandable to anyone thinking with a clear head; they will not sound as good today as they did 30 years ago.
and even though i've been a fan for well over 30 years, jimmy page is still completely overrated with his playing. did he influence many guitarists? yes! was he as great as his fanatical fans say he was? absolutely not!
come on guys, most of you are not in high school anymore. if someone slights a favorite band of yours, you should be able to let it go....

Worry about your pathetic solo career and keep milkin Twisted Sister cause when Zep tours the world you will be sucking there dicks to get an opening slot. Fuck you!!

Ok, rockers - heads up! JJ French can question abilities of the Mighty ZEP in 2007 to pull off a fucking rock show?... all from a band about rebellion, glam, and defiance ???

But wait a 12 String moment, Deuterium! Didn't JJ French and Co. put out "A TWISTED CHRISTMAS", repleat with "Come All Ye Faithful" that was hawked thru VH1 ? YES !!

JJ, word to the wise: worry about trying to create a non-cheese legacy with TS instead of slagging on a band doing a CHARITY CONCERT and putting some ROCK back into a dying world !

Methinks ZEP never will need to do something like that...

zeppelin was amazing even with jimmy page being the worlds most sloppy guitarist, not puttin' him down but with a handful of injured fingers and a voice that hasn't aged so well, will they be able to pull it off?let you all tomorrow.
