GODSMACK: 'Good Times Bad Times' First-Week Sales Revealed - Dec. 12, 2007
GODSMACK's greatest-hits collection, "Good Times Bad Times....Ten Years of Godsmack", sold 40,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 35 on The Billboard 200 chart. The 16-track collection is loaded with career-defining milestones and seminal GODSMACK classics. Among the songs included are the band's clarion call "Whatever", their breakthrough #1 rock mainstream smash "Awake", "I Stand Alone" (2002's most played rock radio song of the year), "Speak" (the #1 rock cut from their 2006 album "IV") and ad a rare GODSMACK cover of LED ZEPPELIN's classic 1969 debut single "Good Times, Bad Times".

GODSMACK's video for "Good Times, Bad Times" can be viewed below. The clip was shot on October 20, 2007 on the corner of Milk Street and Oliver Street in Boston's financial district.

In other news, GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna was the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline", hosted by Bob Coburn, on December 3, 2007. The program is now available for streaming at this location.

Considered one of the definitive alternative hard rock bands of the modern era, the Boston-based group stormed on to the music scene in 1998 with their masterful self-titled debut album, and have never looked back. The only rock band to have scored 13 Top 10 hits in the Active Rock format, their most recent album, "IV", debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200 chart (their second #1 debut following 2003's "Faceless") and harking back to the thunderous arc of multiplatinum masterpieces like their five-million-selling breakthrough debut album and 2000's "Awake", as well as the more subtle flexing heard on their 2004 acoustic EP "The Other Side".

The band will take an extended, indefinite break following the release of the hits compilation, but singer Sully Erna had a message for all the fans that have stuck with GODSMACK for the past decade: "I want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for the support and the love that you've given this band over the years. We're not going away, we are just gonna take a break and enjoy our 10th year anniversary, and kind of recharge our batteries. And then GODSMACK will be back, and we will come back bigger and badder than ever."

ANOTHER ANIMAL, featuring GODSMACK guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin, released its self-titled debut disc on October 2. The new outfit also includes original GODSMACK guitarist Lee Richards and former UGLY KID JOE frontman Whitfield Crane.

If it's rare why is it on this cd? Those sales are puny for them. We really need a new Zep cover I guess.

a band like Godsmack outsells The Roundhouse Tapes by 20 times in its first week, especially for the fact that its a greatest s/hits compilation...

you guys suck- I suppose you could do better? I just heard thar cover on the radio last night and thought it kicked ass. Have you heard other bands TRY and cover ZEP ? Have YOU tried to cover ZEP? alls you can do is put your spin on it. and I thought they did a great job of doing just that, Sully's got a great set of pipes and the guitarist actually laid down some pretty true to form solo's-
freakin blabbermouthes!

Hell no I've never sold 40,000 copies of old, STOCK material, and thrown in a mediocre Zeppelin cover for some sales boosting, and why not name the album after that song too. I've seen them live twice and I own Awake, Facelift, IV, the dvd, and the acoustic album whatever its called. They have done nothing innovative since the drum duel which started way back in like 03' or earlier. They are ridding their last waves in. The genre they are in is not nearly as popular as it once was. A dying breed...

well I've never bought one thing from them,I am just commenting on the fact that -that song sounded good to ME -there for-thats all that really matters Have you ever hear HEART try and play LED zep?if so then maybe -just maybe you'll see what I'm saying but I doubt that- Its kinda like if you've ever heard anyone else try and sing a QUEEN song-unless they put their own twist on it its really gonna sound BAD-GODSMACK must have tuned down at least a whole step for this song plus changing some guitar parts to lower frets instead of the higher octaves- I liked it - but HMMM I still like ZEP.

its just a hard rock band.. they dont scream and no double bass so they suck... some of you people are lame with your thinking.... Godsmack is a decent band... and they make great musick.... sure some of the songs sound the same but who cares... they are good.... and they came out with a greatest hits for the fans to tie them over till their next release... its not like you have to buy it if you have all of the cds..... i've checked out some of the death metal that you guys listen too and would rather listen to Godsmack anyday.... sorry i guess im not that disturbed lol

LOSERS!!!! Godsmack is one of the greatest bands in the world. they make great songs, great live shows, great videos. I immediately liked this song; if you read Sully's memoir you'll really appreciate why he chose this song.
