Over 5,000 Tickets Sold In First 12 Hours For IRON MAIDEN's Costa Rica Show

According to CostaRicaPages.com, over 5,000 tickets were sold in the first 12 hours of ticket sales for the upcoming IRON MAIDEN concert that will be held in Costa Rica on February 26, 2008. Servers and phone lines were saturated within the first 15 minutes by dedicated fans when the ticket sales opened up to the public on Saturday at "2 Minutes to Midnight" — the name of a popular song by IRON MAIDEN.
Fans from all over Central America are taking part in the rush to buy tickets because Costa Rica is one of two stops the legendary British heavy metal band will make in the region during the Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. The tour will begin on February 1 in India and continue on to Australia, Japan, the U.S., Mexico, Colombia and 14 other destinations.
The concert will take place at the Ricardo Saprissa stadium in Tibas, San Jose — the venue for the Maná concert that took place Nov. 20 with a turnout of over 20,000 fans.
Evenpro is organizing the event. Tickets can be purchased at specialticket.net, by calling 207-7770 or at Sapristore locations in Multiplaza, Desamparados, Tibas and Pavas; MasXMenos in Plaza America, Cuesta de Moras, Metrocentro and Tibás; or Hipermás locations in Heredia, Curridabat, San Sebastian and Guadalupe.
The prices range from about $14 for stadium seats furthest from the stage to $70 for VIP standing area.
On February 5, 2008 MAIDEN will release the highly anticipated DVD of "Live after Death" and to tie in with this will play songs mainly from their classic '80s albums on this forthcoming tour. The stage production will also feature a production-based on the Egyptian-themed "Powerslave Tour" which was featured on the original 1985 video release of "Live after Death".

There are ROTARY DIAL phones, just as much as there are ROTARY Dial phones in the US or the UK... I've been to both (US and UK) and yep, there are those. If you go to a store you won't find rotary dial phones anymore, there are not there, haven't been there for a long time know...
Check on the literacy rate (level) of your countries and Costa Rica, how old do people get to be.. all those numbers... then comment, numbers are not bad considering that we are around 4 million people.
And yes, we are behind in some things... but stating that just because you saw a rotary dial phone... come on...give me a break here... :P
The reason tickets weren't sold out in 20 minutes is because these bastards released the tickets in some kind of "exclusive pre-sale" just for holders of an specific brand of credit card. If you didn't pay with that one, they just wouldn't sell you the ticket even if you had the cash right there. So, those who don't have that credit card had to look for a friend who did, or else wait until tomorrow when the tickets will be sold to anybody with other credit, debit cards or cash.
Rotary dial phones... give me a break. It'd be great if you could actually go to Costa Rica and find out they don't sleep on trees and all that.

And the real reason why the venue is not completely sold out by now, is because to buy the tickets you have to have a particular credit card (that no everyone has) this will only be during the first 3 days, as some sort of special promotion to the card holders, after that is open season...

This is what happens when you don’t play a gig in 27 years (give or take), the fans from ALL OVER THE WORLD go nuts.
Once they started selling the tickets the venue was completely sold out in about 8 hours.
My point being... It’s fucking impossible to sell 15.000 or 20.000 tickets in 10 or 15 minutes, or even an hour or two for that matter; it just can’t be done… at least not yet.
Maiden's venue will sold out, you can count on that!

50.000 ticket in less than 60 minutes, that's 834 tikets per minute = 14 tickets per second, at a constant pace to complete that mark.
Not even if all the clients come with cash in hand you could sell 14 tickets per second, and if you pay with a credit or debit card it takes 3 or 4 seconds to get the authorization.

Costa Ricans are famous for being...late to everything...so ticket sale gets hot 1 week or less to the show...not 2 months.
Actually selling 5k tickets in so little time its pretty good...cause we do not tend to buy them so quickly.
And by the way...Costa Rica is the third country in the world with the highest rate of cell phone use, just right behind Japan and US...Costa Rica has almost 2millions of Cell Phones, our acces to technology is almost as high as in US...AND, our life expectancy is higher than yours...

Is the right number....
When you buy tickets for huge shows in Finland they mostly open the ticket offices all over the country a half hour before the tickets go on sale, usualy there are tons of people already in line. The ticket office then take the names and number of tickets wich the customer wants and then closes the office for a brief moment when the tickets go on sale, and say, buy about 500 tickets with one click. Then they just print the tickets, hand them out to the ones that ordered them and take the cash. The "loose" tickets wich nobody paid for dissapears pretty quick too, usualy there is a limit of max 6 tickets per customer.
This way metallica could sell 50000 tickets in one hour. On the early days tour the 11000 tickets to the show in hartwall arena was sold in 2 minutes. The standing tickets to the rink was sold in about 45sec.

Well I hope your 13 years of completed schooling help you explain why on Earth illegal citizens would be guilty for 'american' ignorance and stupidity. I just don't see how and I would really like to know.
It's not about being defensive (If someone from the US comes will be treated will respect... as long as they do the same, of course). If you really think what we're saying is not true, then you've probably been living under a rock during all those 13 years.

Third world countries, smaller countries, large countries...ALL countries rely on tourism to some extent. Smaller countries usually rely on it more, because there is less money being spent by the local residents. Tourism provides fresh income, jobs and exposure for the respective country. It is not acting high and mighty to say my tourism dollars will benefit a country. My city, Chicago, relies heavily on tourism. When people visit here, I don't consider them to be above me. I can't understand that logic. Why do you think countries/cities try so hard to host the olympics? They are smart enough to realize the amount of money it brings in through tourists. Money is not the be all, end all. However, when a country/city has more money it can provide for a better quality of life. This income provides health care, roads, schooling, infrastructure improvements and countless other things. I do not have cleaning persons, drivers, etc. from third world countries. A common misconception outside the U.S. is that we all live like Britney Spears or think like George Bush. WRONG!!! The overwhelming majority of us are just like the overwhelming majority in EVERY country. WE get up and go to work, love our friends and families and like to have fun with them. We don't have mansions that we sit in with our maids, limo drivers, millions of dollars and sit at home praying that we can put on our T.V. and see an innocent child gets maimed in a warzone. Please don't think what you see on television is an honest representation of the people of the United States of America. I was at a Chicago Bears game last year, which is American football. While walking out of the game after a victory, there were thousands of smiling people hugging and smiling and cheering. Everyone was just having a good day together. I thought to myself, this is how the rest of the world needs to see us as people. Instead you are fed crap like Paris Hilton, school massacres and political propoganda. That IS NOT the real deal here. Sorry for ranting and not using paragraphs. Have a great time at the Maiden show wherever you see them!

I do agree that the media might play a big roll in our idea of the US. I actually met great ‘american’ people down in Hillsborough, FL where I lived for a while…
I guess the bitterness that seems to be spreading across the globe lately comes from the actions of the US government and its current international policies that also happen to affect our countries. It seems to the rest of us that such actions are backed up the US voters, at least that is what it looks like. But then again, I agree we cannot generalize that to judge an entire country.
It might be funny to joke around with “political-incorrectness” as we all did here, but it is true there are good ‘americans’ out there…(unlike the retards that started the fight in this thread!!)
I just wish they were the ones running things in the US government.

Our election system needs improvement. It is possible to lose the popular vote and still win the election. Each state has a certain number of electors based on the population of the state. To keep it simple, certain states have more electors, so those states can trump the popular vote for the rest of the country. It is rare, but does happen and DID in Bush's first election. He was reelected because lots of people were afraid to change leadership in the midst of post 9/11 fears and conflicts abroad. Also, all of our states do NOT vote on the same day. This is assinine!! When a candidate gets an early lead in the states that vote early, it discourages voters from voting when their election day comes up. This is one of the main reasons our turn out is so low. That plus a generation that at times thinks our entertainers are role models.
One reminder, our troops aren't the ones hiding in religous temples, schools and hospitals. Terrorists bombed innocent people here from all over the world. Our troops aren't the ones beheading innocent people, burning them alive and dragginf g them down streets and hanging them from bridges for the world to see. However, we are getting drilled by the rest of the world for making people get naked and into human pyramids? It seems to me that while I don't agree with everything our government does, our opposition is quite a bit more evil.
There isn't a single aspect of war that isn't evil and there is no US missile that doesn’t have collateral damage also, so in my opinion both sides are the same. The difference is that one side kills with advanced technology and the other kills with whatever they can find, steal, purchase or smuggle, but at the end everything is the same.
The real point is that since there was no actual justification to start the war anyways it’s easy for many of us to point out who is ultimately responsible for ALL innocent life being wasted over there.
