fuck fuck fuckity fuckl fuck FUCK
I'm just a poor 17-year old with heavy musical taste that was planning to go to Wacken this year, to celebrate the end of school with my metal friends. I was really excited, because such amazing bands such as emperor, mayhem and motorhead had played in this festival.
and now what do i see???!!!
sonata arctica!!!
avantasia!!!!!!
nightwish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
gay alexi laiho - look at me i'm so great but i'm really playing power metal with heavy guitars
LORDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
last time they came to greece, before the eurovision contest, they were pelted with fruit form disgusted metal fans, i don't see why the same couldn't be done in Wacken.... oh! i forgot, it's going to be full of gay power metal fans, whose chants would be more at home in a madonna concert (excluding some really good bands such as helloween, blind guardian and kamelot).
but truly, this is all you could come up with?
gorgoroth, at the gates and primordial are the only bands i would like to see in the line-up, since i already have had my fair share of kreator and iron maiden gigs.
If the organizers think I'm going to go through all the expensive trouble of travelling to a small village in Germany to see three bands thar aren't really in my top 50, they are sadly mistaken!
and this is not a gratuitous attack, this is a justified complaint by a dissapointed metal fan.
Where are the destructions, enslaveds, dimmu borgirs, IMMORTALS!!!, IN FLAMES, MOONSPELLS, OVERKILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, SODOMS and the vision bleaks of the golden years?
And all these were only last year!!!
Can anyone suggest any better summer metal festivals?
Else i'm probably headed to austria/switzerland for the Euro cup finals and then to Britain to continue my studies. with no metal meltdown whatsoever...

Wacken has always had the likes of Nightwish, Children of Bodom, lordi etc play. In fact all three bands HAVE played before. So moaning about them playing is stupid.

If you want just bands that shout a lot, go to Obscene Extreme or Inferno or something. Wacken has NEVER been like that. Its alwasy been a good mix and thats one of the reasons I like it.

Wacken is the best metal festival in the world, I`ve been to 6 of the last 7 of them. There`s always a load of power/trad bands as well as thrash/black/death/doom etc. It`s a right old mixed bag...and there`s plenty of quality already this year, as mentioned in the post above.

If you`re looking for a more full on extreme fest go to France...the Hellfest ( or whatever it`s called this year ).

very few bm and thrash bands, though.
those are my 2 favourite genres so it kinda got me down.
but bloodred is right, it's still early i guess a lot more bands will be announced in the future.
thanks for the suggestions, too!
