AC/DC: 'Back In Black' Reaches New Sales Heights - Dec. 21, 2007
AC/DC's classic "Back in Black" album was certified 22-times-platinum on December 13, 2007 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales in excess of 22 million copies in the United States.

As previously reported, "Plug Me In" — the ultimate career-spanning DVD box set of live performances, interviews and more from AC/DC — has been certified five-times-platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Released on October 16, "Plug Me In" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Music Video chart and #1 on the SoundScan Top DVD Music Videos chart.

"Plug Me In" — the first AC/DC release since the band came to Columbia Records earlier this year — debuted at #1 in 12 countries around the world, including the U.S., the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, and New Zealand.

The compilation contains over five hours of live and television performances, many of them rare and previously unavailable until now. A limited edition of the set includes a third disc featuring 21 additional performances, along with reproductions of authentic AC/DC memorabilia.

AC/DC is scheduled to begin recording its first all-new album since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip" at some point soon, although exact dates remain a mystery.

IMO, other perfect rock albums are Iron Maiden's # of the Beast, King Diamond's Abigail, Judas Priest's British Steel, Megadeth's Peace Sells and Rust in Peace and I don't see them selling nearly enough, much less over 20 million!!!

28 years later BIB still reigns supreme and pisses on every rock album ever since. You just can't top this album. From day 1 to BIB AC/DC were miles ahead the greatest, hardest, meaniest rock'n roll band there's ever been. I'm sorry but i don't see what's metal about them. They certainly have nothing in common with spandex wearing clowns like Scorpions, Priest or Megadeth. Plug Me in is awesome, the Tokyo footage from the BIB tour absolutely slays.

Downloads of the two singles by Airbourne are mistakenly given credit to AC/DC? But seriously, I can't wait to have new material from 'em. AC/DC is like a Big Mac. You know exactly what it's gonna taste like, it won't be confused for a 16 oz Strip, but you don't give a fuck. it tastes good. there will always be a place for AC/DC.

That's ridiculous. At least break up so I don't eagerly await year...after year... Remember when bands used to put an album out almost every year? Imagine what that would be like now. I can't.

If you have your own sound why immulate other bands, who are here today and gone tomorrow, type of bands.

And believe it or not I perfer it this way ala, the first dozen Black Sabbath's, Motorhead, Napalm Death, Overkill, Testament

I am pretty sure no one would like to see a Metallica, The Gathering, Ulver, Manes, Samuel, Therion type of transformation from metal/rock to eclectic rock, when thinking about AC/ DC releases.

Once a artist has evolved into there own sound...there is nothing else to prove.

Yeah this could happen, but it will not...There is a probably 1 to 1000 metaller to hard rocker ratio, probably a 1 to 10,000 ratio is more accurate. I have been a metal fan since 1980, and metallers are fickle, if they find a band to champion, they usually betray, first chance they get.

Not to mention there is always a better metal band releasing faster/heavier releases on a daily basis. I got to the record store 3 times a week, and some new band is always mega-heavy duty.

There are more forms of rock and roll since 1975 when I first got into that (indie, pop-punk, college rock, emo rock, alterna rock, grunge, numetal)...so that even adds to the possibilites of rock albums selling tons of Albums.

And of course, any opinion to the contrary is wrong and is to be peed upon.

Just watched the Bon disc of Plug Me In. BITCHIN!! Love BIB, but must agree with pigchop on Powerage. THE ALBUM - not a throw away track on it. Always sounds better than the first time I heard it. Mind you - Hell's Bells, still remember hearing the long intro for the first time wondering how the new guy was gonna sound. Still makes the furr on me neck stand up. AWESOME

first, got tired of BIB over a decade ago, stop listening to it. then rediscovered it's perfect brilliance. yes, it's played to death but listen to "Hells' Bells" or " Back In Black" after a 2-year layoff and they will blow you away.

and the amazing thing is, the non-singles, like "What do you do for the money honey" (i assume it was a non-single as it gets airplay time to time but not in the same league as the hits) and they're just as fucking good, if not better, because you don't hear them every day.

perfect writing, riffs, solos, singles, productions... it's as close as you can come to a true 10.

and i also like Powerage a ton -- my fave Bon album. pee on me, as i don't rank it above BIB but very close (to me, the last couple tracks aren't faves. side one is perfect. again, just me. i bet that guy is whipping out his willie at that comment.)

cheers.

you could probably say the same for Brian, only swap Florida for the Pacific Northwest.

and they both deserve it. old men who worked damn hard and made something from nothing. they deserve to relax.

cheers.
